Wow, one shots all over the place.  It was basically who got the first one shot in.  Powerhouse teams.  That Squire is some scary shit.

Holy and Petrify strong.  That Samurai, without means of healing, was out of commission for too long.  After dying, and without means of healing, he's more or less dead weight, unfortunately.  Time Mage and Thief doing their support roles well.

I understand the purpose behind Iron Will, but Y U SO Derp it ain't!  Elemental on stranded dancers ... maybe a bad idea?  I mean, you want to force them to dance, right ...?

Derp did best what it was made to do.  But Chew was relentless.

lol @ retarded berserk chemist.  Raise 2 was the saving grace.

QuoteWell, welcome to the worst matchup possible?

Oh, I just wanted to address this.  I disagree.  You took round two.  And for the others matches, there was a lot of back and forth.  So even with all the magical defense, your team still did very well.  The only thing that turned the match was Charm.  But that can apply to ANY team.  So I don't think it was a bad matchup, at least, as bad as you would think.

Well, welcome to the worst matchup possible?

Sadly, my Oracles had the wrong spellset in the second set of games as well.  They were at least sporting Life Drain, which they should not have, and were using in place of higher DPS options in more than one occasion from the looks of it.

FFM Edit: I suggest not to put apostrophes into spoilers since it bugs them up for some reason. Fixed it for you =p

I'm not sure what's going on with the spreadsheet.  Am I seriously the only one who's having issues with the Oracle spells?  I can't figure it out.

That Oracle might need a reflect ring.  And those Geomancers transparency.  Raped that first round.  The RNG wasn't in my favor second round, but thus is the nature of FFT.  On paper, I see this teams as a little more even, but the flow of the match definitely favored Big Assault.

The AI likes to spread out the damage way too much.  If Diamonds and Guns had concentrated their damage, it would've been in their favor.  Granted, the breaks missing was just plain bad luck.

Not sure about Revive on those Squires.  When you're hitting that hard, essentially one shotting the competition, it's a wasted turn spent reviving, but that's just IMO.  They won regardless ^_^'  Priest with Masamune, awesome-sauce.

Entertaining match.  Shoes very reliant on those decap procs.

What matches do you guys want to see, or ones we haven't seen yet?  I can take a few requests per week or so.

FFT Arena 1.36 FFMaster (Thank you for the new Shoes) vs. RavenofRazgriz (Santa Orbital Cannons)

I apologize the commentary isn't very lively.  I had a couple videos recorded before this one (some other matches), but was having some audio problems, and when I got around to recording this one, I was feeling a little tired/weary.

But anyway, I only mean to post videos here and there, and help with the matches when time comes.

Yes, I've done that.  Just bringing it to attention.

Reflect Ring is giving me an error in the spreadsheet, but Heretic's Ring still works.  Anyone else getting this error?

That topic was useful.  I was picking out maps via memory, from the game.  But that can backfire, too, since in some maps, I have no idea where the units start (effectively making some "large" maps, small or moderate in comparison to their actual size).  I felt it was medium, medium, small, personally.  Finath River is an iffy one, because there are obstacles at the bluffs, as you saw, the Geonancers especially, had some difficulty navigating.  But, yes, I will utilize a better means for gauging maps, at least until I am intimately familiar with them all.

Test using dxtory.  I recorded commentary, but in epic fail manner, forgot to turn the mic on.

Yeah, that will be a problem with the excel sheet. Great...

EDIT: Can you send me a screenshot of the box in Excel and an ingame screenshot of Oracle skills?

EDIt2: Everything seems to be fine on my end.

Strange ... my Oracle never casts sleep.  And she casts Dispel, which is not in her spell repertoire.

EDIT:  Spreadsheet problem.  To select an Oracle spell, I have to select the spell two slots below the one I actually want.  =/  Also, inserting a Mime is giving me "length errors", whatever that means.

This is just an oddity I've noticed from testing teams, but I have my Oracle set up with Sleep, but during battle, she uses and has access to Dispel Magic.  Is that an error in the excel sheet?

Just tried the dxtory trial.  Works much, much better than camtasia.  There is still some slowdown when spell animations go off in epsxe, however.  It's a little annoying when you're used to the program going at wicked speeds, but it's not unbearable.  Computer specs,

AMD Athlon II P320 Dual-Core Processor 2.1 GHz
4 GB RAM
280 gig HD, of which there is 170 remaining

I am running epsxe 1.7 with Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.6
Everything is set to 0
640 x 480 res
Auto-detect FPS at 60 (well regardless, I switch FPS limiting off when running the emulator)
Screen Filtering is checked

Sound is Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41

Anything else ... ?

