Common interests, common hobby, common music? Share what music you listen to, and give and get ideas about what music you might want to try.

I like anything and would be willing to listen to any suggestions, some of my favorite bands are:

Blind Guardian
Project 86
Demon Hunter
Chevelle
As I Lay Dying
Flogging Molly
Papa Roach
Dead Poetic
Rage Against the Machine
10 Years
Royal Bliss

there are 100+ bands that I would listen to on a regular basis of I had the money to buy all their CDs, and another 100 or more that I would buy the CDs of only if I had the CDs of the first 100, and another 100 or more that I only like a few songs by and would never buy an album by them unless I started to like more of thier stuff.

I can appreciate any music that I listen to, except for a few songs and bands that I really don't like

I would really like to find some good viking metal though, haven't heard much
<JoZ> I'm not Wiz. Even if I were, I wouldn't be narcissistic enough to go under an alt and comment on my own team.

Look, if you people are gonna recommend some artists recommend some albums or songs, I don't like shooting into the dark.

My desert albums, so this is what I recommend to anyone who's looking for new tunes to listen to:

Blues Traveler - Four -- contains their hits Hook and Run Around, but all in all BT is quite jam-band-ish, with John Popper doing killer harmonica and singing just awesome.)  Favorite tracks are Stand and Look Around.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoA5OtWQ5O0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6jC_kGrd9s

Lucky Boys Confusion - Throwing the Game -- Second album and major label debut of the Illinois pop-punk-rock group.  Fred Astaire is probably the best "single/radio-friendly" off the album, though I prefer the gems that are Not About Debra and Slip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw7W5zHV ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXerNxp4pJA

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind -- Half of this album made it to radio play, it was their big breakthrough featuring Semi-charmed life, though the B-side songs like Motorcycle Drive By and London kickass.  Alt-pop-rock.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh5_Wdd80lE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXRLEyIoJZA

Infected Mushroom - I'm the Supervisor -- though most of their albums are good, this is the one that takes the cake for me.  Psychdelic trance/electronic music.  It's like techno, but far more active and less beat monotony.  Most popular song off it is probably Cities of the Future.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8HjaKSbR-k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0Cbfm1PStA

Dispatch - Silent Steeples -- Rock jam band that dips into reggae, funk, folk, and a bit of Ska.  Bang Bang (featuring The General, their most popular song) is probably the more recognized album, but Steeples is more an album and less a collection of songs.  Favorites off that include the title track, Elias, and Flying Horses.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re9j9awAJH4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljVR3Bodxmw

Guster - Lost and Gone Forever -- Goes very hand and hand with Dispatch as far as music stylings go.  Popular tracks include Barrel of a Gun, Happier, and Fa Fa.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7vuBlyXLJg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrYxTOzH3YU

Cory Morrow - The Man That I Have Been -- Texas.  Country.  Now before half of you cringe at the genre label, this is still quite rock-driven music, and as a genre they basically spit on the Nashville scene (he in fact has one track called "Nashville sucks").  Favorite tracks include Texas Time Travelling Machine and the title track.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qsFxE7Zv6M

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours - Classic pop-rock, featuring hits like Gold Dust Woman and Go Your Own Way, but my favorite songs off the album are Never Going Back Again and The Chain.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgC6yJKo ... re=related

Led Zeppelin - Zoso (IV) - Anyone who's listened to any amount of classic rock knows Stairway to Heaven and Black Dog.  Just wonderful, solid, rock music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9TGj2jrJk8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4oUJUCDX1s

Beatles - Revolver -- Because this was the stark transition album from more poppy Beatles to "hey we just dropped acid and smoked pot", though Rubber Soul was the first sign of such a transition and then it exploded all over the wall after Revolver with Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band.  Featured automatic double-tracking overlay, which was a recording breakthrough.   Notably contains Eleanor Rigby.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxyJLxV0_-8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8X4eoNfm5E

Peter Gabriel - So -- Again, another album that had half of its song on the radio, featuring hits like In Your Eyes and Sledgehammer, though my fave B-sides are Mercy Street and Don't Give Up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gu-OQcZXU8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiCRZLr9oRw

Say Anything - Is a Real Boy.  Their best album; fabulous frontman.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfptieWXEJA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwjfRSUme3U

Token Honorable Mentions include some strong female vocals:

Alison Krauss + Union Station - So Long So Wrong
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmXCMo-IOdQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoQY-YUTsrw

Frou Frou/Imogen Heap - (any of it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Bd6ayD ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKZsZkH_ ... re=related

Skunk Anansie - Stoosh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AWEVv0Q27w
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm3z3i_x ... re=related

Dido - No Angel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEexvtfUHkY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO_nNnfvxsE

and ska:

Five Iron Frenzy - Quantity is Job No. 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1g38nMr9qc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv4HV2DC2WY

Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBX2VLhjiUo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOFkcj4iDvM

Planet Smashers - Unstoppable
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKpKZuxY ... PL&index=5

and then finally:

Cartel - Chroma -- pop rock to the extreme!   \m/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7SkmEqg ... re=channel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR1Eqpv7fao

Postal Service - Give Up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMOkfI7wCrI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcqQDM-q ... re=related

Bad Religion - Process of Belief -- my favorite album by them, but their best songs are elsewhere sadly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPR8tW1nv4Q
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk4VEzZtFFQ

Edit:  Is it bad that I have a thing for the lead singer of Skunk Anansie?  :3

Ok... people here have a giant musical taste

but since i'm a old classic rock elitist boring man, i don't listen to about 99% of what have been posted here

my favorite bands are (in no specific order)

- King Crimson
Probably the greatest band EVAH! With very distinctive phases of sound experimentation, since the very moody and epic first album, the proto-thrash-metal of their 70s work and even the more popish and jazzy 80s. Songs i recommend: Larks Tongues in Aspic Part II, Fracture, 21st Century Schizoid Man and Starless

- Gentle Giant
The first and so far real bards of rock (Blind Guardian is just OK, but is far too overproduced to call my attention), Gentle Giant was the best live band of the 70s and still is one of the most technical groups around. Songs i recommend: In a Glass House, On Reflection and Knots

- Yes
I love Yes so much that i have a series of tattoos of the band, it's all awesome, all technical, all feeling, all cosmic and all lysergic. By far the greatest band to hear when you're high on LSD, Yes still is my personal favorite band of all time, and to someone as cocky as i am when it comes to music, that is saying a lot. Songs i recommend: Close to the Edge, Heart of the Sunrise, Awaken and Starship Trooper

- Bacamarte
A little of fan-service, Bacamarte is a brazilian band of the early 80s that released the greatest album of the genre (progressive rock) when the genre was already VERY dead. The lyrics are in portuguese, but it's so scarce that anyone can enjoy, even so, the lyrics are very D&Dish to make any sense. Songs i recommend: UFO, Smog Alado and Depois do Fim
*** END OF MESSAGE ***

BP, you can't imply that you're the only one who 'knows how to rock' and then not give mention to its founding fathers Black Sabbath and its pioneers Judas Priest.
