PS2 uses CD's, DVD's and DVD-DL, depending on the game

They are different due to size and some hex code controlling them.

UWEntries lets you reallocate the unit and wldface to other slots which makes it easier to setup new characters for slots that arent used.

Prolly wont work with WotDerp though lol

I understand that jot5 is a very advanced patch. What I meant is that it feels simple to play and a lot of unnecessary stuff were cut off the game.

I wonder how the damage balancing were done.  Most enemies take much more hits to kill than in vanilla. The battle mechanics and overall balance is just fantastic.

Hi,

I'm working on a personal vanilla mod and one of the main features I want in there is reduced damage to keep fights much longer.

What I've done so far is I adjusted grows and multipliers so max PA is 10 for monk and 11 for Knight. Max MA is 22 for Black Mage - this is done to keep scaling better. It's similar how vanilla monsters PA and MA scaling was done.

There is no skills or items to alter PA, MA or SP in my mod. SP is also slightly reduced to keep scaling more under control.


Monk standard attack with Brave 97 and 10PA is about 150 depending on zodiac. Can be double that with dual sword.
Ninja can do maybe a little bit more but it's very unlikely to 1HKO anybody as max HP was improved for all melee jobs.



My questions is what challenges and problems I may get and what are potentially better solutions?
How Jot5 is balanced? The damage at the beginning is about the same as on my patch and it seems to stay low.
How boosting DEF for all jobs would work out?
I really like the genius level of simplicity in Jot5 and would like some of that in my personal vanilla  mod.

Trust me, there is nothing simplistic about how Jot5 was made. Its got more ASMs than most patches on here combined, lol

Great job man. Very impressive. I did several clay versions of FFT maps many years ago and then painted them but those were nothing compared to this. Again, well done.

Thank you for reporting back. This issue is likely caused due to only having changed 1 instance of their name and not doing so elsewhere or something else of the like. Tactext is a finicky bastard. Next time use Xifs text helper. Waaaaay better

I can tell you its not a vanilla bug, as we've been able to accidentally trigger it by mistake while testing mods and ASMs in game. It's caused by derping something in tactext.

So if you've tried that many different images or discs, then either your save has some residue data from a mod in it, or your emulator has somehow caused some serious issues. I've been playing FFT for 18 years and never once have I had that happen in a vanilla game.

Please correct me if im mistaken and i hope i am but FFTVGRP is still needed to import the portraits of monsters with different palettes.
shishi allows us to import UNIT.BIN monster palettes one by one but thats not the case for portraits or atleast i couldn't find a way to do it with shishi :/
of course this is only the case if people wants to add custom monsters and make them recruitable.

also, RIP CDmage and

I've not checked. But if shish can export them with all 3 palettes in 1 image then it should import the same way.

Also, CDMage isn't great unless you need to truncate something on import. Use CDProg instead

No confusion, just another guy being extremely arrogant in assuming he knows better than everyone else on the site, claiming they've done it all but having nothing to show for it.

Action has been taken against the offense. Hopefully in the future they will come into things with a better attitude about things they don't really understand.

We are a MODDING site that deals with games, not a gaming site that deals with mods. You want handholding, go to gamefaqs or something. This place is supposed to be for people with a basic understanding of modding, or atleast how games work, who can follow instructions and make deductions based on knowledge and document their findings if they aren't already documented.

I will edit the post in a few days, just moved and dealing with some issues in that currently.

Though I should also add, with the latest FFTP, you can do this all with shishi, eliminating the need for FFTEVGRP altogether

Except this was a custom story mod. As well as a buttload of ASMs to make all the different elements for pokemon work, plus the evolution ASM and a bunch of other stuff so that's not really the case here.

Vanilla mods are boring, and have been done to death, sorry
