Moppets!

Looks pretty neat! Card games aren't really my thing so I can't comment much. I can see a lot of effort went into everything though, so praise be to ye for that.

I dunno if this is reasonably doable, but there's one thing I've always wanted for A2...

...the goddamn teleport boots to use the fast teleport animation, not the really friggin' slow one.

Recent versions of windows have support for the xbox controller, so I've been considering getting one solely to test/use it for my game creations. I do like controllers for some games (playing a fighting game on a keyboard is less than ideal), and more input options are almost always a good thing.

For perfect ideal interfaces, I'd probably agree that mouse support is superior to a controller for this type of game. Probably for less than ideal, too; one mouse gesture + click > 8 button presses. Bad interfaces are bad interfaces no matter what control scheme is used.

The big pitfall with dialog box choices is having multiple layers of them. Never have more than 2. I didn't see anything like that in your trailer so that's probably okay.

Oh and if one is worried about having to move the moues all over the friggin' screen all the time, many of these types of games automatically move your mouse to a newly opened dialog box. Personally I hate this, but if you're used to it, it could save your wrist some movement.

Ah, looks quite nice! Can't say much else from just the video, but it does look like you've got some good content and some decent visual flair.

AFAIK the actual monster types were pulled out of a hat. You can see their names here, which were on the background of the save/load screen.

Curiously Leviathan is one, despite being a summon too.

What makes you think this is an orgASM issue?

Nothing; sorry if it sounded like I was blaming the program.

Quote from: Jumza on September 06, 2015, 09:45:36 amAnyway, things to look out for: Make sure you have the most updated version of the ASM (which I guess would come with the most updated download for OrgASM), also make sure you aren't using 2 or more ASM's that overwrite eachother's space. I believe there is a program you can put the XML's into to see what ASM clashes with what. If not, then yeah, faulty ASM.

As mentioned, I'm using the ones included with the latest patcher suites. The threads of the creators of these hacks seem long dead, too.

I was testing the mighty sword ones standalone; haven't tested the fur shop one standalone yet. Might do that.

So I've applied some asm hacks included with orgasm and most work just fine. I'm having some issues with those two though. I'm using the ones included with .482 (which seem identical to .483). I'm testing with pSX and also the PSP's native emulator.

The mighty sword one works fine against units with maintenance. Verses everything else though, there's glitches. Here's what happens against something without any equipment in the slot:
http://i.imgur.com/vgAujPR.png

If I attempt to use the ability, the animation plays but no damage is done.

Verses things with equipment, the predicted % to hit is borked. It'll display some random value as the chance to hit, though it will always hit and break the equipment (I set it to 100% (64 in hex, the default) in orgasm so always hitting is the intended behavior).

(the old mighty sword fix has problems too, so I don't want to use that. It'll display """ was broken!" when nothing is in the appropriate equipment slot, and maintenance will block the attack entirely. Not really what I want.)

As for the broken/stolen items appear in the fur shop one, it sorta works but has problems. All broken or stolen items will show up in the fur shop. The problem is, it includes ones that were broken or stolen on enemies. So if I run off with all of Elmdor's genji set, there will be a duplicate genji set waiting for me in the fur shop. The behavior I expected was broken and stolen items only showing up if it was a unit on my team that had their item broken or stolen.

Anything I'm obviously doing wrong? Both these fix things that really annoyed me with the original game, so I'd prefer to not have to go without.

Help! / Re: ASM AI difficulty patch
August 21, 2015, 03:52:55 pm
Personally I'm not too concerned about invited units having abilities equipped that they don't actually know, so that's how I usually bump up difficulty. Makes it a bit less random too; if you come across a high brave blade grasper that was just randomly generated that way, it could very well be that the easiest way to defeat it is hit the reset button and try again.

The problem is that you're clicking on the link to go to the tool's wiki page, which doesn't exist for some like cdmage. You want to click on the link one column to the right, under "Versions."

Given the percentage chance to learn abilities, it's always possible they'll get something near the bottom of the list. Just unlikely.

Ok, so why haven't you tried downloading yourself a new FFT Image yet?

I have; two different sources. Next I'll probably try ripping an ISO myself.

Also CDmage doesn't spit that error prior to shishi's restructuring.
54
Ah, apologies for the misunderstanding.

Post Shishi, the byte count is indeed 552,701,184.

I don't know really anything about the iso's format, but I did notice the end of the file is different post-restructure. In the unmodified iso, there's just a very large number of 00s, but in the restructure there's a lot of random bytes.

If it's relevant, this is the error CDmage gives me. After hitting OK, it only shows me the BATTLE and DUMMY folders and their contents, along with battle.bin; all the other files aren't shown (maybe deliberately? I don't know what exactly the restructure is supposed to do other than rename the sprites in the battle folder).

Also if it's relevant, these are the errors pSX gives me when loading the Worker 8 event.
55
My base iso appears to be 541,315,152 bytes. I got it as an .ecm and that size is after being decompressed into a .bin.

Which tool would be used to expand it?

Help! / Re: turning eboot into iso problem
August 16, 2015, 08:30:44 pm
Tastic works with PSX saves (specifically .gme). If you have a PSP memory card file (.vmp) you can use the PSX PSP memory card converter to turn it into an .mcr. If you have a PSX memory card in a format other than .gme (such as an .mcr from the previously mentioned converter), you can use memcardrex to convert it to .gme and back.

Help! / Re: turning eboot into iso problem

What exactly are you trying to do? My hacked psx isos turn into eboots just fine. Post what series of actions you're taking and I'll see if you're doing anything wrong.

If you're trying to turn an eboot into an iso, there's the "extract iso" button.

If you're trying to turn War of the Lions into a psx iso, that's impossible.
58
Do you have the file open in any other programs?
59
I ended up avoiding the whole thing by not using shishi and changing sprites around manually. I never wanted to insert new sprite sheets (just wanted to change the numbers around), so this works for me. Marking as solved again.

My best guess is all the ISOs I found were slightly corrupted in such a way that it confused shishi.

You need load CDMage as mode 2...

I'm doing so. It's able to read some of the disk in mode 2; the other modes just don't work.

I obtained another ISO thinking mine might be broken in some subtle way, but nope, same issue.
