It's with great pride that I present to you this big teaser, quarter-of-an-adventure! This proof of concept is here to tease your appetite for chapters 2,3 and 4. I do not plan, currently, on releasing this mod chapter per chapter.

Call of Power has always meant a great deal to me, and making this remake has been quite cathartic. I hope you will all appreciate the multitude of effort and will that went into this hack.

This topic will serve as a MasterThread for bug reports and comments. So beware of SPOILERS!.
Be aware that I had many issues with FFT orgASM, and thus bugs are inevitable.

I have too many people to thank, but the main ones are Xifanie for making so many tools, and 3lric for coercing me back into the FFH fold. Garmichael, with his addition of GDX, also changed the game by himself.

To the rest of the active FFH members, I owe you thanks in one way or another...
But enough!

Call of Power: Chapter 1 to 3 / Call of Power: Remake

It's time to officially announce it (On the forums at least).

I've decided to remake Call of Power. After starting this project back in 2009 (So old), quitting and coming back several times, I think it's finally achieve what I started. However, looking back on the original version, I understand that it was a product of my youth. I was motivated my a lot of passion, but lacked discipline and experience. I realize a new version is necessary, and I will work towards that goal to remake the first 3 chapters, and finish the overall story, to finally complete Call of Power.

This new version will simply be called Call of Power, or CoP

What's to expect?
- A world map system, that was absent from the old version.
- A revamped story that is more comprehensive, with more defined characters.
- Some all-new maps, at least 2 per chapter. And a lot of map edits as well.
- New classes with new abilities, while keeping some of FFT's originals.
- Some unique sprites changes, and some less unique.
- A working weapons and magic triangle, unlike CoP's completly broken mess.
- A tutorial to learn the new mechanics.

I do hope to be able to achieve this sooner than later, and will sometimes post my updates and progress to keep me honest. All the while, of course, managing my mental health.

Here's a preview of a new event to serve as the introduction to Gospel!

Dear FFhackers,

I dissapeared some years ago and never bothered to tell the community why I decided to leave.
I left for a multitude of reasons, most turning around CoP. I failed to deliver time and again, and I failed to motivate myself. I won't get into the details - but the last few people that were very supportive left the site and it did not help. It was a gigantic effort to go in alone, but I should at least have set limits. I did not.

I came back today to say sorry to those who wanted the project to be completed and that were waiting pointlessly for it, and to those who were there in times before, a double sorry for trying to blame you instead of taking responsabilities.

This does not mean CoP of back on track. I always felt guilty of not finishing it, and could never bring myself to delete the files on my desktop... Recent discussions with Elric have made me want to finish it, but I wonder if it's just the spur of the moment. Time will tell, but this time il inform the community of the decision.

Well it's no surprise that I took this long to think about it, I am good at taking my time.

At first I wanted to make a big, emotionnal post about what finnaly gave me the edge to decide I would continue CoP and finish chapter 4, but I think that'd be better reserved for my final post, once it's all done and fixed.

I did set up some hard dates because I have another projet to finish first and some personnal things to take care of, including a surgery (I am certain to come back alive anyway).

I'll start back the work in July 2016. I expect to be finished by January 2017, but aiming for december 2016.

Hello! It's been a while!

First off, I wanna thank the amazing support I've gotten over the years, even if it was spread out. I hope that those who patiently waited will be able to enjoy Chapter 3 of Call Of Power! Plus, the technical support and tools I've gotten here are the ONLY reason I was able to get so far.

Remember this patch is made for fun at it's core, and I hope everyone appreciates it.

A new savefile is necessary, or you'll run into massive bugs and disapointement!
There was a kind-of massive renewal of the skills of most classes, and more are coming to make this a better experience.

RP Forum / Roll to dodge!

Roll to Dodge! is a unique text adventure, in that you don't control one character. You control yourself. Each person that submits an action will be acting of their own accord, on their own character. Characters may interact with the environment and each other any way they wish. Because of this, you may only submit one action per roll. I will take the latest action you submit, and if you accidentally make two actions at once, I will take only the second one. If I catch it before the time I update, however, I'll attempt to leave a warning.

Updates will take place at ROUGHLY (+/-5) 10pm GTM-4, at random intervals that should be between 1 and 2 days.

What kind of actions you can perform? Well, first of all, try to avoid doing something too obscene. Outside of that, however, your actions and the consequences are only ruled by two things: Your imagination, and these:

That's right! When I update every day, I will be rolling a die. This is part of the reason behind why this game is called "Roll to Dodge!" Any action you make has a chance of failure or success based on the outcome of a 1d6 roll. Here's a breakdown of what happens:

1 - Epic Fail: The exact opposite happens
2 - Fail: You fail to complete the action
3 - Troubling Success: You complete the action, however not without trouble or damage.
4 - Success: You complete the action. That's it.
5 - Perfect Success: You complete the action well enough that you receive a boost from the outcome
6 - Overshoot: You complete the action so utterly thoroughly that something unintended happens.

