Hey there,

Im a little new here, and instead of just instantly jumping into creating my topic i did a little bit of research on a lot of the topics in some areas of interest.

After a couple days of searching and playing around with the programs, I wanted to move to actually enhancing my gameplay with new sprites, jobs, and difficulty (like everyone else here lol)

Anyway, my main question at the moment is what are all the things I'm going to need in order to fully hack my PSP. I havent bought a PSP yet or anything else for that matter, so I want to know what i need/should buy. do newer psp's work better? Will I be able to hack my psp if I buy the new Dissidia Pack? I also wanted to know what other things I need to buy.. I noticed ppl were talking about a pandora battery or something? will I need that? and lastly what other accessories will I need?

For those that have the answers I am gladly listening! and would soon like to be a help to those in need like myself!

Pandora batteries are necessary.  Older PSPs are easier to hack.  I've not done so myself, so I can't help you more than that.

I doubt the Dissidia pack may work...check if the PSP included is a PSP3000. If it is, DON'T GET IT. PSP 3000s can NOT be hacked, full stop. Get a PSP 1000 or 2000, preferably a 1000 as some 2000s have the V3 Motherboard which disables hacking, and DO NOT UPDATE IT.

The Dissidia Pack will come with a silver PSP-3000. You can run custom firmware (not install it, but run it) on it, if comes with a firmware of 5.03 or lower. I almost certain it will come with at least 5.50 firmware though.

Mental_Gear's post is on point though. To be more specific though, the PSP-2000s with the V3 motherboard are mostly:
- Blue Madden PSPs
- The last batch of Core Pack Piano Black PSPs

Everything else will most likely have an earlier motherboard. Even if it does have the V3 motherboard, you can still run custom firmware, if it has a firmware of 5.03 or lower.

Well the firmware is basically the program that controls the PSP, I guess like an operating system on a computer, custom firmware is just that, a custom version of the program that controls it.

Ok so do you download this firmware? or do you buy it?

Bit of both, you need to download custom firmware (for the people by the people for free, try psp3d.com) but you'll need to buy a pandora battery and magic memory stick, or at least the materials to make them.
