Wired has an article on the "Bronies".

Hub also released a promo which is a cover of Katy Perry's "California Gurls"

I fully expect to be demolished.

I am more curious to see how my AI manipulation worked.  I intentionally had no curing on my team, only the power to revive.  The reason is that I did not want my guys to waste turns healing when they should be attacking.  Also I did not know that level 4 black magic were allowed in this.  If I did, I would have used them.

Here's another article by Novella.  Here he compares the two leading theories on so called alien phenomenon: actual extra-terrestria life, or the "psycho cultural" hypothesis.

I like the fan vids that replace the audio with something else:

I also have found example of "weirdest boner":

Rarity whining.  Sexy.  Her whole voice is awesome.

I am not familiar with all of these cases, but I have read about the Jerusalem UFO:

IIRC, the cartoon was made by the same people who did Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, so it's not surprising that it's well-written.

That's true.  However, I've never seen that show.  Also, Lauren Faust (who is the director) is the wife of the guy behind PowerPuff Girls.  A show I loved.

Oh my god, first they invaded 99chan and now they're here RUN FOR YOUR LIVES, THE PONIES ARE COMING!

Oh, I'm just making the one thread.  And we've mostly just invaded imageboards.  We're only now moving onto the regular imageboards.

UNRELATED:

Picklechan.  While cute, she seems like a bit of a bitch.

You can donate your idle pc's computational powers for various scientific enterprises.  420chan has a nice faq/overview of this here

I have created a FFhacktics team for the World Community Grid.  This one specializes in medical and humanitarian projects.  Download, make an account, and then join the team.  The Team can be found here.

I can make more teams for the various other projects if you guys wish to.  You can find a giant list of such projects here:

Nasa has a tendency to overhype these things.  I can't blame them.  Still, it will be worth checking out.

Quote from: "Voldemort"so, did anyone see those star trek episodes and know WTF they are talking about?

Star Trek is really bad at throwing a lot of meaningless technobabble.  You can kind of get the gist of what they're saying, but its mostly meaningless nonsense.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TechnoBabble

John Benneth is a scary/crazy motherfucker.  For his vid complaining about Steve Novella (a critic of homeopathy), he titled the vid "Yale's Nigger".  Yes, he went that far.  He's also compared the treatment of Homeopathy to the treatment of Jews by the Nazis.

Quote from: "Kaijyuu"Curious; what bugs out about the patch in ZSNES? ZSNES sucks so it's not impossible for it to be the emulator's fault, but most of the time it allows stuff it shouldn't rather than the other way around.

Which snes emulator should I be using?  I have noticed some slowdown in Zsnes, and SNES9X can be a bit glitchy at times.

Quote from: "Mari"I used to have one of these set up a while back.
It's a good cause, just make sure it's a legit one and not some faker trying to get your stuffs.

If its through the BOINC platform, then it should be legit.  You can also check up on them here:

Several screens go black.  The equip items/magic/etc screen for one.  I did not play for much longer, so there could be more.

In snes9x, you'll occasionally get a garbled avatar on some characters in your formation screen.  This is minor, as switching to another character clears this.  I haven't seen any others yet.

Also: What are the differences between the snes, saturn, and playstation versions?  I think Saturn had voice acting, and there are a few cosmetic differences.

I'm much farther in now.  Stuff that I like more than FFT:

1. Alignments.  Lawful, neutral and Chaotic.  Affects what jobs they can get.  Love it.
2. Much larger stages.  2 or 3 times larger.
3. Max of 30 guys on your team.  10 guys per battle.
4. Weight system
5. Training mode with 2 player option.  So cool.  Me and my little brother use it all the time.  Why wasn't this in FFT?
6. Limit to healing items.  No annoying "Rez cycles".  They'll use a potion or two, and that's it.
7. Very flexible with equipment
8. Mages equip 3-4 spells.  Allows for more customization, and each wizard can be different.  They can't cast all the spells.
9. Rare random battles.
10. Dead bodies instantly vanish, so corpses don't crowd the map.
11. Aren't instantly cured between battles.  This forces you to swap out the weaker ones.
12. No saves between big battles.
13. Can save in battle.

Criticisms:

1. Imbalanced.  Bows, magic and other long range weapons seem better than melee weapons.  Many classes are just better than other classes.
2. Levels matter WAY too much.  If a boss character is a few levels more than me, I might end up doing only a few points of damage.  I remember doing playthroughs of FFT where I would beat it at level 30, when everyone else is 50.
3. Any unit that rushes forward dies.  Most battles have me retreating and hitting them with magic or bows.
4. Most of the game = grinding
5. For plot, there are so many factions/ethnic groups/people, etc.  I have no idea what's going on.  Game: "Oh no, Bacrum's invading!"  Me: Who?

The snes patch is not 100% compatable with zsnes, so I'm forces to use snes9x.  But, it allows for speedup.  So it makes the grinding less tedious.

Now that there's a snes patch, I'd love to balance out Tactics Ogre, like we did with FFT.

Distributed computing is when many computers work together to complete a very large calculation. It is an alternative to using large super computers. Scientists use distributed computing for many worthy scientific and humanitarian tasks, such as hunting for gravitational waves, running climate models, or searching for cures for cancer. By simply downloading a program and having it run when your computer is idle, you can participate in such projects. After setting up the program, it downloads and uploads the data automatically. Make sure to go to preferences and set them to what you are comfortable with (CPU usage, network usage, etc).

I've set up teams for each project for the Center for Inquiry organization that I work with.  Please join them if you can.

Platforms:

1. BOINC (windows, mac, linux)
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

Initially designed for SETI@Home, it has since expanded and runs many other science projects.

- A list of projects can be found here
- Many projects use nVidia or ATI GPUs to speed up calculations.

2. World Community Grid (windows, mac, linux)
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/

It focuses on humanitarian and medical projects.

- This can be run through BOINC (see above), or through a standalone platform.
- List of WCG projects:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Community_Grid#Active_projects

3. Folding@Home (windows, mac, linux, ps3)

http://folding.stanford.edu/

This program runs one project, and it focuses on simulating protein folding.

- CFI team code: 173631
- PS3 installing FAQ: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-PS3
- PS3 will complete tasks much faster than regular computers

I just started a game.  Learning the basics.  Playing the newly translated snes version.  It only works right on snes9x.

I like how each unit can only bring a few items into battle.  So there's no rez chains like in FFT.

Any tips?  Its a bit confusing.
