Spriting / Female Job Sprites
February 08, 2008, 06:47:23 pm
Well as promised I'm working on some ideas for female versions of the Red Mage and Blue Mage. The first Red Mage is decent looking, but is basically Meliadoul with a red hat so it isn't that original.

I think my favorite of the three is definitely the Blue Mage. She is a little bit too blue right now, but with changing her black skirt to a different color should redemy that. Any suggestions on color? My only other issue with her is that she looks more like a mage than a warrior mage, thoughts?

The last Red Mage was actually my starting idea, but she looks terrible. I really want the female Red Mage to be an armored badass, so I went with one armored and one unarmored arm. But she is just way to busy with different parts from too many people, and way too many colors. I still like the basic idea though, and I think if I get a different body and head for her that the cape and arms could still work well together. BTW only the center front shot is actually "complete". I also need help with the color of the armor. I'm looking for a good Bronze/Copper palette and haven't been able to find one yet. Right now I'm using the colors from Meliadoul arms, but if someone finds something better or is good at picking out colors that work with the FFT palette that would be helpful.

PSX FFT Hacking / New Job Idea
February 06, 2008, 02:14:41 pm
These threads often devolve into uselessness quite quickly, but I had an idea that I thought was interesting and I thought I would share it or at least write it down somewhere.

So I was thinking this would work well for a Fencer, but the abilities are more the issue than the job title. What if a physical class character could move on the grid as part of its attack. Like have a retreat attack where the character would attack and then move one space backwards if possible. Or an attack that would make it so the character would move past an enemy, making it so the character could get past a wall of enemies. Plus a jab or step-in attack or something so that the character would be able to attack one additional square forward. These moves wouldn't be very powerful, but could potentially be very strategic. A new defense stance that allowed the character to sidestep left or right at the moment of an attack so that the character ends up on a different grid space on the map could be interesting as well. Might dodge an arrow or sword, but most spells and a lance from the side would still connect.

I'm pretty sure that most of these things are impossible to implement right now, but I thought it was at least kind of original for FFT.