Arena 1.35b doriantoki (Vampire Hunters Extraordinare) vs FFMaster (Thank you for the new Shoes)

Testing it out.  Using 1.35b, modified Vampire Hunters (hasn't been updated in the team thread ... yet).  I can also add commentary, but I wanted to test this out first.  Is the quality "good enough"?  I do appreciate a good quality FFT Arena vid, and can understand if the group doesn't feel this is up to the standard.  This is as good as I could get camtasia to run on my system.

Special music selection just for FFMaster and New Shoes team ;)

FFT Arena / Re: How to Set up FFT Arena

Well it was a wasted cause.  epsxe (and even psx) just refuses to work.  Which is weird because they used to work perfectly on my home computer, but now ... just ... won't work anymore.  But thanks for going through all that trouble anyway.

EDIT:  Weird, the ISO was the problem!  Maybe it was corrupt?  (Comment Moderated - See Rule 1)

If anyone wants to give me a quick run-through (unless "quick" is impossible) on how to get videos running as they are set-up for the tournament, I would be willing to help.  Yes, I have a legitimate copy of the game, yes I have the ISO, and yes I have video capture software.  I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to using the patches (which ones I should be using and so on).  But I am willing to learn and set it up on my system.  Just throwing that out there.

It seems like a perfectly kosher strategy; emphasize defense.  To be honest, there aren't many shades of it in other teams.  It was definitely something I had in mind when creating certain teams though, such as the Reflect Mail clad Oracles in my Vampire Hunters team.  I wanted that to be a defense against most black magic and status magic attacks.  But as you can see, Summon raped a hole right through that.  Also, I wanted my Thieves to be similarly indestructible in my Blade Runner team.  And like Losers, I found that you tend to rely on status infliction in such a situation, as regular attacks just won't do enough damage.

Samurais went down pretty fast.  Critical hits ftw.  Auto-Potion, always a good anti-dance and anti-lore.

My first mime works really well in sync with that mime.  Well though out team.  Raise 2 saves the day second round (raise 2 certainly seems to be a tide turner in many matches).  Bad luck with RNG second round for Norm :o.

Ouch, pretty mismatched.  Summon goes right through those Reflect Mails, and that's obviously what raped my team to hell and back.

Dance dance revolution!

That wizard needs short charge.  The charm that second round, too, was pretty bad.  We need to stop using that black palette, IMO.

Hilarious match.  Losers definitely have survival power.  Paladin and chemist not particularly impressive damage ...

♫"I fought the law, and the, law won"♫, as well, "Lay this team to waste".  Awesome match.

That first map really worked in Heretics' favor.  But it's a better team over, just IMO.

Did youtube compress the hell out of this video or what happened o_O  Well anyway, fire 2 rape that first round.  Close quarters a little too claustrophobic for Heretics.  I see a berserked gun wielder backfire a lot, and it happened again here too, lol.  Those raise 2 bots put right to work!  My first guess that third round, it's Viper's to take, again, based on ninja moving into place to get the first attack, and the flat ground, perfect for fire 2 rape.  Annnnd I was right lol ... fire 2 was the star here, wow.

Without access to that second mediator that first round, no way hose.  Second round, nice call on the blackmail on that charmed chemist.  AI acted pretty smart this round (mad science on a dead unit).  Except for using murasame, and then moving forward, that was dumb.  Large map, more room for mediators to muck around.  Sleep landing ending the never-ending cycle of raise-killing.  Third round, ninja taking out oracle, end of raise-killing, again, woot!  Good matches.

Interesting match.  Those petrifies and ninjas on Wiz's team are very strong.  Three time mages ... I'm not 100% convinced on that, but that's just me.

Interesting match.  First round, lots of back and forth attributed to map size, charm, healing and raising.  Consistent damage with no ZOMG heavy hitters.  The lancer would have probably turned the tide, which means it's more in Vengeance's favor.  And that was confirmed second match, with lancer being available, and smaller map size.  Another big map third round, and again, lots of back and forth (maybe just a coincidence ...).  Lancer rape in Status' favor, again.

Mine isn't a particularly strong team (well, it can deal damage, but sucks everywhere else, and the damage is concentrated).  Doesn't have any reliable AOE or ressurection.  May retire it.  Just wanted to see how a team based on pure ninjitsu would perform.  Have my answer, lol.

Better sandbagging on VooDoo first match.  RNG was just mean to Hobbes second match :(  Haven't you been praying to the RNG gods Dol?

Summon arpe at first.  Wow, staying power on Holy heretics.  But good choice on the reraised mages with raise 2.  Unfortunate that fairy missed twice, that's where the momentum started to shift towards heretic's favor.  Second match more in the manner I expected from Chew, in close quarters (ie:  Summon arpe!) with flat floor.  Third match, I agree, the mime got into position too soon.  Those reraises on the time mage and oracle, again, a life saver, pun intended.
