i want to bump this thread. AI behavior is so crucial to any developers tool kit... Has there been any more progress on controlling how the AI behaves ? Or is there anyone working on a project like this whom I can help ? If so please point me in the right direction. If not, is there anyone else out there interested in how the AI works?

I am currently working on a little project with FFTPatcher to recreate the game with a few new mods, one of them being how all the characters are only allowed to move 1 or 2 squares at a time... might sound restrictive at first but it actually opens up the depth of the game in a few ways. It plays a little more like an interesting chess game rather than a bunch of shananigans running around all over the place:

1st, enemy and ally artificial intelligence (AI controlled) warriors cannot hit and then run 4 squeare away, leaving your back-line vulnerable. The battles make more sense, warriors in the front line, softies in the back.

There's a lot more that I'm adding and I won't go too far into detail about it now... I will post a ISO link sometime soon hopefully.... but also please keep me updated on anything involving the AI.

Thank you for the responses. So if I make the character immune to crystal and treasure then their body will never rot? So they become sort of 'immortal'?

Would this be different from selecting the 'immortal' box in the ENTD?

Hey this is a great question. I am trying to do the same thing, have enemies learn more of their secondary skillset. I think Jumza or someone told me that we can use a non-generic skillset as the their secondary skillset (in ENTD) and they will automatically learn all the skills from that secondary skillset...

Jumza, is there a way to have special character sprites like Ramza and Delita change to whatever job they are, instead of always using the same sprite? Or can you point me to a link which may describe how to do this for me? Thanks! :D

Are you using the FFTorgASM: Skillset X innate all ?? That one was causing a crash for me.

Ya I know what you mean, I put the Jump skillset in the Theif's pull-down job skillset, I didn't switch all the steal and jump abilities.

Ok it was working temporarily then I changed something and now its not working again :( and I changed all the setting back the way they were and now Jump is greyed out again wtf

About the sprites, when I change sprites they load correctly in game but not at the Formation Job selection menu when you're changing jobs? Fix for this?

In the Shishi what does Import BMP stand for?

ok so I tried putting Jump into the Theif job skillset but when the player's action menu appears the Jump action is greyed out!

Thats ok I don't mind... because they are taking up a whole slot by themselves. If Algus looks like a chemist and Delita looks like a chemist and the enemy has two chemist, I would be using up only one available sprite slot for 4 units, correct? Whereas now they use 3...

[edit] The jump skillset has problems adding other skills but not when you change it to another Job??

[edit] Also is it possible to overwrite special characters with generic sprites so that I can get more jobs/sprites on the field? For example, give characters like Algus and Delia generic sprites? The 9 sprite limit is blocking me from having more diverse jobs on the field...

Have you noticed in the Vanilla ENTD when Algus and Delita are guests, box #23 has the #48. Any idea how this effects their AI ?

Ok awesome this helped a bunch! Now we know how to edit the starting characters. Interesting how the new units coming into the game are edited with this ENTD window. Have you tried editing Ramza from here?? I made some changes to him but they're not working the same as the generics... for example I gave him 65 brave and faith and they come up correct at the first battle Orbonne Monastary but revert back to 70/70 at the second battle Magic City Gariland...?

[edit] Is there another window that works for Ramza? Been trying different ones out..

Hey all, looking to make everyone on the battle-field immortal. Any way to do this? I can make the enemies immortal but not my teammates... I used the ENTD screen in the FFTPatcher and selected 'immortal' for my teammates that join up after the 188 Military Acadamy screen but no luck, my teammates still turn to crystals. I'm doing this because I have made changes that make the battles much longer and more complex so the 3-turn death system is not choice. Thanks in advance!
