Here is Arbalist Female I found, LD choose it.

And here is sprite that I'm working on.

Hey, not bad! The green is a bit bright for my tastes, but that's a seriously interesting concept. Maybe you should [also] post it in the job sprite ideas (http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3448) thread.

Make the green less saturated.
Also, change the boots to something thinner (same as pic).

Do you mind if I work on it a bit?

Post by: LastingDawn on August 17, 2009, 05:57:42 pm
That I do not mind, this is but a team support project not to mention the Gambler would only be half as good without the assistance of both of you in his (and her) crafting. The more people working on a certain sprite/portrait/specific area, means the better then result can only be.

you really need to learn about colour saturation. Your shading is also way too flat. Can you please post a version of the sprite blown up 2x?
Title:
Post by: Kagebunji on August 18, 2009, 11:11:37 am
Blown up 2x? You mean 2 times bigger? If yes, I will just edit this post later.

Looking good, I just can't see much of arms, they are like pixel flood to me :D Isn't she tall?
Title:
Post by: MiKeMiTchi on August 19, 2009, 03:38:40 am
She's tall becuase she's big.
No. She's just thin on 1x. :)

Edit: fixed some shading..
will post later.

^ Agreed. I'll fix the arms.

Btw, feathers look like a bunny ears a bit, maybe make em sharper in shape.

Sure thing.

Not bad mikemitchi. The upper torso isn't angled properly. It needs to be sloped down some more to reflect the viewing angle. Also, it might interfere with the collar but I think the arm closest to us should be raised by one pixel.

Took Asmo X's and Kagebunji's considerations..

mikemitchi I was thinking something more like this

My edit is on the left. I also included one of my sprites because I think it is a decent example of what I was talking about re the chest/waist area. I also pushed that arm up and added another pixel.

I will just give the work to you Mike, you are doing better than I, so the rest is up to you.

Wow, this looks great! Thanks for helping out with this MikeMitchi as well as Asmo, and thank you Kage for thinking up the base, without the concept art, it would be a completely different looking sprite.
Title:

@ Kage
Work on it, too, if you have time.
I still have to finish the Gambler at the moment. :)

@ Asmo,
I see.. Do you have spare time?
Can you work on it?
Title:

Fantastic concept guys, though it kinda looks like something is going on with her face on our left side. But nonetheless, this could easily shape up to be a very nice sprite.

Mike post full sheet of Female Arbalist you have, ok, and tell me wich parts/sprites you used. In the meabtime I did something with my Arbalist, I added small gem to hat, maked legs thinner and green shouldn't be now saturated.

MS Paint

But that sprite is looking sexy... and a little too busty
Title:
Post by: Asmo X on August 19, 2009, 01:19:02 pm
yeah would you just switch to ms paint already kagebunji?
Title:
Post by: Kagebunji on August 19, 2009, 01:27:20 pm
Um, there isn't such option in Paint?
Title:
Post by: philsov on August 19, 2009, 01:27:59 pm
stretch 200%; you may need to increase the canvas size.
Title:
Post by: Asmo X on August 19, 2009, 01:28:20 pm
yes there is

stretch skew 200% for both values

Here is something closer to the source image. It's probably not befitting the game really but what does everyone else think
Title:
Post by: Kagebunji on August 19, 2009, 01:34:21 pm
Now THAT's what I call busty ;) Her arms are kinda strange, I can't explain why hovewer.

EDIT: Could you show me image where this "strech" is? We have MS Paint in different languages, so I can't find it.

Took out the huge chest. It really wasn't that big. It looked like it was because i took a few pixels out of the waist.

You can select stretch/skew from the right-click menu when you use the select tool

taking a screenshot of paint and then modifying it in paint is kinda funky.

Is someone working on it? Or do I have to complete it??
Title:
Post by: MiKeMiTchi on August 23, 2009, 11:40:02 am
^ One thing I can tell, I'm not working on it.

Complete it Kagebunji!
Btw, I based the sprite from Balmafula. (just in case...)

I think LD should probably ok the design before anyone finishes it. Its been ages since i tackled a full sheet. Someone may have to remind me how to do it.

I used thias strecht/screw option in MS Paint, but I think it shouldn't look like this... any help?
Title:
Post by: MiKeMiTchi on August 23, 2009, 12:07:24 pm
Just keep the 1x version.
To view it 2x bigger, viewers should use Internet explorer, then zoom 2x.
That should be the fastest way, without wasting your time. (Firefox blurs the image at higher zoom levels)
Title:
Post by: goldblade0 on August 23, 2009, 12:08:56 pm
yes but not everyone uses IE7, or windows for that matter. Like me with Ubuntu
Title:
Post by: Kagebunji on August 23, 2009, 12:10:58 pm
I'm not using Firefox >.> Many people suggested MS paint strecht/screw option, but it didn't turn well.

Title:
Post by: Asmo X on August 23, 2009, 12:17:27 pm
MSpaint, choose the select tool (dotted line box), drag it so the whole image is selected, right click on the selection, stretch/skew, 200 in both fields.
Title:
Post by: MiKeMiTchi on August 23, 2009, 12:20:24 pm
Haha. If you don't like IE then try the legendary magnifier! :P

Blah.. just use MS paint.
You can resize it in less than 5 secs..

Looks a little bulky, Kage. Is she wearing gauntlets or something?
Title:
Post by: Asmo X on August 23, 2009, 01:16:21 pm
Its better than your old one. You're still rocking some black outlines around the neck which you need to take care of. Also, you have the opposite problem to mikemitchi. Your colour spread is too high. That light green is too light. I would like to suggest that you try not to make your own palettes right now. Like, if you want green, maybe borrow the palette from the Thief or something. Also, you completely forgot about your light source in the side-on view. You have the underside of the wrist guard as light green and youve forgotten to make a light area on the chest where the light would be coming down on it. Also, what are the 2 vertical bright green lines on the arm in the side-on view?

Mostly, what you need to do is not try to come up with your own palettes just yet. The way I practiced was by using other palettes and then making small adjustments to the outfit and trying to imagine where to use each colour in the palette on these new parts. On the plus side, the hat is pretty slammin. I think it just needs to sit on the head lower.

Yeah she got gaunlets Mav, Asmo thanks for criticism, I will begin workin now.

Well here are the changes:
- Armor is now less busty
- Lines on arms fixed
- fixed light-source on arms and armor
- Hat is now little lower
- Colors are now 100% from thief
- Black lines around neck deleted

Change the hat, Kagebunji. Looks very common. (Oracle)
I suggest you try copying the hat on my Arbalist sprite. :P

I prefer this one, personally, it looks much more elegant, refined, and above all, unique. Sorry for taking so long to officiate this design, but I feel this one is closer to the concept.
Title:

I have to say that the designs for this are looking fine, but the colors really need some work. The contrast is just way off.
Title:
Post by: Asmo X on August 23, 2009, 11:39:16 pm
Yeah I didn't even touch the palette. I was just waiting for a word on the design
Title:
Post by: Asmo X on August 23, 2009, 11:44:41 pm
Looks better Kage. Just lower the saturation on the hair, try some other shading on the boots and borrow a skin palette from another sprite. Also, your sprite never really looked busty, just bulky. Like, it's not totally apparent that it's female from the waist up.