Of course, the other part of the reason why this game is called "Roll to Dodge!" is because you also have to dodge things. Players may attack one another, and the Environment (as well as any denizens of which) may attack players of their own free will as well. If you are attacked, I will automatically roll for your character. Here is a breakdown of how the roll affects you:

1 - Fatal Wound: You die
2 - Serious Wound: If attacked again within the next two turns, if you roll a 3 or lower, you will die.
3 - Grazed Wound: Your suffer a penalty.
4 - Graze Clothing: You take no damage, Nothing happens
5 - Graze Score: Your evade and gain something.
6 - Counter: The attack will - If a player - be forced to roll to dodge, or if part of the environment, be destroied/defeated.

Additionnal rules :
- You control only your own character
- You can submit (almost) any action.
- The goal is elimination of the other players by making them Roll to dodge!
- Once you're dead, you can still ''attempt'' to play, but it will do nothing unless you roll a 6.
- You wake up in a grassy field, and >wake up should be your first action.
- You may get items or boons to help you, those will be kept. Seeking bonuses may very well give you some.
- Attacks are usually restricted to one person at a time, unless you get a certain boon/item. This is to make my life easier.




Btw, all commands should look like this

"> [Command]"

> Build a Mecha for fighthing:
1: You deconstruct your petting hand. (-1 to next roll)
2: You forget how to make things.
3: You make the mech, but it's not sturdy and falls on you. (-1 to next roll, you get a broken mech.)
4: You make a battle mech and he's pretty neat! (You get Battlemech : Can't roll a 2 while attacking.)
5: You make the mech and the magical killer fairy helped you, resulting in a killing machine! (You get SuperBattleMech : Can't roll a 1 or 2 while attacking.)
6: You make the Battlemech, however the AI is too developed and it sees you as a threat, and begins shooting at you!

(thus, the 6 would bring up those options :)
ROLL TO DODGE THE GIANTS POTATOES:
1: You don't do it. X has died.
2: You get seriously wounded, but escape alive. X is injured!
3: You get away from the missiles, but a bullet gets you. (-1 to next roll)
4: You evade everything like a pro.
5: Not only do you evade everything, but ninjas are so impressed with that they decide to teach you a few tricks. (+1 to next roll)
6: You effortlessly destroy the mech with your pinky finger.

Hello all that want to participate.

Here is the topic for suggestions on how to rework the whole combat system. Every idea is welcome and should be very analysed and debated.

In short, all skills, all classes and all battles have to be reworked. In order to make a suggestion, next post will be filled with accumulated suggestions on those fields.

Dear FFH Community, this is a call to arms.

As you may know I've been working hard on my patch for now about 4 years (Counting about 1.5 years of AFK). I've since tried multiple times to finish the job quickly, but as always, life got into the mix and forbade me from working adequately, be it job, procrastination or love life. Meanwhile, Call of Power is getting older and not worked on like it should.

Recently I made a promise to try to finish Chapter 3 by September's end, and Chapter 4 by January 24, to have a final version at March 31, 2014 and finally semi-retire from the FFH community, as I spent way too much time here.

After watching the playthroughs of my patch, I've seen its main weakness. The main problem people seem to have is that the combat in CoP is very boring. The classes are hard to use, the battles do not follow a difficulty curve and the skills are confusing. However, to fix all of this myself would require more time than someone who is experienced in gameplay mechanics, as I am simply an event/map editor.

Here is what I want from the community, a couple people to help me change this into a very enjoyable patch not just event and story-wise, but also combat-wise. Someone that would help me redesign most battles, the classes, and the general flow of battle.

The team would need to note most of what they dislike, design ways to counteract these problems and change them.

I ask of you to help me, FFH. I've been working very hard on CoP... harder than some of you can imagine, I've designed maps, I changed the entirety of the mod many times in order to make it better, but there are some things that I cannot do alone. I do think Call of Power deserves to get some major attention and rework in order to make it a community pride, like Journey of the Five.

A main change topic will be started in the CoP section. I encourage anyone who is interested to make themselves known. CoP has been a part of FFH for a long time, so let's work together to end it with a bang!

Help! / Shishi and the hatefull ISO

So yeah... after remaking CoP, I lost my original, good ISO that ran perfectly with everything. However, now I tried to open my ISO with shishi... and shishi does not want to.

I am not sure what to do, since CoP is 549,392ko and needs to be. :gay:

What could I possibly try to make it understand I love it and also, that I need to put new sprites in?

I think I remember a hack that permitted us to not have text while selecting ground. It would be very useful in my patch to have such a thing because I removed geomancers completely and made some new maps... I don't wish to re-brand all the ground just for esthetic purposes.

