This section is for discussion on skill changes as well as new skills that have been created.

Changes to existing skills:

Silf now does wind damage with a chance to cause silence.

Leviathan - Removed

Salamander - Removed

Return 2 - Renamed Return, now auto targets all enemies.

Demi - Renamed Gravity, AoE 0, success rate 100%, Darkness elemental

Demi2 - Renamed Gravira, AoE 0, success rate 100%, Darkness elemental

Truth/Un-Truth skills removed

Bio - Damage value equal to lvl 1 black magic, only the green version exists now.

Bio2 - Renamed Biora, Damage value equal to lvl2 black magic, only green version exists now.

Bio3 - Renamed Bioga, Damage value equal to lvl3 black magic, AoE 1, only green version exists.

Toad2 - Removed, Toad 2 is now Bioja, AoE 2, damage equal to lvl4 black magic.

Blind2 - Removed, Now Shadow Flare, AoE 2 Blue Magic

Stock Break
Climhazzard (red omnislash)

Cure - alternate cure spell "tainted with darkness". slightly stronger than the normal cure and can also heal undead.

Evercure - Water elemental, full cure can be cast on 1 target anywhere on the map.

Wrath of Land - Draw out radius, earth damage to all targets in area except caster.

Cyclonic - Draw out radius, wind damage to all targets in area except caster.

Incinerate - Draw out radius, fire damage to all targets in area except caster.

New "Starry Heaven" skills:

Hasten - Hasten on all allys 50/50 chance success per target

Delay Order - Slowga on all enemies 50/50 chance success per target

Return - Set enemy CT to 0 50/50 chance success per target

Enemy ONLY:

Fascination - Charm all enemies 50/50 chance success per target

Overcast - Blood Suck all enemies 50/50 chance success per target

Osmosis - regenerate a large amount of MP instantly. target self only

Roulette - 100% chance Death OR Quick global targetting

X-Zone - Using the "dark/evil looking" status in combination with Vanish and Wall. This will render the unit unusable for the rest of the fight. its almost like Petrify except you cannot be recovered from it and it has a death counter

currently MA based like normal draw outs, they are slightly stronger which means Elmdor will be more dangerous as well.

Now the monster skills are somewhat weird. Like that Quakega that the Sacred do. I was thinking it would be like the Titan animation but just no picture of Titan

any skill that uses effect files can be assigned any other effect file with fft patcher. i could have made accumulate or throw stone look like it if i wanted to lol. Btw im thinking of making them use a different animation than raising their hands since no weapon is there being drawn out.

that is merely an arm raisng animation as well almost the same as spellcasting. Ill experiment with a few things, like the shadow stitch animation and such.

that doesn't make it good or evil

but since the effect file im using somewhat resembles one anyway plus it looks close enough to be used for this. that is what i have chosen

Edit:
Okay so this is what the "sword spirit" would look like if i gave them the same animation that "shadow stitch" uses, instead of the draw out animation.
the caster here is Ignis of course.

when you tested that battle did it actually inflict "Dead" sometimes? i havent tested it enough times to get the status infliction.

btw i fixed all the name text, and gave the Draw Out quotes to those versions of the skills.

btw check the newjobs, post for Ignis, i posted a screenshot of her new setup. Shell come with Salty Rage and Cachusa (which gives a better hp/mp bonus than originally

good, glad to see it worked as i was starting to wonder if it was ignoring the status infliction.

also, im going to have to make something random use "muramasa" if Ignis is to get it blue mage style since u get her after the point where you have stormed limberry. I also converted the skills to a PA formula, however I'm not real content with using formula 2D. id prefer a special ASM hack for Damage = PA*Y, and Heal = PA*Y for murasame

i can make her first class mastered with lvl8 job but she wont have anything else unlocked but like chemist and knight and archer.

or i can make her Class mastered with lvl1 (which would look tacky)
and have her set to lvl something samurai or whatever else unlocked.

New dance for enemy dancers
Mystery Tap - You'd think its the same thing as "last dance" however,
It's more like grand cross in terms of success.. watch out!

New Song for enemy bards
Lullaby - Actually an enemy targetting bard song. Sleep at all enemies.
Deis will have access to this skill as well.

