I worked on this a few months ago so my memory is a little hazy... I tried the skull shoulder pad thing in the past, but that kind of arm work is rough! (I spent a lot of time once trying to recreate the James Earl Jones's Thulsa Doom from Conan)  I believe I tried to base it off the images you put up and also the one below.  I didn't have space for gold colors on the sprite (also the partial chest reveal mixed with a beard looked awkward.)  So, yeah I went with a fusion that seemed best to me. Honestly I hate having clothes and cape the same (black on black) otherwise I would have gone with fuzzy white shoulders and black cape. 

hmm... I may put a little more work in on this guy to get him right, but I was pleased with how the sprite (not so much the character) came together.  Sometimes you find that you can't quite get the depiction of a character the way you want, but like the way it came out anyway.

No worries- I just don't/ post much when I don't feel like contributing much.  Granted, I do get upset with myself if I don't live up to my word.  Also I kind of have seasonal lapse on this site during football season.  I'm a big fan (I play fantasy football too) and only have so much hobby time.

looooong time no post... Ya, that's my Thor (and Magneto/Loki/Ironman)- I haven't done much more work with him except tinkering with a helmet for him.  I've spent some time getting fatigued with some different sprites- and honestly spriters just kind of burn themselves out at times(and come back when the sprite bug hits them  :D). Actually I spent some time on one for Elric that frustrated me a bunch.  Any way since you've had some nice things to show (dude that wolvie could be great, but he claws are a bitch) and say, I figured I would show you another one I'm close to finished on (needs a port)

This is where I'm sitting with a couple of sprites... Iron man needs some work on the port (the bane of my spriting existence!)....

The Iron Monger "tweeking" of the Iron giant seemed to suit the mech look pretty well.  The dead poses is a bit of a head scratcher...

No.  As I said they are all available as soon as you can enter the map from that particular direction.  They are not chapter specific. However, the "Special" battles are all opened in chapter 4. Ex: entd 069 Finath River East 5 or entd 05E Grog Hill South 5.

From each direction you enter a map there are 4 possible scenarios (plus chapter 4 special battles).  Also Some monster are randomly present and share the same x/y spot on the map this makes battles appear to be random.

Nice.  Many props Raven!  I especially like the Ramza mandatory Flag!

I have to ask- ...because.... I just don't know... I wanted to be able to load my already edited Attackout file for Xifanie's Editor into your special awesome(sauce).  Could I simply copy all of my  data straight out of my hex editor for the offsets x10938 to x13637 into my xml file?

...I feel kind of stupid having typed that ... but I am a cautious son of a bitch.

- I had the core flashing, but it was one too many flashing spots for my liking.  Dimming the core might be a good idea however.

I start a weak-ass Thor attempt.  I'm not sure on what to do with the arms.  I'm a little hesitant on the helmet.  I would avoid it, but it's too damn iconic.... I touched up the first set of arms so that the cape bolts stay visible and not covered by the cape.

I also started an "Iron Monger" sprite.    I really love the idea of a mech suit replacing worker 8 (who I just don't care for).  The original iron sprite only used 11 colors so a fair amount of screwing around is available.  I initially wanted Besrudio (I actually kind of want a sprite for him as well.  Pretty sure he could keep his cane.) to operate the mech, but I could only get the pallete down to 18 colors.  The current "old Delita" head should be easy to swap for something else.

I haven't made too many changes to the iron giant sprite yet, but I think a lot of potential is available(see below  :cool:).  I'll have to do some actual clean up by replacing the back head frames.  It's head on the back frames has horns that cover certain chunks of the arms and such.  Probably want to create a proper rocket pack on the back.

Getting fairly close with this one!  I certainly need to fix one head angle- the lowered head from the back.  Finish: dead/critical/water poses.  Also I probably need to touch up some arms- sometimes shadows appear where they shouldn't.  I tagged some heads and the front upraised arm pose (Jumping/spell casting) with some blinking eyes. :D

eehhh I may try to use the "Phantom" head on some sort of ultima demon fusion or something.....back burner again. 

I hope this thief zero is acceptable. 

...I'm really on some sort of super hero kick lately- here is proto-ironman.  I figure it would be easy enough to remove the head on the iron giant and add an add a head for a huge mechsuit like in the first one.  I believe the Iron giant only uses like 10 colors- so that may be a future quick fix!   ... also I keep thinking I'll make a Thor at some point- But I would at least want it to be fairly unique and not another magneto/loki type knock-off... you know actual work  :P

Any ideas for Ironman?  I figure I might change the singing poses into a chest cannon fire....

I'm looking for some input on my ongoing struggle to create "Phantom Beast".  This new body feature Ramza(1)'s legs, arms from jon's dark knight,(idk where that originally came from...), widened chest from dart, and a red belt. 

Work is still needed on the heads, and I know I have some arm work ahead of me.  I already pushed out the arms to match the widened chest for forward walking.  The arms on the top half of the sheet are easy to adjust, but I know those on the bottom are harder (This requires both widening of the shoulders while still matching the hands in the right spot to grasp weapons). 

Really, I just think this sprite is just ....bland. My colors are a grey to black spread, reds, and unused gold (I guess that could become something else...

?What do you guys think about the ninja belt? (It needs some touch-ups still)  Or should a red sash get thrown on there?  Neither would be very difficult..

I think I know what you mean- I had felt it was off, I already touched it up a little from an earlier post- Here is a closer look so you can see just what's off.
edit- urg... i last worked on this yesterday- and it looks like that shading doesn't transfer well with the angle... I assamue thats what you mean

yaaa! I "made" my own ports.  I'm having a brief uptick in my spriting desire/energy.  So here is Mustadio2 and "Loki".

Also I asked Cheetah if he minded if I tried to work out the Thief Zero sprite.  I thought I would try to replace the legs w/ ninja legs.  The original sprite had funky shirt flaps hanging down onto the upper legs.  This looked funny and also a pain to clean it up.  A red belt sash seemed to finish up the feel of this sprite so that would cleanly cover the ninja belt.  So what do you guys think?  Ninja legs okay?  I don't think I'll finish the sprite with the originals.
