Sprite Project! Bikke the Pirate!
« on: November 07, 2009, 07:54:24 PM »
Alright, I plan for a new video, upcoming in two weeks, our mercenaries face off against the greatest seafaring threat known, Bikke the Pirate. Now I was wondering if I could have a sprite made for Bikke, the Pirate from FF1, that would be Fantastic! Here are a few reference pics for him...

I would like this sprite by the end of next week, if at all possible.

(Once the sprite concept is complete this thread will be put into the normal spriting thread)

Oh fuck yeah! God, I love Bikke. I'll try working on a portrait, though I'd like to wait to see the sprite. Hopefully one of our many talented spriters will jump on board. :>

Bikke from FFI? Is he the one who gives you the ship after you beat him?

I'll try to make something, though I'm not sure how good it'll turn out.

Here's what I have so far, is this close to what you are looking for?

Yes, Bikke is the one who gives your party a ship so that you don't completely kill him in FF1.

Exactly, Mike! Fantastic start! Of course he'll have a beard by the end of the process, hehe Good idea to use the Oracle's Hat as the base of the Pirate Captain hat.

Indeed he is a reference full and one to FFI's Bikke and I'm glad to see such support for this rather minor character, in FFI, haha!

The avatars... they're all so... so... similar! Gah, sorry about that AquaBlack. I should have probably read the name rather then guessed who it was, now I can say Great work on that AquaBlack and I'm sure the spriters will definitely cook something up that would do justice to your original creation.

Haha, no need to apologize, Lasting Dawn. I just hope someone is able to polish it up. I'll be a bit busy over the next 2 weeks to really devote any time to it.

Looks like a solid start to me.

I'm so very curious to see what will be done with this character.  I can't help but think of the 8-bit Theater Bikke when the character comes to mind.

Very interesting idea there, Sir LD. I'm really looking forward to this ^^
I wished I could help though. And very nice there Aqua. As always, great mug mav ^^
Though, I think his beard needs a little bit more shadings, or its just me =)
Anyway, great job both Aqua and mav ^^

Haha.. maybe because I worked on aquablack's portrait partially..

I suggest using Thief Male hat, it may look good(I'm talking about sprite).

Edit: forget about it, it looks more like a hat for crew(btw, I only worked with hat, nothing else)

I think it's better than the oracle hat.

Neither are quite right, in my opinion, but Thief does give you a decent head start on the front of the hat.  I think the Oracle hat would look better after it's edited with an upturned front.

I agree with Silvas. Ideally a pirate hat is a bit wide, protruding past the sides of the head (by just a bit), the front is turned a bit upwards. So perhaps the front of the male Thief's hate and a modified male Oracle's hat could work.

Also, I was working on reducing the colors on the portrait and cleaning up some shading and attempted the following (criticism and suggestions are welcome):
