There is an alternative program to PEC if you're using pSX, its CEP and it works quite differently, it does not need a video plugin to transfer codes and its much easier to enter codes with it.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/12/12/501739/CEP.7z

There is a readme included in the .7z, found this on google.
It can't take too many codes at one time, it will stop reading codes after a certain point. You have to press the On/Off button to refresh the codes, turn the codes off and then on again. The codes which affect multiple memory addresses with a single code can work, if you set the settings at the bottom of the Custom page to Playstation, Gameshark/PAR.

I hated FF8's battle system. First was the Junctioning, Drawing spells is a royal pain in the ass, and doing Triple Triad for cards to convert into spells is even more tedious. I tried an LLG, it was stupidly easy once you got all the godly junctions. Boss fights were over in less than five turns, maybe less if I spammed Limit Breaks. Limit Breaks being spammable is really broken, insane damage with almost no drawbacks. There is only one way to win battles, duke it out with physicals as magic is crap, and who would want to waste their junctioned magic when their physical attacks / limit breaks do much more damage?

I didn't go all the way through, it wasn't fun watching the bosses get raped over and over.

Also, the plot sucks. don't need to explain why

Thanks, I thought it was the 'PSX Events' text file from the decompiler that is compiled. What happens when you try to do two events at a time?

Help! / Help with event editing
March 26, 2009, 11:37:29 pm
Hey everyone, I've decided to try out event editing, but I'm experiencing some problems. I imported the modified TEST.EVT back to the ISO, but I still don't see any change.

I edited the first scene, it should be event script x002 but I don't see any change, when I replaced all instances of the line in the text file with different text I still didn't observe any change. I guess there must have been I problem when I imported the modified events to the ISO, here's what I did:

- I used CDMage to export the TEST.EVT
- I used Zodiac's Event Decompiler to extract the events script, in text format, PSX Events.txt
- I made a few changes to the dialogue in event script x002 (opening scene in Orbonne)
- I ran Zodiac's event compiler, the message it gave said "Instruction data was written from 0x00004000 to 0x000048F8. Text data was written from 0x000048F9 to 0x00004D38".
- I then opened up CDMage, opened up the ISO, located TEST.EVT in CDMAGE, right-clicked it and clicked "Import File". I then selected TEST.EVT, the file appeared to import (there was a bar at the bottom detailing its progress) and I just closed the window.

I've also got a few questions about event editing as well.

Where does it specify the encounter in the ENTD to use for the scene?
Will removing the dummy events in TEST.EVT cause glitches in any way?
How can you be sure you do not overwrite other events while you are editing events?

EDIT: I accidentally posted this in Spriting instead of Help, could someone please move this?

I just played through chapter 1 of the patch, my highest level was only 4 (my elementalist).

Elementalists seem quite broken in SoR, my elementalist could easily do upwards of 100 damage with a Katana and the 'Earth' spell. The other classes at my level could not do as much damage as Elementalists could.

So will the Mime still be unlockable for players if they grind to level 8 in every job?

I don't think the Holy Armada being a part of the navy is a good idea, logically speaking if they were part of the navy they wouldn't be sent to retrieve the stones simply because it is not their area of expertise. It would be more likely they would be sent to deal with pirates and protect trade routes instead of going to retrieve the stones, I feel you should keep your original idea of the group being a paramilitary group.

Hey Razele, would it be possible to hack Transparent status so that units can pass through them, but not stand on the same space? Sort of like dead units occupying spaces.

You download the "ppf-o-matic" program, and run it. It will prompt you to select an ISO file and a .ppf patch, and it will patch the ISO for you. I can't find the link atm, there used to be one in the FFT 1.3 forum which I used to download it.

Edit: The link is wrong, the /psx/ shouldn't be there, this is the correct link for ppf-o-matic:
