Here's some more progress.
I've finished the top half of the sheet.  So, the walking, hit and KO frames and the corresponding water frames.
Next is the 5 attack frames, front and back as well as the duplicate water frames.
Once those are done, just a matter of flipping through the frames in Shishi to see how the arms align and if there are pixels that need to be tweaked from frame to frame.
EDIT: After a quick check... that last part might take a while.  Arms aren't lining up very well.  Oh well, after making my Ronin sprite and mistakenly editing an entire TYPE1 sheet and using TYPE2 arms, it's nothing I can't handle.

Here's a bit more.  Nothing too exciting, just a few more frames.

Here's a bit of progress on the female version.  Nothing too exciting, but I wanted to keep them similar in design and style.  I was debating doing more of a FFX-2 style, but that would mean skin tone, so more colours to factor in, plus it would look very different from the male.

Holy crap!  Almost 4 years since I last uploaded anything.
I've been busy in real life.  Moving to a new city, new job, have my PC in storage, all that jazz.
I've been slowly chipping away at my custom FFT mod, but haven't done much spriting.  I have been doing a bit of tinkering with FFVI (PC), so that's taking up a bit of my time, but I figured until there's better ways to mod that version I may as well re-focus on FFT.  Quickly finished the Male Wizard with the stripe around his hat.  Only took about an hour to finish, just never got around to it.  I hope there's no noticeable pixels out of place once it's in motion.  This laptop is old and doesn't let me test stuff in game easily.
Anyway, here's the edited variant:

Tutorials and Learning / Re: Ability Effect Chart

Just found this topic.  Thank you, Nyzer for doing the research and sharing your results with us.  I combined the charts into a single .png for easier reference for myself.  Thought I'd upload the image in case anyone else would rather it in this format.

The Lounge / Re: FFT remake?

If it doesn't turn out well, we don't have to buy it.  If it does, they can have my money and my gratitude.  Though, I'll keep my expectations low.

The Lounge / Re: TacticalRPG Engine

Wanted to pop in and say Great Work!
I've been thinking of building my own engine and have been going through tutorials learning how.  You're off to a great start.  How customizable is it going to be for others to use?  Will be able to make larger Sprites?  I guess keeping the square tile size is the standard, and if you want to make them seem smaller you could just make a larger map and zoom the camera out, but as for the sprites, will they be textures displaying on a plane (therefore customizable to whatever size texture is allowed) or is it a fixed image?
I hope my meaning isn't too confusing.  Just want to know how "pretty" a finished project can be.  I love FFT (even after 18+ years), but we need engines that can handle hi-res images and preferably 3D models.

Nice formula edits!
I like the idea of allowing the healing amount to scale better over the duration of the game.  I want my personal mod to have all classes relevant throughout the game and most of the equipment.
Definitely going to put these to use.  Thank you.   :D

@Mike
Your Sticky Fingers reaction ability is doable.  I think the Hamedo Fix and chosen ability hack by choto is exactly what you need.  Should be able to change the action to Steal Weapon (or your own custom ability) during Hamedo, instead of the default Attack.  http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=8507.0

I love Ritualists from Guild Wars!  That aside, your Blue Mage concept is pretty cool.  I was kind of thinking it would be cool having a Blue Mage more like Gau from FF6.  A Ritualist seems more like soothsayer that Communes and Channels with spirits and the remains of powerful Heroes, hence the attribute names.

PSX FFT Hacking / Re: Beginner questions regarding ENTD

Thanks for clarifying.  I was thinking that was the case, just wanted to know.  Any problem adding more palette colour schemes?  Like up to 8?

Edit:  I thought it was better to add to an existing topic, since the information is still relevant than to start another topic.  Makes less mess in the forums and keeps similar information together.

Old topic, I know, but my question directly relates to this.
If I wanted you use more palettes, does that increase the count towards the limit?
For example, multiple Squires on the map using (let's say 3) different palettes.  Does it count as a single sprite or as 3?
I know when tatoolo mentioned the example of the chocobos and goblins he used their job names.  If I were to have 3 chocobos, all tier 1 yellow chocobos, could I make them appear different with different palettes but use the same sprite file?
Essentially, when the game loads a .spr in a battle, does it load the palette information?

Great edits.  Terra edit is definitely my favourite.  Thanks for sharing ^.^

I checked out your videos on YouTube.  Are the effects for Terra's Riot Blade and Summon available?

It's funny.  The left frame the head was raised and I added pixels at the collar.  The right one I did the same, but dropped the eyes.  I will probably use a different base for the female.  Unlikely I'll keep it as is.  As for the hair, it would free up a few spots on the palette, but I do think it's worth keeping, unless I can make the body feminine enough without it.

Here's a few ideas I've got going.  First is some little edits to the male Wizard.  Added a seam down the back of his coat and put a thin strip on his hat.  I kinda felt there was too little detail in those areas and it needed a little something more.
Next I've got a first attempt at the female Wizard.  I only did the 2 frames and placed them side by side to more easily see the difference.  All I've done is open the coat a bit and changed the stripes to run vertically.  I moved the hat up by 1 pixel to make her a bit taller since the male sprite is taller.
I already prefer it to the original, but for the work involved for these changes I feel it's not different enough to warrant it.  Might do a bit more to it.  Maybe take some style elements from my new male version and try to imitate it.

That's a pretty good reference.  I've noticed on multiple drawings for black mages their stripes on their pants are vertical.  The sprite in Tactics has them going horizontal for the female ver.  I was thinking I'd keep the sprite close to how it already is, just open the cloak a bit to show a bit more of the body.  Probably change the stripes to vertical.  I'll post something soon.
I might add a strap around the hat on the male and possibly a seam or some detail to the back of the cape.

Love the hair colour.  Are you planning to make it look like Teiris?  It would be sweet to get some Dragon Force characters made.  Junon is my fave ^.^

IT'S DONE!
Male Wizard sprite is complete.  May be the odd frame that doesn't have the best shading or something a amiss, but they'd be almost unnoticeable.
If there is anything that needs fixing let me know and I can fix it, or if you do, just upload it.
Enjoy.
Now... onto the female version.  I was gonna make the female version a bit more like FFX-2 (as much as you can with small sprites), but I think I'm gonna try to keep it to it's roots.  I'm probably gonna do something like this version.  Try to keep it classic, maybe just a tad taller.  Gonna keep the female like the original FFT version, but I'm thinking of opening the front of the cloak a to show a bit more of the body.
I'll test a bit and post a few ideas (soon....ish).

Alright.  I got a bit of time and am taking a mini break from other stuff.  Did some tweaking of the male Wizard.  A lot of the arms had to be fixed.  Lots of pixels going over the hat and all.  Got all the frames up until the water ones done.  Looks a bit odd once I got to that point.  I may have edited the body after I'd already copied them for the water frames and forgot to duplicate it for them.  Gonna redo those and see if all is fixed.  Other than that, pretty much done.  Hopefully I'll get back to it tomorrow and have it finished.