Roulette [Harlequin/Joker] - Targetting all enemies, a 50/50 gamble, either Death or Quick

Fascination [Harlequin/Joker] - Charm single unit anywhere on the map (ignore's gender)

Evercure - Heal 100% hp to any one unit on the map! (which enemy only character gets this? not decided. [This could also be altered to be a weaker healing spell (like cure2 ish)  that Cleric type jobs have]

Ragnarok - DEB's knight sword "draw out" [this skill might be taken out]

Overcast - Target all units, if dead, revive them as blood suck status

i couldnt recolor "icewolf bite" so i copied the image from icewolf and pasted it into hellcry punch and the recolored it. icewolf looks like a spearhead in my opinion

yes they can, if you use a tyler program you can delete the image without removing the rest. vanya did it with leviathan and i did it with salamander

perhaps "tyle layer pro" the images are distorted, you have to be careful not to remove the data portion of the file

you could remove it from the summoner skillset and change the animation so that it looks like a normal spell.. all of this requires using a hex editor tho.

Yes...but then summoner won't be having cyclops summoning spell right?
So by changing the animation effect for cyclops, summoner can't use cyclops effect for cyclops' spell as there will not be showing cyclops image.
And how to remove the image?

well if u have a picture of the cyclops effect somewhere, then look in tyle layer pro and see the distorted shape of cyclops and remove only that

Erm...here are some pictures...

The first picture is I opened battle.bin file

The second picture is I go to offset "2CEEE" which is cyclops hex animation.
Now, which is the tile for cyclops image?

k, well...

zoom it out as far as it will go, then stretch the window as far vertically as you can and scroll down, you should see images further down...

now you may have to adjust how wide it is horizontally to reveal a solid shape. thats different for every file. anyway, compare the picture of Clops here, you will see that the clops picture is at the bottom corner.

when you scroll down to the bottom in TLP you can see the distorted shapes of the images that are along the bottom. notice you can see clops, next to the same circles and energy effects as in the picture.

It is sometimes hard to tell where one image ends and the next one begins, of course its a bit trial and error but you can just replace all of his section with black squares and you wont see the clops picture anymore.

Just another out of the area idea, but maybe you could recolor Flare 2 to Grey/Black/White Tint and make that Shadow Flare instead of Blind 2.

there is some program that displays the images as bmps but you cant edit them that way.
cant think of the name right now.

as for "shadowflare" that is easier said than done. for one thing we dont know how to change what color the screen tints to so it would remain red.
besides, i plan to use the more stunning "blind 2" effect file for shadowflare.

yes it is, but notice how you can see 2 clops there? make it the size horizontally so that you can only see 1 clops. and then you can remove it all at once.

I've been editing some text, skills, and sprites so far.
Never before edit such.....err....much more complicated things.
I like clops effect...So planning on using it as skill but without the image of clops ^^

Well, the truth is, it looks abit funny due to the camera focusing at the top which is suppose to be clops image.
Now that i've removed it, its empty there but the camera still focus at there...So, its abit funny though.
But anyway, still really appreciate all your help ^^

thanks, so with these 2 and counting the flood spell, which is leviathan without the picture

i now have all 4 water spells and all 4 wind spells

all i have left of the elements is lvl2 and 3 earth spells, but that could prove to be a challenge

actually the top one doesn't look as good becasuse it doesn't have any texture, the second one and on has that cloudy look which is what a tornado should have

this skill was originally "finish touch" but its been turned into "cyclonic"

its pretty easy, snespal lets you find the address of the color then you can easily recognize the 200 bytes that is the color palette. ive copied one palette and pasted it into another, (still doesnt change the tinted screens but still)

The first looks best for the purpose, in my opinion.  The red coloring makes me think of blood mages and the like some patches are using/plan to use.

you cant save them! mwahahahahaa

i dont know if im going to keep it as a skill or not since their counter's dont go down... so theres no way to make them crystalize with this status but you cant revive them for the rest of the fight either

Seriously tho, two new status altering skills
X-Zone, Banish, and Transmute

Banish - i think you guys have seen this spell on other patches, i plan to use it as well. a 50/50 chance of getting crystalized instantly.

