FFT Arena / FFT Arena AI Tournament Season 2 Registration
« on: June 14, 2013, 11:05:39 AM »
The FFT Arena AI Tournament Season 2 registration is now open! The rules will be just like last season, there will be a winner's and loser's bracket. All the matches will be best 2 out of 3 except for the championship match which will be 3 out of 5.

The hosts so far are myself, CT5Holy, and Dokurider with Gaignun helping with the tournament brackets. We may need one more volunteer so that way we can get help for both brackets.

As far as teams, for those who are submitting their teams for the tournament shall PM me your team and I will check to see if they are legal.

For those that don't know the rules are as follows:

RULES:
Teams will consist of 4 generic humans at Level 35, controlled by enemy AI routines.

Fury and Faith range is between 40 and 70. There is no minimum or maximum for Team Fury/Faith

Each unit has 3000 JP to spend on various abilities. It costs 250 JP to unlock ANY job.(includes Squire/Chemist) For example, to unlock Ninja, you only have to spend 250 JP(the 250 JP is lost forever). You do not need to unlock Squire/Knight/etc to unlock Ninja.

Only two units can buy any individual ability. Innates do not count towards this. (i.e. four units could have the Punch Art skillset, but only two could have purchased Earth Slash; conversely, you can have two Chemists and a Knight with Throw Item)

Only two units can equip any individual item.

The deadline will be July 1, 2013 at midnight EST. So everyone has enough time to register for this tournament. If you have any questions please feel free to post here and someone here will be more than happy to help you. Thank you and good luck to you all!

FFT Arena / FFT Arena Tournament during the summer anyone?
« on: May 31, 2013, 01:01:26 PM »
Hello everyone, with the emergence of 1.39 coming up (hopefully soon) Eternal suggested that we should have a season 2 tournament during the summer. I can definitely play as host again if need be but I would definitely like some volunteers to help me out because hosting a tournament by yourself I can tell you for a fact is a pain.

If everyone is up for it, we can either give 1.38d one last hurrah or we'll use 1.39 when it comes out and display the new changes in our seasonal tournament. Definitely have your say if we should have a tournament this summer or wait longer for 1.39.

FFT Arena / FFT Arena Single Class Challenge AI Tournament
« on: December 21, 2012, 02:33:32 AM »
Thank you everyone for entering this unique tournament!

To go over some of the rules and regulations to help our viewers understand how this tournament works

1) All classes have to be the same (meaning 4 priests or 4 wizards etc) Secondary/Reaction/Support/Movement can be whatever you like

2) JP cap rules being 3000 or under still apply like a regular arena tournament match

3) This tournament will be contested in a Round Robin Challenge. The players are in 4 separate blocks so we have 4 blocks of 6. The winners of those 4 blocks will move on to the semi finals then the final round. The 4 block rounds, tie breaker round (if needed) and the semi finals will be 2 out of 3. The final round will be 3 out of 5

Now remember everyone: Know the AI, be the AI and kill everyone else! :D

FFT Arena / Banned maps for up coming tourney
« on: December 17, 2012, 09:57:08 AM »
With the mono tournament coming up soon, which maps do you think should be banned?

I'll provide a list of maps that Dokurider picked out and we can all decide from there

FFT Arena / Anyone up for a mono tournament?
« on: December 01, 2012, 11:19:22 PM »
Since we have people beginning to submit mono teams (like DomieV's famous knights or reinoe's Four Horsemen of Archery), perhpas in the near future just for fun we can do a a mini tourney with the rules being only using one class of your choosing, i.e. 4 thieves, 4 chemists, 4 wizards, etc

If everyone wants to do one then within a month I can set something up and get it underway and see if this concept flies or not

Now all the spots are filled!

Also you can change classes at anytime. *NEW UPDATE* the deadline is now 12/19 11:59 PM EST

General / Video glitching while playing
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:44:14 PM »
For those who saw my past couple of videos of FFT Arena there were glitches here and there as the frames were skipping during the video. They go back to normal. I tried un-checking enable hardware acceleration and that didn't work (at least not all the way). If anyone knows how to fix the video glitches please post here and let me know how to do it. Thanks again

FFT Arena / Volunteers for Hosting
« on: March 17, 2012, 11:58:33 AM »
Everything now covered and after all the exhibition videos I have done, now I need some people committed to hosting an FFT Arena A.I tournament. I know I can do it, but need others to help out. Whoever volunteers to help, please post here and we'll set up a meeting after this weekend to discuss rules and registration.

