Nope, no super computer required. A normal computer should be fine (ran fine on Windows 98 =P). Google ePSXe, download version 1.6 under 'Old Peripherals' in the Downloads section, then download the stuff needed to setup ePSXe (google for that, too).

I'll let you adjust the growths/multipliers to fit the low damage style of COP, but if it wasn't a low damage patch, something like:

Innate: Defense UP, Magic Defense UP, Move MP-UP
Always: Regen

I think different battles warrant different rewards. Extra incentive to play twice! It's your call though. The prizes would have to be balanced, otherwise one of the battles would never get played =P

Chapter 4
Area - Gariland Magic City
Activation Method - Enter Gariland Magic City
Ramza and co. reminisce about the first time they met each other at the military academy. Ramza decides to visit the military academy to see Master Daravon, only to find that he is very ill. He begs you to find a rare herb that can be used as medicine for his illness. He says that the herb may be found in either the Araguay Woods or the Yuguo Woods.

Araguay Woods - You enter the woods and see a group of Reliquians and/or Gamblers searching for the herb. They find it and talk about selling it for a lot of money. Ramza (alone, unless the group also wants to help Ramza save Daravon) explains why he needs the herb and offers to buy it from them, but the Reliquians want to fight for it (after, it's 4v1 / 8v3).

All enemies are Reliquians/Gamblers. If Ramza alone, 4 Reliquians/Gamblers, if it's the whole gang, 8 Reliquians/Gamblers. Make one enemy the 'leader' - give him rare equips (all rare equips?), maintenance, Party Level +15, mastered base class (ex. leader is Reliquian, he has Reliquian mastered). The other enemies are Party Level +5 or same as Party Level and are normal Reliquians/Gamblers.

You get the herb and some other war trophies/loot as you deem appropriate for defeating the Reliquian/Gambler squad.

Yuguo Woods (actually, where would be a place that can act as a monster's den/lair kind of place? Nelveska? Not sure if Yuguo Woods would be best here) - Ramza and co. enter Yuguo Woods and search for the herb. They find the herb (near the middle of the map, preferably), but a lot of monsters show up and surround the troupe. Turns out they've stepped on a monster's territory. (Oh wait, there aren't many monsters in Mercs. Maybe a surviving family, I guess?) They have to fight their way out.

Ramza and co. start off near the middle of the map, surrounded by either 3-4 really strong monsters (Party Level +20ish, maybe ??? stats?), or 6-9 not as strong monsters (Party Level +0-10). If this is a monster family, have 1 or 2 monsters be the 'leader,' give them ??? stats + maybe an extra skill or something.

You get the herb and some loot, Gaff remembers hearing of a wanted group of monsters, talks about confirming if it's the same group that they just defeated.

Catastrophe doesn't sound very fiery to me. Inferno, maybe? Solar Flare? Banefire?

Instead of Thunderstorm, how about... Rolling Thunder? Just tossing out some ideas. I like Absolute 0 for Blizzaja though (and this patch, it's looking good).

Ooo, cool idea. I should actually try and contribute something to the patch instead of just playing with it.

Some ideas for now:
Quick Draw - Normal damage, chance of confuse, reduced accuracy (~70-80%?) (You're making a shot so fast that it shocks ('confuses') people, but since it's so fast the shot isn't as accurate as if you had the time to properly aim)

Point Blank - 100% accuracy, ~1.5x damage, can only be used one panel away from target (is this possible?)

Hmm, the above are more abilities rather than ideas for bullets...

How about...
Gravity/Ghost Bullet - 'fires' a Demi (shaves off a certain % of HP, if Demi isn't in mercs) (Yes, not very original)

Poison Darts - Low WP, but high chance of poison (maybe include don't move/don't act? If all three chance of status goes down, if just poison then chance for poison 50+%?)

In case you missed it, Reaction abilities don't stick.
S Cry does nothing except waste MP.

Never mind, I was using the wrong patch...

Everything's feeling much better now. No random hiragana, melee attacks do better damage compared to before.

Well, it says Night Killer, but it adds Protect and Shell. I haven't read up much on the new abilities and equipment, so not sure if that's the Traitor's Bow.

Oh, if someone is Berserk and you check their status, it says "Bonsonk." XD

Random hiragana are floating around, Cantor has Time Magic primary. I'm using the patch on the first post of the Easter Sunday Surprise topic. And I am patching on a clean ISO.

In the opening scene, Ramza sometimes has a staff in his hand when he 'attacks' the voices.

Gafgarion can attack from two panels away with a Mythril Sword.

Weapons do much less damage than skills.

HOLY CRAP Gafgarion attacked with Earth Splitter, Titan triggered and did ~230.

Hmm, in the 3rd battle
goblins are strong. Maybe I'm not used to it yet, but the goblins are doing ~15ish a hit.

And reaction abilities don't stick (I set Counter to some guys, in the battle it's back to Weapon Guard).

So, on the formation screen, there's a treasure chest called Loot. IIRC 10 Brave/0 Faith 8 HP/0 other stats. Also, if you save and load up, Gospel loses all his abilities. And in the 2nd battle,
the sorcerer walks around staffing people.
