Yesterday's episode was the best so far. Xifanie and I started watching it on a whim a little over a week ago (since DBZA is on hold forever), and we liked the series more than we expected to!

It may seem minor to you, but tools for story mods are so very welcome. Thank you for this.

The Lounge / Re: FFXIV: Return to Ivalice
September 04, 2017, 05:03:50 pm
It's a raid, so it won't feature those maps anyway. It'll be more about the bosses you fight along the way, as it's been with all the other throwback bosses (Gilgamesh, Ultros, and so forth).

I tend to categorically hate MMOs, but I loved XIV in both its incarnations. 1.x was barely an MMO, since it rewarded playing by yourself. ARR is missing some of what I liked about 1.x, but improved on so many other things (except the cutscene events, which are absolute trash compared to what they used to be) that I'm cool with just letting them improve the world and add more features.

I definitely would like to, it's mostly a matter of free time at this point. If I'm not at work, I'm sleeping, pretty much. Hopefully should change in the near future so I can be intimately reminded of what free time is. :v

The title is a bit of a twitch, but I'm far more bothered by 16:9 screenshots of a 4:3 game. Well, and that you've made previously unavoidable attacks avoidable - I'm the queen of missing 90+% hits 12 consecutive times until game over, so those are my only crutch. :p

That said, you've put a lot of effort into your presentation, and I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate someone working off the PlayStation version. Thanks for posting your work here!

Well, it's kinda been nearly a year without a word, but I'd love for Kokojo to definitively finish it. It's a thing I've been looking toward for quite some time, now.

Journey of the Five Ch.1 / Re: Chapter 2 Progress Log

Yes, we're still doing Chapter 2. And 3, and 4.

Unless we're notified otherwise (by absentee Arch), a mod based on 1.3 is still free to be shared here. It's not recommended, for a variety of reasons, but unless we're presented with a takedown request, you're free to post about it all you like here. I won't shoot it down unprovoked, and I'll ask that nobody else does, either.

In regards to WotL assets, it's been largely agreed upon by those with an artistic eye that they are not up to par with the original. Official they may be, they are looked down upon. But hey, they're official.

By all means, feel free to share your work here. The more it diverges from 1.3, the more relevant it becomes here, of course. Just be aware that in the (VERY) unlikely case that Arch decides to step in, we are obligated to comply with any requests.

If I remember correctly, the slowdown fix itself is either two or three byte swaps. I don't work with the PSP version at all, though.

You could try poking endrift at romhacking.net or on reddit, though.

Spriting / Re: Lion's Bizarre Spriting Adventure
July 30, 2017, 12:03:27 am
I've actually always found portraits to be much easier than sprites, but everybody has their strengths and weaknesses.

When it comes to white hair, remember that FFT portraits have a warm tone that's matched from the background color, so rather than flat white, it looks better to go with a strongly white tinted tan. It's not a thing most people notice, but it stands out to me, if nothing else.

I'd also go with a less sharp contrast; deepen the mid tones to bring out the texture and not come out quite so harsh on the shades. I know that can be kind of a tall order with a limited palette, but it's not impossible. Twin frequently blows my mind with what he does in 15 colors or less.

Put more diplomatically, it is very much true that the admins of FFH are on good terms with the admins of ID.

The thing is, we don't host 1.3. We aren't allowed to host 1.3. That being the case, 1.3 is just a subject to not be brought up. If you want to talk about 1.3, you know where to go, and it isn't here.

If you want to start a new mod with 1.3 as a base, that's entirely up to you. But do like Emmy and keep a topic going on multiple sites if you must. It's only very slightly tedious, but it satisfies everyone.

That was never officially implemented. Osmose just made a stylesheet for personal use.

Help! / Re: Ripping sound effect
July 15, 2017, 06:32:09 pm
So, you want the hideously distorted from slowdown PSP version? Just making sure, because that's like asking for an MP3 ripped from a CD that skips from being scratched across pavement.

Or, do you want the official fixed version, which is played too fast and also broken?

Or, do you want the proper slowdown fix version, which is actually identical to PSX?

No matter the case, the solution involves event editing, and either male to male mini aux to a computer, or recording directly from PPSSPP.

The Lion War / Re: FFT - The Lion War
June 13, 2017, 10:11:02 pm
Simple answer: It's on the backburner while work is done on Journey of the Five. It's not dead, it's just easier to tackle one project at a time, and the project being tackled is kinda really huge.

the Elric I used to know was a nice person, and you're not even polite :/

So not friendly!

If you think that gently being told that you're wrong is impolite, you have a long road of pain ahead of you. Asking obvious questions and getting obvious answers in a matter of fact way isn't rude. The fact that you implied as much only invites harsher responses.

I was single the last time you were here. Now Xifanie and I have been married for two and a half years. :v

But hey! Good to see old faces.

Non-FFT Modding / Re: Tangine

Really though, that's some awesome work done in just two days. If you said it took two weeks, I'd still say you were making great progress. Not only did you lay some great foundation, you already have some impressive, quality tangibility.

Dammit, Bonesy figured it out.

"Our Death Star has been completed, and it is the ultimate power in the universe!"
"Our rigorous testing has found no possible weaknesses. There would literally have to be another Death Star to fire at us for this thing to be compromised."

* rookie pilot of backwater origin using nothing sophisticated blows up the Death Star through obscure means *

"Well, shit."

The best bugtesters aren't professionals, but sillies doing unthought of things.
