The Lounge / Tactics Alexander

I'm surprised that nobody had commented this in the forum.
Square Enix has their own sense of humor, and for April Fool's day the company released a trailer for a non-existent tactical role-playing game called Tactics Alexander. It's gorgeous, it has a delightful pixel art, music, promising plot and also feel like a stab in your heart when you realize that it's not real.
It makes me wonder, what is the purpose of this trailer?  Is it just publicity of FFXIV aimed for retro SRPG gamers or do they wonder about the people interest in SRPGs and they want to see how people react at the trailer?

What do you think about them?

The most of them sound pretty different from the original, but it not means that they are worse, just different.
I specially like how Battle on the Bridge sounds, but I highly dislike Ultema The Nice Body.

Spriting / Male Warlock / Scholar Sprite

Seushiro made a thin sprite of Rudvich and he posted it here: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=3539.580

The Seushiro sprite has an arm movement problem. I fixed it.
I think that the body of the sprite has a lot of potential working as a wizard, so I tried to design the head and this is my result.
I'm not a spriter and I think that the back view of the hair could be improved. Now the sprite also needs a portrait!

FFTA/FFTA2 Hacking / FFTA Hack Request

I really would like that FFTA have directional damage, like in FFTA2.
rrs_kai request the hack in this topic: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=10776.0 but nobody do a hack.

I think for my experience that directional damage gives much more strategy to the game.

I will start a new FFTA hack, if someone do this hack. ;)

I want to raise the stat cap limit from 249 to 999 in FTTA2. (I want it for some monster like Jelly can surpass 249 in defense in my FFTA2 Redesigned)
Any way to do this?

Since there aren't much good Final Fantasy Tactics A2 rom hacks yet, I tried to create a good one.
After a lot of work I can say that this patch is playable. The main goal of Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Redesigned is to make the game more difficult than before, and remplace useless and game-breaking things. I have also given completely new skillsets to some jobs, like Tinker, Assassin (now renamed Shadow) or Seer (now renamed Sorcerer).



Main Changes

- All enemy levels scale with the party. (If the level of your party is greater than the predefined level of the enemy unit)
- Level Cap is now at 50. (Because the damage formula, some things like spells become very weak at high levels)
- Every ability and item have been revised.
- I added a lot of new abilities that replaces the old useless or game-breaking skills.
- Items have more secundary effects.
- All growths and stats have been rebalanced. Now every job is usable.
- Monsters and Bosses now they are much more stronger than before.
- The most of the races now they have one special ability, that only one in your team can use it. (if you choose human special skill, you cannot use viera special skill.)
- Enemies can't revive their allies so revive skills have been removed. Adelle's Elpe can revive one Ally with the cost of her life.
- OHKO skills, and Petrify skills have been removed for player use.
- Some game-breaking support / reaction abilities have been removed for player use. (Dual Wield, Strike Back, Blood Price...)

Soldier, Arts of War

First Aid: Recovers some HP (more than before) and remove some debuffs.
Rupture: Lowers Attack and Magick, 5 range.
Frostwave: Ice damage in a line.
Rend MP: Depletes target's MP, 5 range.
Rend Speed: Inflicts Slow, 5 range.
Sharpen Sword: Deals normal damage and raise user's Attack and Critical Hit rate.
Provoke: Inflicts Berserk, 2 range.
Iron Shield: Raises user's Defense, and grants Protect.


Thief, Thievery

Steal MP: Steals the target's MP.
Mug: Deals normal damage and steals the target's gil.
Steal Gist: Confuses target.
Steal Speed: Inflicts Slow to the target and grants Haste to self.
Steal Loot: Steals Lv.4 Loot.
Steal Accessory: Steals the target's Accessory.
Steal Armor: Steals the target's Armor, Shield or Headgear.

Eater Dragon: Summons a dragon and steals a lot of HP from the target, 3 range, 10 MP.
Oblivion: Inflicts Addle, 4 MP.

Stored Power: Restores user's HP and raise defense and resistance until the next turn.
Guard: Protects user's from all damage until the next turn. Status will hit at 100%. 20 MP.
Cover: Covers and ally an raises user's defense and resistance until the next turn.
Force: Raises resilience in a small area. 4 range, 4 MP.
Saint Cross: Holy damage to surrounding units.
Holy Blade: Deals holy double damage. 34 MP cost.
Santificy: Removes a KO'd Undead or weakened Undead. 3 range, 10 MP.
War Cry: Raises user's Attack and Defense.


