EDIT: Noticed a major problem, trying to fix it. It is a large problem, but fixable,  though it will take a while.

You just have to reedit again, change his eyes, smile, hair, clothes, some colors, but this time, you'll have less problems.

Spriter's rule: KISS
Keep it simple, spriter. :)
borrow, borrow, and borrow..
then EDIT. Note that you don't have to make your own pixels to make it original.

Well, if you have no choice left, then stay where you think you're comfortable working with.

Hope that helps.

QuoteKetian's head doesn't quite look right with the mystic shoulders in that portrait...

Yep, you got a point there.

@sprite,
what's the problem, btw?

When I test it with Sishi, it says some pixels are getting colors from beyond the first 16 slots. I'm trying to track down where this is, I found a couple, but the problem persists.

There are colors from the sprite that is used by the portrait. I tried removing the portrait, and it works.
Try it. :)

guys, really

when you are working on a sprite that you are gonna copy/paste other parts in, you should make a 16 color limited copy and work in that one so the imported parts assume the nearest colors and dont mess up your work

Ramza: But im a monk!!

I know that now, Zozma. Thanks, I'll make sure to do it in the future, but I fixed it.

Well, here is the full sprite sheet. It is 16 colors, but not all of the parts line up the right way on Sishi. Can someone with more experience look at it for me and tell me what I need to do?

Sorry, I got busy..
I can't tell you what to do next,
but I can point the problems.

What I can advice to you is to test them out yourself using ShiShi editor. (be sure to place them in type 2)

Well the major problem was that I was looking at it as type 1, but there were still other problems, and I fixed them all!

So, here is the complete sprite sheet with no graphical glitches. The shading may be a little off in places, but other than that, it's perfect. All that is left is the portrait.

Here's my latest portrait. Took the front part of the hair from Wiegraff, and added a little part of my own. I think this looks much better than my previous work. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Did some minor adjustments.

I think.. He looks quite.. hmm.
Don't be offended, but frankly, I think he's not handsome.

The clothes' outline and design needs to be redone. Yes it matches the sprite's colors, but not the design.
Since you based in from the oracle, I think you need to start there.

Also, the hair.. I don't like it that much. He looks like he has curly hair.
Clean it up, don't use different shades fluently for the hair. Keep the shading simple.
Also, make it blend to the head, by adding a dark shaded skin tone between the hair and his
forehead.

but.. that's a lot better than the old one.

Don't worry, I'm not offended. I'm new at this, and you are experienced. I don't want to make something that isn't good.

Here is the new portrait, based on the oracle shoulders, but bulked them up a bit. I took a little shading out of the hair, it's more solid now. Same style, though.

Thanks.

^ That's a lot better! Nice improvement. Here's what to do next:
Fix the outlines, use anti-aliasing, or just take a brighter color for the outline for the yellow part.
The outlines for the hair needs some fixing, too, make the color of each edge pixel lighter.

Do you mind if I take a try on it, too?
Well, if you can finish it before I do, then great. :P

I dont mean to be rude but you will probably never make a decent portrait unless it is a complete copy/paste job. This goes for basically anyone except for a small handful of people.

Sure you can work on it, I won't be able to work on it again for another... 14 hours.

Thanks.

True. That's why I posted that image in the first page. :)
But no worries.. I see some potential with you silent_1, bec. you're brave to touch a portrait and make it yours.

Ok.

w00t!

Quote from: "mad mike"Here:
I based the portrait solely on base portraits.
based it from
-your current work (for colors)
-my previous sent image

-priest's hair bangs
-Kletian's hair and face
-oracle's clothes

I made him look young and handsomeeeh.
What I did to make it good: I rotated the oracle's clothes
to match with the angle of the head and shoulders, then edited the clothes a bit.
After that, I based the hair from the male white mage(priest), too.

Be sure to learn from it..
