I saw those Lucavi sprites by Luiakyn; very impressive stuff. I'm glad you guys have a couple more monsters around the corner.

I won't derail Kage's thread any further but Kage, Elric, Choto, et. all, feel free to PM me any help you need for Jot5. Especially if it's portrait or palette work; palettes I can turn around quickly and I think I can Frankenstein a couple portraits together if you need me to.

Beautiful palette. I wonder if it may be too dark in game though. If you guys need more palettes churned out for this project, let me know; I think it's the one thing I might be able to contribute decently. I'll also try to post a mark or two or three soon.

Great project, guys. Keep up the good work.

I think it's been a couple years since I've posted. I wanted to read up on Tethical and wandered back over here, got blown away by their project, watched all the Jot5 playthrough videos (I'm so glad with the progress on that project), and decided to try and contribute again. Regardless, it's been too long.

Nice to see your spriting skills are still being put to good use. I was hoping we'd have a couple more unique monster sprites on this site by now, but whatever.

I dig the new hair on that Rydia sprite. Do the world a favor and finish this one.

Both hats look nice to me, but the finished product with the big hat looks nice. What are your plans for the portrait on this masterpiece?

It will come back with the release of JoT5 Chapter 1.
I love the JoT5 avatars/portraits that some of you guys have. That project has an awesome team--I've been lurking around, waiting for that release, so hurry up already.

Anyways, keep the portraits coming, Lijj. Hopefully I can give you some criticism here and there.

Oh man, this sprite has so much potential. I like the direction it's headed--a very classic look. I know that a lot of spriters feel like the Black Mage/Wizard hat is too gigantic to deal with; you can see that on a couple of the frames here. I'm tempted to suggest that you take the hat off the Elidibs sprite and work it onto this sprite. You don't have to though, cause this doesn't look bad at all.

Well done, Atma. I hope this sprite gets finished real soon.

Nice portrait, Lijj. Aside from the lengthy neck, the angle of her eyes and mouth are incongruous with the direction she's facing. I miss seeing all your custom sprites--hopefully we'll see some more in the future.

You can rip the palettes straight from the existing Dragons from Vanilla. I tried them out myself and they looked almost perfect. Yellow, green, purple, whatever you want.

That's what she said.

Back on topic, that is such a gorgeous sprite, Nojgaard. Honestly, your palette and tweaks to the body are fantastic. If you can rip more RW sprites and make them look this good, you'll be doing a great service to the community.

Oh, I just noticed your palettes are varied in skin and whatnot. Very nice. Anyways, I've attached a crude mask redesign. Your call on what to do.

I feel like the mask on the male's portrait is a pixel or two too low, I can post a suggest fix, if you don't mind. Have you considered other hair and skin colors for either of the sprites? They look pretty great either way.

Right now the shading looks a little flat. So yeah, drop the darkest red shade and add another hair color. Go ahead and add a little more shade to the bandanna too--you have three shades there, just distribute them so more. It's just blowing my mind that with one color for the background, one for the eyes, three for the bandanna, and three for the clothes, that there still isn't enough for the hair and skin. Whatever, just one more hair color should help out a lot.

Spriting / Re: ALL THE CHOCOBOS
January 28, 2012, 12:25:15 pm
There are some pretty nice ones here. Way before I realized hacking FFT existed, I had created some custom Chocobo palettes myself. I was always a fan of them looking natural in both FFT's setting as well as in the wild. Like, how would a black Chocobo be purple and survive in the wild? It's beyond me. I made a brownish/black palette, a jade green palette (much like Lijj's), and a less pink red one. It's been a decade, so those are long gone.

Back on topic though, I like these a lot. We should take the best 8 and submit em as one sheet. And be careful on the portraits, guys. Some of them look like they've lost depth, cause the shades are too close in color to one another.

As the creator of the original Gospel portrait, I can honestly say that I hated it. If you want something for a slightly younger lead character who looks just agitated, here's the new Gospel portrait:

Hmm, good point, Kage. And the bottom version is the more recent one. I also did a bad cropping job here. As far as I know, no portraits took up the whole frame. Lemme get back to the drawing board on this.

I agree. I can't get the style right on this portrait though--I feel like it looks distinctly different from everything FFT's style.

Oh and I didn't answer your question earlier, Kage. Things are going well. I'm still on FFH daily, I'm just not finding as many threads to post in.

First start on a portrait for the Devil sprite, based on your palette. Anyone is welcome to pick it up and fix it some more.

The images on this site can be used to make a decent amount of portraits for some of the sprites posted earlier: http://www.thedisgaeafan.net/PK/mmclass

I'll try making a portrait here in a bit.

Your stuff has a lot of potential. The palettes need some slight tweaks though, then they'll be perfect. Also, we need some legit portrait artists to get in on these things.