I'll also assign responsibilities to those who volunteered to do certain brackets or pick maps for brackets. If we have enough people we can do a loser's bracket and have what we did for the season 5 1.3 AI tourney and just have the winner of the winner's bracket face the winner of the loser's bracket for the championship or let the winner's bracket winner win it all while the loser's bracket winner finishes only in 2nd place.

Again please post here if you are available to host FFT Arena Season 6(1) A.I. tournament. Thank you for your support for those who watched every FFT Arena match and provided feedback for the patch. And thank FFMaster for making such a great tourney patch for all of us here in Final Fantasy Hacktics

(Also if anyone knows the password for FFHacktics Tournament Youtube Channel please PM me that as well, thanks again)

FFT Arena / FFT Arena Season 6 Discussion
« on: July 21, 2011, 11:37:27 AM »
I don't know about you guys, but I'm excited as hell about using Arena as our next AI tourney! We could use something different than 1.3

I know it's going to take a while for it to happen (meaning probably will happen sometime in the fall or the end of the summer if lucky) and there's still some rules to consider or propose but let this be an open discussion!

Pending Review

How will the tournament work?

A player needs to win two rounds to proceed to the next match.
The first round will take place on a medium sized map.
The second round will take place on a large sized map.
If there is a draw, the third round will take place on a small sized map.

Maps will randomly happen during nighttime and/or a thunderstorm/snowstorm.

VERY IMPORTANT: Based on map placement:
• Unit #1 will be on highest panel and Unit #4 will stand on lowest panel
IF the panels heights are about the same:
• Unit #1 will be the nearest unit to access a high leveled area.
IF there is no high leveled area:
• Unit #1 will be in front of the others.
Note that I used constantly "Unit #1". But in fact if we'd have 4 units on different heights, for example #1 would be placed on height 7, #2 on height 5, #3 on height 4, and #4 on height 2.

If you wish to change your team order before the tournament, just PM Barren your new order, like: 3 1 2 4 or whatever. It's very simple and quick to change the team order so don't hesitate.

Note: Maps 16,17,22,32,54,67,69,81, and 95 don't follow this rule because their coordinates were changed due to poor unit placement

Rules

With the advent of Season 5, there will be a shift in the ruleset to introduce new concepts while making sure some previous team combinations are no longer possible.

1) A team will consist of 4 units, leveled in their own class at level 35.  These can be any male/female generic or any monster -- yes, all families are available, but one specie is tentatively banned, see below.
2) The Br and Fa of all units must be between 40 and 70.  The maximum brave for the entire team is 240, and the minimum faith for the entire team is 220.
3) Zodiac selection will be any of the standard 12.

4) There is no JP cap whatsoever.  Generics have free reign over everything that is normally available (ie, there is no teleport2).  Mages are free to have full spellbooks, fighters can have damage split, and everything inbetween.  However, there are banned abilities listed below.

5) Limit one of anything and everything.  Every action ability, reaction, support, movement, and piece of equipment can only be found once per team.
5a) Innates count.  Ninja means no one else can have two swords, Thief means no one else can have concentrate, etc.
5b) Throw and Draw Out skillsets can only appear once per team.
5c) This item quantity limit does not apply to Item, Throw, and Draw Out quantity/ability use.
5d) Regarding monsters, there is a limit of one monster per family.
5d1) Monster action/RSM selection does not interfere with human selection.  You are free to have a human with critical quick and a bomb on the same team.

6) Equipment is limited to everything that is buyable from normal shops, minus thief hat and bracer, plus defender, holy lance, ivory rod, and ultimus bow.  No poaching trophies, no DD move finds, or other stealable rares.

7) Fights are best two out of three, on randomized maps, with an even spread of medium, large, and small sized categories.  Maps with an overabundance of depth 2+ water (Gate of Limberry II)  and overall poor positioning (END) will be removed from the pool.

Banned abilities/monsters:
Cure 4 - 2 AoE full party heal
Meteor - AoE is too large
Bahamut - AoE too large
Leviathan - AoE too large
Zodiac - AoE too large
Chirijiraden - Banned via equipment selection
Masamume - Banned via equipment selection
Elixir - Banned via equipment selection
Flare 2 - Obliviates too much other magic
Nameless Dance - Map wide unevadeable but random status effects
Accumulate - doesn't work properly

Monster Skill - Enables too many too powerful abilities (Choco Jinx = -60 Brave!)
Magic Attack Up combined with Draw Out
Hamedo

Vampire - Blood Suck is broken in this context due to loss of control and its plague-like spreading (this was a potential problem last season, but with the removal of elemental weaknesses the threat is more real)

Mime - Has innate Monster Skill

REGISTRATION

Send a PM to Barren or CT5Holy to submit your team.

