I was playing through 1.3 yesterday and got to Yardrow/Yardow. After the battle, something strange happened. Before I got there, Ramza was 18 years old. But after I finished the battle there, he was suddenly 19. Not only that, but everyone who was still listed as alive at that point suddenly became a year older. This happens whenever I play through the game and get to Yardrow.

Anyone have any ideas about how this happened? I suspect that the same thing happens in the PSX version, but I can't verify that ATM.

I guess they didn't want to make a system for aging people at the right times because it did take this long for someone to notice anyway.

well think about it tho, if you roamed the map for quite a while, youd have like ramza being like 200 years old or something u know? so they have fixed locations where they age everyone by a year

don't they age everyone at the begining of the chapter?
that's the way it is on the PSX version
and on the PSX version everyone has a set birthday that they will age one year on that day
someone on GF actually found a bunch of them

Um, in the PSX version, my characters always aged on their birthdays. I have a save where Orinas is 14 years old, as a result.

Yeah, characters normally only age on their birthdays. What I'm talking about is all of the characters aging by one year once I finish the battle in Yardrow.

Samuraiblackbelt, you might be thinking about the transition from Chapter 1 to 2. A year passes by between those chapters.

From Chapter 2 to Ch. 3, three months pass by, and between Ch. 3 and Ch. 4, no time passes at all.

Yes.

The battle at Yardow was very, very long.

Haha! Interesting theory Voldemort... but I think they force the issue in Yardow to assure Ramza ends the game at least 18 years old. Since I don't think there's another time jump, at least that I am aware of.

I blame the exploding frog.

And, yes, this happens in the psx version too.

Quick noob question, how do you tell age?

Brave Story profiles. Pull up a character's entry, it lists their age there. If you're bored enough, you can also find every character's birthday in the event files. Actually, doing that, I found Lavian shares my birthday. :o
