About the sprites i saw...? (new here)

I saw some custom made sprites on this site that were pretty awesome.. I was just wondering if i could download them and put them on this game (WotL) and if i can....how do i do it?

Would it be something as simple as editing a save file..... And, if i just edit a save file, will it work on the PS1/PSN version? (since im not really trying to hack the PSN version, just a save file)