Call of Power: Chapter 1 to 3 / Back on track.

Thanks to Elric and RavenofRazgriz, I am back on track with CoP. The Iso has been completly reorganised, so now I will be able to add saves between each battles and have a better flow of events. It will also make it way easier for me to get work on my events done.

Of course, this implies some time of work on Ch1 and 2 but it can't take that long.

Chapter 3, event-wise, is about 1/8th done already since I had done some work before the long long pause. I plan to make at least 1 event a week, so if nothing goes wrong, Chapter would be out for July and il try very hard to finish chapter 4 (It will be short) by the end of the year, ending once and for all the story of Call of Power.
After spending another year doing bugfixes. ;-)

Call of Power: Chapter 1 to 3 / The obvious long pause.

As some of you may recall, this section was getting updated every so often but nothing new for months.

Reason is I am waiting for a file and constant personnal problems have left the people that wanted to help me behind on schedule. This makes me unable to advance as I would like to (I still make very slow progress from time to time... like map editing...). This said, I could advance, but I hate the way I have to do it, because I can't see the progression of my events as I do it, nor can I properly test battles. Aka I don't like to go back.

I blame nobody. Il just wait. I also have my personnal life getting in the way (University, gf, job, other projects...) yada yada. I am also testing my animation skills with Pirate pick-up-lines.

This said I am NOT leaving CoP behind and I still intend to finish it... but a deadline at this time is impossible. I do think it will be done by this date 2013, however. But faster would be liked.

This thread is purely informational and not made to blame people or excuse myself. I do feel guilty, but not enought to warrant a bwaaa-fest.

Here il post little sites I find with abosultely crazy people.

1: A guy talking about being ''Indigo'' whatever that means.
    1- Feeling like an alien. They feel that they're from another planet or dimension. They KNOW they don't belong here.

    2- It's easy for them to experience anger and other negative emotions.

    3- Egotistical thoughts. They think of themselves as powerful and don't like being talked down to.

    4- Resistance of authority. They refuse to accept anyone is above them. They get rebellious if they feel like they're being forced to live under imposed authority.

    5- They see things as they really are. They know society is a lie and that there are more important things in life than what most people seem to chase after.

    6- They constantly question life and dogmatic beliefs.

    7- They find "normal" jobs to be draining and stressful. If they try to live like everyone else lives, they will probably end up very depressed.

    8- Self-expression is as important as breathing to them. If an indigo can't express themselves as they really are, they tend to keep quiet or get really angry.

    9- They love intensely. When they're in love with a non-indigo, the love they express might be too strong for the non-indigo. When an indigo can't find another indigo to pair up with, they'll often be seen with older people who tend to be more capable of seeing the indigo for who they really are. Age is not an issue for them.

    10- They're prone to depression.

    11- Sense of mission. Indigos have come here to make a change, and deep in their soul, they feel that.

    12- Indigos have huge energy. Whatever they do, they do intensely. They have the capability of single-minded focus on what interests them. On the other hand, if something does not interest them, they are very good on NOT focusing on it.

    13- They usually don't do well in school because although they learn very easily, they end up getting uninspired by schoolwork.

    14- Indigos are multitalented. Their interests lie in anything creative, anything that expresses personal power, communication, spirituality and personal growth. They can also learn languages easily.

    15- Indigos are intuitive and they are empaths by nature.

    16- When they don't find other indigos to be with, they are loners. They get frustrated by not feeling recognized by others and dislike trying to relate at the superficial level that most non-indigos demand. They tend to have few relationships and prefer one-on-one relationships rather than groups when they are socializing with non-indigos. They get very uncomfortable in crowds and large groups, noisy places, and especially energetically charged atmospheres such as parties.

    17- They are highly sensitive. They FEEL more -- more pain and more pleasure -- because they are closer to their being.

    18- Indigos have a faster internal rhythm than normal people. This causes them to be impatient and want to have their desires faster, faster, always faster. They can't believe how slow life moves.

    19- Indigos have very steady gazes. Their natural tendency, if left unhindered, is to look someone very straight and very unwaveringly in the eyes.

    20- They have a tendency to have harsh childhoods. This is most likely because of their sensitivity and simply the shock of adapting to this world which wasn't made for them.


    If you have ALL, or at least 90% of these characteristics, chances are you're an indigo. Congrats! But now what?

    Q: I seem to have many of the qualities of an Indigo, now what? What do I do with it?
    Indigo's are simply people who were born at a higher vibration than the generation before. So we feel, very starkly, the contrast from the previous generation to this one. Many of us are angels, guides, fairies, Masters, etc born into a human body. Because of this and the resulting amnesia from incarnating we have a lot of issues being on Earth and then not knowing why we feel so powerful when everyone around us treats us otherwise. So what you do with your amazing energy is up to you. The overall purpose is to help those who are not like us.