To submit your team, you need to PM him or CT5Holy your team with the right format just like described in the guidelines. If one of us refuses your team, we will tell you what to fix and if you fail to correct it before the tournament starts, you will be disqualified. This may be, and not limited to: too high total brave, too low total faith, more than one of the same item/skill, etc.

FFT v1.3 (13038) Team submitting guidelines

First you have to specify your primary and alternate palettes. You can choose between 0 and 7. (Thanks, spriters!)
#0 Black
#1 Blue
#2 Red
#3 Green
#4 White
#5 Purple
#6 Yellow
#7 Brown

Then you must respect the following format:

This is the result:
A few notes
Name: A maximum of 16 characters. ONLY write the name. I don't care about game references or whatever, just don't write them.
Sex: Male, Female or Monster
Zodiac Sign: No serpentarius; sorry
Job: Don't forget to specify the "Monster" sex if it is a monster
Skills/Items: Never write "---", "empty" or anything else of the sort. Just leave the field blank.

By the way, everything is case insensitive. Don't feel forced to type capital letters except maybe for the unit's name.

***VERY IMPORTANT:
You have to use 1.3's spelling. Respect the spelling the best you can. I have provided the 13030 tourney text lists below but here are the most common mistakes:
• Common mistake > Right spelling
• Move HP UP > Move-HP UP
• Move +2 > Move+2
• Kikuichimoji > Kikuichimonji
• Crystal Helm > Crystal Helmet
• Carbini Mail > Carabini Mail
• H-Bag > H Bag

I also changed those 3 on purpose:
• Magic AttackUP > Magic Attack UP
• AttackUP > Attack UP
• Move underwter > Move underwater

Concerning listing action abilities:
- Spelling is not important
- The skills order (as they appear in the skillset) is not important either
- Avoid writing JP costs. They just take space.
- DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT write Reaction/Support/Movement abilities here.
- I don't care about your Total JP used either; my spreadsheet calculates better than you ever will.
- You can just write "All Geomancy" or "Cure 1/2/3" if you want; that will actually be easier to read.

I am copy/pasting this into my spreadsheet so here is an example of an entry that I will not accept:

I have the right to refuse teams that have too much typos, do not respect the format or have too much brave/too low faith or breaking the JP cap. If I do I will send you a PM to give you a chance of fixing it.

This is a perfectly respected format:

If you want to test/check your teams JP costs, grab the patch/spreadsheet here

FFT v1.3 / Season 5 Tournament rules poll
« on: April 08, 2011, 07:20:32 PM »
Please vote here

philsov:
5) Limit one of anything and everything.  Every action ability, reaction, support, movement, and piece of equipment can only be found once per team.
5a) Innates count.  Ninja means no one else can have two swords.  Mime means you cannot have a monk/martial arts, mediator/monster talk, or thief/concentrate.
5b) Draw Out and Throw can only appear in one skillset per team.

Odal:
5a) Limit one of each piece of equipment per party.
5b) Limit one of each secondary skill set per party. eg.
Three Chemists with Draw Out, White Magic, and Time Magic is OK.
Chemist with Draw Out and Priest with Item is OK.
Chemist with Draw Out, Priest with Item, and Time Mage with Item is not OK.
5c) Limit one of each RSM ability per party.
5d) Limit one Thief, Samurai, and Ninja per party.
5di) If the party has a Thief, then no unit can equip Steal or Concentrate.
5dii) If the party has a Samurai, then no unit can equip Draw Out or Two Hands.
5diii) If the party has a Ninja, then no unit can equip Throw or Two Swords.
5e) Limit one of each skill within each skill set per party.

5di, 5dii, and 5diii override 5b and 5c.

~

Biggest difference between the two is Odal's permits more primary class stacking (ie, multiple chemists) while philsov's bans it (due to multiple throw item), but Odal's prevents stuff like 4x Black Magic while philsov's allows it.

im sure some of you have notice when i post season 4 loser's bracket matches you'll see some buggy text error....i have brought it up in the season 4 topic...if one of you see this video i was wondering if you know how to fix the spell/skill quote text error because the battle.bin file i originally got from otabo (which is also in philsov's s4 directory) when i import it over the original battle.bin file in CDmage, it somehow screws up the text...watch this video and you'll see what i mean
