That would fall under another Language's definition of the word.

If they are speaking Spanish then I assume Armada means army in Spanish.

Hopefully Arch can tell us.
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness, bringing torment and pain to others. Oh damned soul wallowing in your sin, perhaps...it is time to die

I'm pretty sure it means 'Navy' or 'armed' in Spanish.
I refuse to play Final Fantasy Tactics again until I am able to do my FF6 patch! And, FFT 1.3 doesn't technically count as FFT: so there!

Well, regardless.... Final Fantasy Tactics uses several things from other Nationalities in it's game. And if it's any consolation, Ivalice looks kind of like Europe....
So, In the end, I believe Armada was an alright term. Moving along, does anybody have anything else to say about the story?

I started working on the script....

the definition of Armada in spanish:

armada s. f.
1.   Conjunto de las fuerzas navales de un estado.
2.   Conjunto de embarcaciones de guerra que participan en una acción o se destinan a un servicio determinado.

which directly translates into:

1. Group of naval forces belonging to a country or nation
2. Group of war vessels that take part in an action or determined service

So the definition didn't change.

Then again we probably commandeered the word for use in the English language.
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness, bringing torment and pain to others. Oh damned soul wallowing in your sin, perhaps...it is time to die

....

There are a lot more things that dont make sense in the Final Fantasy world, we dont need to spend all our time on this topic discussing the legitimacy of the word "Armada"

In Portuguese, Armada=Army.

Guys, its Izlude_Tingel's topic. im not sure he appreaciates the continued conversation of the word armada when he has said there are more deserving discusions relating FFT, and possibly his patch.

In short i think i speak for izlude when i say; "Focus on the patch, not literal definitions"

I mean, its just a word....
I could have called it the Holy farmers and it wouldn't have mattered. The Group still would carry out the same tasks.

Thank you, SentinalBlade...

Does anyone have any questions or comments about the characters? Because that is the area I'm working in right now.

.... This just doesn't end does it?
I never thought people would get so fixated on the stupidest thing.

Why is that all you guys care about?!?! It's Holy Armada, and it will stay that way. I've had that name for almost 4 years now. So can we please NEVER speak of the Armada thing? Please!?

DP and some others have a REALLY hard time KEEPING SPAM IN THE SPAM TOPIC.

I actually like the holy armada. the english language has proven through out time that the language is born to adapt...

At any rate, is there any more information on the background of the main character? will there be more than the main characters mentioned appearing from the holy armada? like maybe their boss makes an appearence somewhere along the story

Armada sounds fine. The Inquisition was originally named The Holy Office, but I didn't see any inquisitors having a desk!!

SentinalBlade, ph33rb0t is simply spreading the ph33r!!!!

*Ahem* I apologize for starting this madness that has taken up waaaaaaaaay to much space.  Anyway what will the main character appear as?  If he is working for the templarate will he have the traditional gold leg/arm armor with a colored tunic over it, or will he appear as something else?  If he does take that guise, will he have the hood like what Loffrey had, or will he be hoodless like the other members?

I agree with Sentinal the English language is the most versatile one I know of.

Also I said Holy Ventriloquists to lighten the mood and steer us back on topic.

Or I was spreading the ph33r, whichever one you like.

With the amount of spam, for a time it deserved to, but this guy has a wellthought story...if he posted i nthe new projects/ideas thread, itd be alot harder to organize everything inbetween the posts relating to other ideas. some that were going nowhere needed to be shut down. this one is getting back on track.

I knew you were joking Darthpaul, I really did ;)
and thanks SentinalBlade, for really bringing this back on track.

on friday, my friend let me borrow his PSP, so I am finally able to play Tactics again. The only problem is, he didn't give me the charger so it died before I even got to Dorter trade city. The reason I bring this up is because when somebody is going to create a new story for anything... or even any idea at all... they are inspired by their surroundings.
Like, the music you listen to, the things you watch on TV, or the games you play.

Seeing as how I am trying to create a story based on Final Fantasy Tactics, it is good to keep myself exposed to the game. So, by playing FFT all day, I will get ideas for the story.
If we need to go over the characters again, I will:

Torren Lenando- leader of his team in the Holy Armada. He will look something like Mustadio. So, that's what his sprite will be based off of. His initial job will be just like Ramza.

Isabella- an archer, that simple. Her sprite will be a simple female archer, however her abilities will be like the combination of a knight and engineer. So she can break weapons/armor/stats and use arm aim/ leg aim.

Tuckert- a former Nanten knight, his job will actually officially be Holy Knight. His sprite will be Wiegraff while he was im the Death corps.

Gaston- a young priest, his sprite will simply be a male white mage. His skills however will be the same as the Heresy Examiner Zalmo.

Radcliff- Torren's best friend. His sprite will be a simple squire, but his face shot will be the Death corps Squire from the first battle in Gariland. His abilities will be the same as Torren.

IS that a good overview of the main characters?

Simple, yet profound, sounds pretty good.
"Moment's anger can revert to joy,
sadness can be turned to delight.
A nation destroyed cannot be restored,
the dead brought back to life."

Excellent summary, izlude.

I recommend a different name for Radcliffe though.

Radcliffe is a genericly rolled name for males. i get it tons of times with my male starting generics. its a good name, but not most unique

I like Torren though. very cool.
