PSX FFT Hacking / L i t t l e m o n e y Fix
April 07, 2010, 06:27:08 am
Not sure if this has been done already by someone, but I've whipped up a patch that fixes the 'little money' text slowdown at Gariland. Enjoy!

Dragoons are cool, but they don't really have anything special going for them like Breakers do, in terms of skills.

Not sure if it's too late, but Breakers are supposed to be uber late-game, especially on Yiazmat. So I'm voting Breaker.

Help! / Patching Error w/Onion Knight Sprite
March 18, 2010, 03:19:03 am
OK, so in working on my patch, I've come across a very strange issue. I've inserted the Onion Knight sprite into the ISO just fine, and it works fine in-game. Problem is, when I generate the patch with PPF Studio, the change doesn't carry over.

On my master ISO, it works fine. On my patched version, it works fine.

On my tester's version? It doesn't work. Squires have their normal sprites.

Since I noticed others had that issue too, I have to wonder what the issue is, and why the patch is working fine on my ISO, but not other peoples' ISO's. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT: Attached are screenshots of what it's supposed to look like.

In terms of references to other FF games, and not necessarily VII:

The Airship Lindblum refers to the city Lindblum in FFIX.
The Airship Palamecia refers to Emperor Mateus' stronghold in FFII.
Nautilus is referred to as the 'city of dreams', much as the city of Cornelia was in FF1.
The Sunleth Waterscape's weather changing reeks of Giza Plains in XII, also.

There were a few others but I can't remember them now. I'll post them as I remember them.

Quote from: "Zodiac"Nah more like lazslow made a REALLY bad joke against TheAncient, in the News section. TheAncient complained, saying he had enough of that BS. The others were of course on lazslow's side because they were all part of their fan sect so they all started flaming him saying he was a retard and that he was "obviously overreacting", while of course, he was not. So TheAncient ragequit.

If you want to join a join where everyone is part of the moar intelligent of comunitiez, where no one's opinion's differs, that's your place.

It's not like lazslow wanted to make public excuses even when he knew he was wrong, so he just went with the flow. A CoN mod making an excuse because they're right? Talk about nonsense!

The internet is serious business.

Hacking/Patching Tools / Re: TacText Issue
March 12, 2010, 02:07:03 am
Wow... you're a lifesaver! Not only did that seem to fix that issue, but that seemed to fix the other issue I was having with TacText being unable to patch ISO's patched by the Patcher! Thanks a ton!

EDIT: Although that issue is fixed, there is still one minor error that's... interesting. In battle and the formation screen, any job with the 'on' syllable (which is a lot more than you would think) is replaced with 'in'. Oniin Knight, Mink, Summiner, Automatin, etc. I brought this up to Zodiac before, but I don't know if anyone else knows anything about it.

EDIT 2: Said error seems to be gone, but more testing needs to be done. Either way, it's a strange error...

Hacking/Patching Tools / TacText Issue
March 12, 2010, 01:26:37 am
Hey all. I edited a bunch of spell quotes and added a bunch of new ones for my patch, but when I go to patch the ISO, it gives me the error in the screenshot below. I went back and shortened them so that their width is below 130, but the error still occurs. I've tried it on a new ISO and everything, and the error persists. Any idea what's causing this and how it can be fixed? Thanks.
3312
I changed them to 2k, which should be more manageable. It seems to work out a little better. I'm also considering making White Mage/Black Mage a base job, like what ASM does (from what I hear, at least). Nonetheless, I'm still toying with things.

The sad part is, I didn't even know there was a topic about this until just now. Shows how much I traverse Spam. =P

Song of Sorrow: Kind of boring, but I do like Bards and Samurai.
Singing in the Rain: Not sure how I would do it. =\
Beauty and the Beast: Heh, very creative. I love this. =D
Panelers: The premise is kind of boring, but it would make for a different battle.

Oh, you can be rest assured the 11 Monk Battle is staying, but being tweaked. How could I possibly remove such an epic battle?

All-Swordsmen appear in DD. And I'm considering using a Math Skiller somewhere as well.

It would be interesting to see elementally-based teams, simply to see if they're smart and support each other.

Human Monsters... eh. Kind of reminds me of what Mercs was going to do with monsters.

7x Jumping Priests... they'd all have to be named Rivaldi. =P

Colliery 3 combines both the Workers and the Wild Bow idea. So I daresay you'll enjoy that battle. ;)

PSX FFT Hacking / Re: Random Battles!

I really like ideas 1 and 3.

Regarding Idea #1, I've always thought a battle against Chocobo Knights would be epic, but I haven't really been able to figure out just how it could be done. It's kind of funny, since you see Chocobo Knights in the opening FMV, but they never appear elsewhere.

Regarding Idea #3, I think that's an amazing idea for DD. Revenant Wings' Midlight's Deep had a floor where you fought your party, and I thought it was awesome. Only problem is, I don't know how to find the player's party's unit IDs (I'm totally new to this, so if it's something incredibly obvious, feel free to let me know) but if I do find out how, this battle will definitely make an appearance in DD.

PSX FFT Hacking / Random Battles!
March 04, 2010, 01:38:29 am
I'm currently working on a gameplay patch with new jobs and such, and for the most part I'm done. The only thing that remains is creating a few new enemy-only jobs and the oh-so-dreaded Random Battle ENTD's.

Since I'm hoping to release this patch here to FFH, I would like to hear some of the community's ideas about what random battles you think would be interesting to run into. Random battles are a part of life, so they may as well be fun! Mind, I wouldn't insert new sprites and such for these random battles, but a lot can be done with what's already inside the game. So feel free to post your ideas here!

Also, if this is supposed to be in New Projects or something, I apologize, feel free to move it.

Thanks!
