Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)

Yeah, and he had boots. Here's a new preview.

EDIT: Gotta do it with different boots, there's no way that I will be able to freehand an entire set of knight boots. Those boots are originally from the knight, but he wears a cape, so they're out.

I'm thinking Ramza 1's boots. Any other suggestions?

aight so i had decided to work on my berserker character again (finally after months) and im gonna take it a different direction altogether ill save berserker for later and come up with a new job for this... still in very early stages

Looks exactly like my best friend from elementary school would want to look like if ever he were sprited.  That's how I used to draw him in comic book form 15 years ago, anyway, minus the hat.

On topic: nice sprite.  Looks like he'd make an excellent monk/pirate/bobybuilder/Luke Cage-espe superhero type character.  I'd give him a 12-panel Wave Fist and invincibility regardless.

Well while I find it very impressive that you were able to do that hat, I have to say it might be a bit of a poor design choice. It just makes him look a bit too modern, and basically you just created a sprite of MC Hammer.

I think going back to the calc hair or even bald would be cool. But it is up to you.

bald was my first choice, then a bandanna, however untill i can complete the look im going for im using the hat. besides doing this sprite will create a  good template
for other characters like berserkers. the head is the easiest thing to change, i can do that at any time, its the pants that im trying to get right. they wont be mc hammer pants when im done.

haha well i guess flava flav could use his giant clock neclace to cast time magic spells.

at any rate its long overdue to add some more "color" to this game.

the baggy panats are only there because the male monk was used as a template to create this.

I'm all for adding some racial/ethnic diversity to this game as well. I always try to make one of my palette swaps a darker skin tone for my sprites. I think it would be cool if someone went threw and made like the second palette of a job a similar dark skin tone.

im planning on making a 6th palette for each job with darker skin tones. but any palette past 6, looks buggy when they turn into crystals and chests.

also on the lulu subject, that reminds me... there is some weird item in the sprite sheet for weapons.. it looks like a doll.... is there some dummied weapon type that i am unaware of? i've heard no one mention that doll image, but surely you guys have seen it by now.

Yeah i have seen it, but no idea what it is for.

I'm sure that the chest/crystal thing is a minor issue because the color of the crystal is probably the same palette number as that of the sprite. So either there is a 6,7,8 palette for the crystals and chests that we can assign (probably taken up by something else) or we just need to figure out if there is a way to differentiate which palette is used. But easiest of all would be to just change it so the first palette for chests and crystals is always used. Not sure if any of this is possible though.

no... the problem with the crystal/ chest thing is just that!, the color palettes for them are all in one sprite.

there are 5 palettes for the crystals, then one more black space which is enough for a 6th crystal.. immediately after that starts the chest palettes..

so the crystal will have the palette of a chest if its past the 6th one, and the chest will look buggy past the 5th one

Well that is at least one extra palette to work with. But really it is a pretty minor glitch.

WHOAMG i had never noticed the doll Im gonna be testing my ass off to get that for a custom weapon for lulu =D
