Sorry man, when you said events I assumed you meant events. What you were asking actually isn't event related at all

You would have to change the attack.out conditions as well as the event commands to that of a battle rather then a normal event

If your trying to make it show damage of an effect in an event you need to make it a battle event.

Several people know how to edit the Spell animations, there is also several threads regarding this (tho they may be older)
I know Taichii has edited some spell animations recently.

I'm horrible when it comes to spriting, but that puddle seems to have way to few colors for how the Flan normally looks, or maybe they are just oddly placed in the puddle, i dunno, but something about it doesn't look right.

I have used it in Windows 7 64 bit as well as Vista without any issue, dunno what may be required for it tho, such as netframe work and what-not.
