anybody ever played any of the Phantasy Star games for the genesis? My favorite one was Phantasy Star 4, graphics were actually good compared to the other games.

You dare cross blades with me?

SilvasRuin

I played that demo of one that came out on the PSP some time back and it completely turned me off of the series.

The newer games have nothing in common with the classic games beyond common themes.
You shouldn't let the new 3D garbage turn you off until you've tried the old ones.
I would recommend trying out the 3 Genesis ones they're actually very solid games and pretty much the only good sci-fi rpgs available at the time.

Romancing SaGa/Final Fantasy Legend 3 was kinda good and kinda sci fi.

i've always thought that the older games were better than the news one ways. at least the first 4 games that came out had a story line that trends from previous games. the newer ones dont have anything to do with the story line they had going. its just randomness thrown out there

3 was absolutely amazing! 2 and 4 were good.
Didn't really like 1 because I dislike dungeon crawlers.

As the puppeteer pulls His strings,
The fragile doll spreads Her wings.
To dance a ballet as He directs
That is the Curse of the Marionette.

Controlled by a hand far, far above,
Forbidden to care, forbidden to love.
Forever shall She mime what She cannot know,
Until the day She loses her illusory glow.

Propped up on a stilt where wine once stood,
The Marionette is, once more, only wood.
Her glossy eyes have lost their shine,
Her silken hair, turned to twine.

What a fate awaits the poor little doll,
Who dances and runs but cannot stand at all.
And the puppeteer is applauded at the end of every show,
But the audience's joyous response the doll can never know.

I am but a doll on an endless stage,
Dancing for others whilst I slowly age.
My puppeteer sits far above,
Hiding His face behind a white glove.

And when I have aged to nothing but wood,
I will be tucked away in a closet where a doll once stood.
Then, as I gather dust and the world passes by,
I will be forgotten by the vast, blue sky.

did you have a favorite character in the series? I've always thought Rune was the best.

Yeah, the Phantasy Star Online games are action-RPGs where as the original series are traditional-RPGs.

I do enjoy the newer ones, still. But I don't consider them Phantasy Star games.
They're nothing the same except for some similar names of skills and items, etc.