Fighter, Pugilism
Rush: Deals normal damage and knockbacks target.
Wild Swing: Damage to surrounding units.

Vitals Shot: Inflicts random debbuf.
Hunting: Damages monsters lowering their resilience and immbolizing them the next turn.
Sneak Monster: Deals big damage to monsters if you target them from the back, 16 MP cost.
Sidewinder: Double damage to monsters. 26 MP cost.
Shiny Arrow: (Special Ability, only Humans) Deals normal damage, lowers target's attack, removes target's buffs, and delays target's turn. (this last effect doesn't work on bosses) 10 MP. Requires: Moon Maiden, now you can obtain one from Adelle.

Power Crush: Deals normal damage and lowers Attack and Defense.

En Garde: Grants Shield and Counter.

Silence Gas: Sets a Silence trap.

Love Potion: Sets a Charm trap.
Life Bond: Use HP to heal unit.
Mirror Items: Reverses the effect of Items.(mirror phoenix down, mirror needle... has been removed)
Camouflage: Turns unit Invisible.
Awareness: Reveals hidden traps and invisible enemies.


Lanista, Astutia

Soul Enhancer: (Special Ability) Restores Hp in a small area and grants Shell and Protect, 10 MP. Requires: Moon Maiden, now you can obtain one from Adelle.
Sword of Darkness: Deals Dark damage and drains victim's HP to user
Sword of Light: Deals Holy damage and drains victim's MP to user.
Haunting Vision: Deals damage and inflicts Blind on target, 8 MP, 3 range.
Block!: Increases defense of units in a small area.
Strike!: Increases critical hit rate of units in a small area.
Charge!: Damages and knocks back target, with chance of destroying the target's armor
Razzle-dazzle. Absorbs HP of surrounding units, 10 MP.


Viking, Brutality

Thunder: Thunder damage, 5 range. 8 MP
Thundara: Thunder damage in a small area, 4 range. 14 MP
Thundaga: Heavy Thunder damage, 5 range. 16 MP
Tsunami: HP and MP damage in a large area, 5 range, 14 MP.
Steal Force: Deals normal damage, and raises user's Attack and lowers target's Attack.
Zeus Shock: Heavy thunder damage, 34 MP.
Pillage: Damage and steals headgear, shields or armor.

Works in Progress / FFT (Anti-Breaking) Beta

Well, this patch hasn't got any news and is really simple, I only edited the things that make FFT unbalancing in lategame (now isnt a game children here and the game is not based on OHKO or rare 2HKO in Chapter 4) and I edit obvious things, and I fix all bugs. This patch maybe is the game that Square must have to sell, and is for anyone who want replay original FFT and he can enjoy the original game since the game start and when it finish (or also the base for new patch). This patch would be work fine with FFT Complete.

Main Changes:

- Max Level Up is 50

Why?

- Speed grow with Status CT and ability CT gain completaly descontrol is las 50 levels.
- Gear, and levels magics are completaly unbalanced with the formulas based (PA+Y)*PA in last 50 levels
- Some growts like mosters HP overflow in last 50 levels.


Other Changes and Bugfixs:

Speed Save = CT + 20
MA Save = +1 MA, -1 PA; if PA = 1, fail
A Save = +1 PA, -1 MA; if MA = 1, fail
Blade Grasp fails if range > 2 and reduces accuracy by (Br * 2/3)%
No Item Duplication (v1)
Damage Split returns 33% of damage
Formula 07 only multiplies by Zodiac Compat once [vanilla multiplied it twice]

Summary of class, abilities, items and skillsets Changes:

- Lucavi has the WotL HP, are inmune to dark for prevent things like Demi.
- Altima is much more strong, with much more HP and CT is reduced from her abilities. (and Immune to Don't Act)

- The Templars in the chapter 4 are more strong.
- Orlandu has normal stats and competaly nwe skillset: Power Ruin, Mind Ruin, Speed Ruin, Lightning Stab and Icewolf Bite.
- Swordskills are much more less power, evadeable, and countergrash, and now cost some MP. Lighting Stab is only available for Orlandu, and is a ''normal'' sworskill (less power)
- Beolwuf skills has range 3 and less precision.

