Can anyone help?... I'm having problem with this text editor.

I keep getting an error whenever I patch my FFT-WOTL ISO... It keeps saying "Object not set to an interface".

This is the method I used.

-Import text from a clean ISO.
-Edit text in Quickedit
-Patch to a copy of my clean ISO.

After that I still get the error. Im using the PSP version by the way...

Hey, erm...If edit text in Quickedit, like example jobnames, so what would happen?
Is it the jobnames at formation, battle will change?
Kindly upload the images to other image hosting sites. I can't view imageshack. Thanks.

I return with a tiny problem.

After a while of experimenting and screwing up ISOs, the editor started replacing letters and pairs of letters into strange symblos.. It happens right after when directly patching the ISO, when the progress form checkmarks the need of DTE..
It calculates it, and then screws up all letters in pairs.

The results are scary.

Anyone know what went wrong? Maybe I exceeded letter limit, or went too under it?
Maybe it was directly patching the ISO repeatedly..?

I've glitched and damaged like 4 ISOs so far. :D

Brought to you by Titsbitgit...

._.

All of this happened after repeatedly text editing the ISO directly. Unaware of byte limits and all, with the new editor.

It turned archers into arshits.

Maybe keeping a limit on letters? I need help on this..

Hmm....I'm unaware of byte limits too actually but so far i haven't occur such problem.
But i need to patch text everytime after patched with ffpatcher for changes. If not, the text will show strange symbol.
So, what did you change anyway? Job description?
Also smash, can you help me on portraits, at spriting section? ^^
Kindly upload the images to other image hosting sites. I can't view imageshack. Thanks.

Yes, those strange symbols on FFTactext that mean 2 letters, replace any word having those 2 letters with wrong ones.
I changed alot of stuff, but mostly on unit names.

Oh...i see. Well, i haven't change unit names before.
I changed job names, skillset names, spell quotes, abilities names and so far, haven't occur such problem yet.
Hmm....So then the unit names you changed showed correctly? Is everything messed up or just the job description (image above)?

Try converting it to a different format (like a bin or something) and see if you can open it then.
  • Modding version: PSX

Eh? Philsov and Dominic's work hadn't had a single problem. Then again, I admittedly haven't done anything with descriptions yet. But I know Philsov has.

QuotePhilsov and Dominic's work hadn't had a single problem.

The beta version we were handed had some in-battle things get offset.  I could cast the spell "Worker 8" for example >_>.

The fix to this was combining a working portion from the hands of SB into melon's program, which (I think) was the "betabugfix" version that's been linked to rather frequently.

As for what's even causing Smash's problem, no clue.  My only suggestion is to start from scratch and add in text slowly on a clean iso, to try and pinpoint the source of the error.  I really don't think a charater limit is to blame unless you inserted a novel somewhere.
Just another rebel plotting rebellion.

The byte edits are confusing Melonheads patcher.

Melonhead's patcher uses a unique process called DTE. Im not entirely sure what that all entails, but its the compression and rearranging of certain text. Google it, DO NOT take my word for that one.

I can tell you that Melonhead used several bits of the Kanji space(i think thats right) to replace certain letters. to save space.

Say if you had the commonly used letters R and A right next to eachother, such as in the word "Pray" it would combine them into one graphic to save space, rather then keeping them seperate.

If someone has made a hack in the kanji space melonhead has used, the best guess would be that its reading the bytes as a font, rather then ASM. Or it could be his combined letters are throughly not liking the previous edits you did directly to it when it looks for Nessacary DTE.

Those two are actually very likely, but withought melonhead stepping in to explain the process in its entirety, i dont know.

I do believe the kanji space is an issue with the ASM hacks though. If melonhead did indeed use kanji space for the new combined letters. I clearly remember speculation of him using that. chat logs say it all.

@Zozma: Ive been editing text in battle. i remember us having the name of people in battle thing, but melonhead fixed that in the "betabugfix" version. so far ive encountered few bugs, only one is a major problem...move find item is being replaced by "is (insert random skill here), is okay?"
