I made a patch for the retail USA UMD. I tested a few battles, and I did not notice any slow down. I tested Gaffgarion and Agrias's sword skills, haste, blizzaga, and some summons.

I could not get Mark 2 or Mark 3 to work. My PSP shuts down when I start the game. Here are the checksums for the clean uncompressed ISOs from the retail UMDs. Which ISO are you using to create the patch?

Sometimes the the method you are describing makes bad dumps. You can make the dump yourself using this:

The option to dump the UMD in the custom firmware's menu doesn't make good dumps. Use the attached program.

Extract the PSP folder from the ZIP file to the root of you memory stick.
Launch PSP Dumper on you PSP.
Choose the ISO format.
Dump to ms0:/ISO.

Patch with PPF-O-Matic30.exe and the appropriate PPF file for your version of the game.

The splash screen for the PSP is the same. The first difference you should see is that Simon looks like a Dancer. Check Ladd's Squire abilities in the first battle or any other Squire at any other time. He should be able to learn Chant and Steel. Chant cancels KO and Steel adds Regen.

All the skillsets are usefull. The only bad classes are Mediator and maybe Squire.

The battles in the PSP version should be the same as in the PS1 version. For example, the Onion Knights that were added at the Execution Site make the battle too easy. The new jobs should be reserved for the PSP only battles.

Runes are completely removed. The game is definately less complicated.

Most of the bonuses that you get from leveling up give you more options but not a distinct advantage. The ones that do give a direct boost to stats are very minor. For example, one talent gives +2% critical strike after you have put all three levels into it.

I would say average game length is 30 minutes.

The game encourages aggressive play by being more forgiving if you make a mistake. You're more likely to engage a hero in a lane because the base health regeneration is much higher than in DotA.

The game has been released now. It is free to play and is available in all regions.

That review was terrible. His two main points are that he didn't like a joke they made on their website about denying and that the minimap is on the right.

If you hated DotA you will hate Heroes of Newerth. League of Legends is still very similar to DotA, but it is easier to learn. It has a tutorial, and a lot of the confusing mechanics of DotA have either been removed or streamlined.

The problems with the PlayStation hardware started with 13027. This is probably because of the ASM hacks that were added.

1.3 doesn't work properly on a real PlayStation or PS2. It only works perfectly on a PS1 emulator on a computer.

If you try to convert your own PS1 image to play on the PSP you are probably going to run in to trouble. Compatibily is going to be even worse, because you are modifying the game data before converting it. If it doesn't work on any of the many POPs versions then you will never figure it out. Even Sony can't get every PS1 game to run on the PSP, and no one knows why some games work and some don't.

Just play the PSP version on the PSP.

Matial Arts increases the effectiveness of all physical non-weapon based skills, so it improves Steal chances but doesn't increase the damage of Throw or Jump.