Transmute - almost the same as banish, however, its a 50/50 chance of being turned into Treasure

X-Zone - Ideally i want the crystal/treasure counter to decrease, however, at this time the status causes the CT to freeze. The unit's status cannot be viewed and the unit cannot be revived. You do not lose the unit permenantly but you cant revive them during the battle. (i might instead use "wall" in combo with "dead"  to make them unsaveable

I am also considering altering some spell names of the 4th tier

Firaja = Conflagration
Blizzaja = Absolute 0
Thundaja = Thunderstorm

Aeroja = (Already 'Tornado')
Quakeja(lol) = Earthquake

Flood = Torrent or Maelstorm

Catastrophe sounds cool, I ended up using that name for a new Black Mage magic using the Cherry Blossom animation and getting rid of Cherry Blossom.

Catastrophe doesn't sound very fiery to me. Inferno, maybe? Solar Flare? Banefire?

Instead of Thunderstorm, how about... Rolling Thunder? Just tossing out some ideas. I like Absolute 0 for Blizzaja though (and this patch, it's looking good).

hmmm CT you're right, i haven't used "inferno" anywhere :D

Melt is the alternate lvl4 fire spell but only Lavian has it (and hashmalum and generic desert sorcerers)

as for Thunderstorm vs Rolling Thunder, im not sure yet but it might work especially with the way the effect file works.

im sure ill find a place for "catastrophe" too somewhere...

ill put out an alpha patch for ppl to test out as soon as i go thru each entd battle one by one. the story stuff will be fucked up, but it will mainly be for the battle testing

its primarily changes to battles, skills, and available characters.

The story isn't completely altered, only so to the extent of working around the characters you were normally not supposed to get. (or those who weren't supposed to last as long in the game hehe)

it's pretty much a recolor, in certain effect files such as this one, you can make it practically any color you want. the red mist,however, is using an unknown source for its color palette so i cant change that.

Sword skill effects are relatively large as well, but as i mentioned before, i converted all the oracle skills to use the effects of the magic sword versions since those are not in my game. This effect in the screenshot was inserted into the slot that normally held the large version of "pray faith", I also had space to insert barret's Satillite beam which is a red version of the normal ultima.

I got an idea but im not quite sure how it could work.

I was wondering if perhaps there was a way to make certain skills, some custom sword skills, get stronger when "bare hands" is equipped and still include weapon power in the formula

sounds odd im sure, but it would be to put a unique spin on those skills.

As nice as Overcast is... it's impossible, because you Cannot Revive and Apply, the game doesn't work that way. Since to revive you need to Cancel: Dead.

Since there's at least one formula that is specifically designed to target undead, couldn't you just alter it to target dead instead?  Assuming of course that it looks for the status.  I've never tried zombifying then petrifying enemies.

no, all i did to THIS one was change the color palette with 'snespal'
but ive used tile layer pro for moving images from one effect file to another

And Watera and Waterga are recolored bio2 and bio 3 spells however, i also used tile layer pro to paste in the bubbles from "hydragon pit" the recolor was to match the bubbles

I am also planning on pasting in the "allure" heart and the "steal heart" gfx into a bio2 spell to create the multi targetting Love Token/Fascination spell

Okay soooo there are sooooo many of these sword required skills its crazy... Now that zodiac has designed an ability requirement hack I was considering making some of them work with more than just swords.

The following will all include Swords, Knight Swords, Katanas, and Ninja Blades:

Holy Sword (5 skills) + ???
Dark Sword (4 skills) + Axe
Mighty Sword (4 skills) + Spear
Cross Sword (3 Skills) +  Dagger

they are pretty much the same, however they allow the user more options as well as limit certain skills: for example, Mustadeo's "Blast" skill can only be used with guns

It's that various abilities can only be used by certain weapons. Blast would be Gun exclusive. Likewise, you could have something like "Vorpal Thrust", which would be Spear only.

It's about making abilities have more options of limited equipment than just swords. It's like how Meliadoul could equip spears and crossbows, but that disabled her sword skills. This is allowing units to be specialized, and gives the "Equip _______" a purpose.

I mispelled nibel yes, it is correct in the game however.

And I may use Lenneth as a DD random special if she is ever completed, however, I already have a story character with that job "Monica" who appears in 2 scenes in chapter 1 and then a battle in chapter 3 and chapter 4. I am very interested in that Sprite being completed, I do need a powerful DD miniboss random so she would be great since i already have a valk job in my game.