- Summon Magic has less CT(only with last summons) and less power in general. (A bit less than WotL)
- Meteor CT is less and power is much less and Holy and Flare has a bit less power too (A bit less than WotL)
- Draw Out power start with 8 (Ashura) and finish with 17(Chirildrajen) Masamune and Kiyomori are ramdom inflict and all Draw Out hit allies and enemies.
- Cloud has normal stats and his skillset is much less power (Braver has 8 and Cherry Blossom has 22)

- Calculator, Bard, Dancer and Mime has normal stats.
- The spell that can be calculated is very small, and 4 and CT is removed from his skillset.

- Almost of items that have permanet status now are innate.
- Power of last weapons are always +1. For example: Rune Blade has 14WP, Defender has 14, Save of the Queen has 15, Excalibur 15WP, Ragnarok 16WP and Chaos Blade has 17WP.

I said time ago I will do a guide and here is the guide.

To start...

Well in this guide I will tell you how this works. Many people are unaware of the serious problem involves creating magic without different levels. The typical example is to replace Calculator by Sage and put spells with the same level.


Understanding the problem

- To begin we have to see how the weapon damage:
There are two variables, PA and WP These two values ​​increase when increase your level (gain PA) and history proresion (gain WP) Therefore, the damage is much greater each time.
- Magical Damage:
What's happen? For a simple spell there are only one variable: MA. The Y value doesn't change, therefore the damage is much less variable than the weapon damage. Here a calculations:

Physical damage using PA: 5 and WP: 4   Formula Dmg_(WP*PA) = 20 damage
Magical Damage with MA: 5 , Y: 10, 65 Faith the caster and the target Formula Dmg F_(MA*Y) = 21 Damage

This is balanced, but that occurs later in the game...

Physical damage using PA: 20 and WP: 15   Formula Dmg_(WP*PA) = 300 damage
Magical Damage with MA: 20 , Y: 10, 65 Faith the caster and the target Formula Dmg F_(MA*Y) = 84 Damage

Well you can see the big difference. (The Gear raise HP in progressive way at the same time that the weapons, but what happens with the magic?,  For fix this Square use different magics levels with progresive Y values. You see Black Magic, White Magic, Draw Out  and Summon.

But this system has 2 problems:

- If you save JP to learn an advanded level spell, you'll cause a very big damage early in game.
- ''I want to create for example, a Sage job with only 2  magic spells (Aero and Quake) or remplace the diffrents magic levels of Black Mage to different elemental magics.''

Fix the problem


See this formula: (MA+Y)/2*MA

In this exist 2 variables. For the for the previous example:

MA=6   6/2*6= 18 Damage
MA=24   24/2*24 288 Damage

Here is the solution!
(You can use  (PA+Y)/2*PA and (PA+Y)/2*MA too if you don't want Weapon damages)

But, there is a problem... you obtain your best gear in level 40-50.  So ''WP variable'' in Weapon Damage ends at this level   however the variable of this formula ends at level 100. How I can fix this?

- Create gear from level 1 to 99. For do this I have an idea. An ASM hack that makes this:
Shop Availabity is based on your your the maximium unit level in the party and the level for unlock each item is the value put in ''Enemy level'' in FFPatcher. The hack is at the end of the topic.

Media Growth and multiplier:
HPG:10
HPM: 140
PAG: 45 (For Physical Clases)
PAM: 130 (For Physical Classes)
MAG: 45 (For Magical Classes)
MAM: 135 (For Magical Classes)

Using the formula (MA*1)/1*MA, this gear and stats and Pride Job defensive boost (Media reduced all damage by 33%) Always in all levels you need 5 hits to kill the unit.

With Archaemic slowdown is removed, So, what are the reasons to prefer PSX version? - None
Basically, I prefer the PSP version because it allows to use more than 9 sprites in battle. So why not work to convert all PSX hacks and tools in to the PSP version?

I want to change the music from the game. Maybe if I find in google converters that change SMD format in to anyone media player format. But the problem is that SMD format is image file, and how can i change this in a music file? I don't find in google the converters needed. Is possible to change the game music at the moment?
