After the poll about weather to keep mimes or calculators available, ive decided to create blue mages in place of Calculators.
Based on what skills Monsters and enemy humans have, what would you guys like to see? Ultima COULD be included here if removed from ramza's guts set.
So far:

Magic Spirit (maybe)

Choco Meteor (chocobo can use it instantly and free, it has a CT and costs mp for blue mages)

Triple Bracelet is the only one I'd really like to see

Since Chocokin is out of the question we need one other their skills, I was going to say Choco Meteor but we don't want the class to be broken with all the other suggestions. I could settle for ball or cure, cure being harder to get until you have your own chocobo.

This is a good point. I was thinking Oink for a healing move as it is even harder to get (need to have monster skill)... slap a ridiculous MP cost on there and it'd be sick!
the cool thing is, the skills can be given mp costs, and monsters can still use them as much as they want as long as they have that much mp or higher. so only humans get the requirement. also, skills can be given a CT and then monsters can be set to use them instantly. so "penalties" for using them as a human can be created easily.
how about the Dryad skills? Calm Spirit? Magic Spirit, Life Spirit?
calm and magic or whatnnot can be altered so they dont do plain old protect/shell bla bla, life spirit a healing ability
I was thinking Magic Spirit. Blue Magic is only cool when it is very original, and having the only (or at least one of the few) MP healing techniques would be a great addition
an ma raising skill would be nice too, but it wouldnt be exactly like accumulate since it would need to target others
How about making calm spirit/other ability into mighty guard?
This would also be a good job to give Shadow Flare to if you wanted to make it (everyone is raving about it in the mercenaries forum section)
hmm shadowflare sounds nice, did they use "blind 2" for the effect?
anyone thought about Giga Flare? either that or i could allow ultima/archaic demons to be recruited

giga flare is a good possibility along with ulmaguest (which looks really cool)

it will not be used as blue magic. It will be part of Larg and Tietra's skillset

If anyone had the time, i suggested on the Mercenary forums that there could be such thing as Lvl(#)(Spell) (ex. Lvl5Death). if anyone has an idea how this could work that would be cool.

you cant learn while in either of those status, otherwise id definately do blaster
Blood suck? the version of it that only randomly causes "blood suck" status could be learnable
Death cold will not be blue magic, Miang who has the skillset called "Fearblade" will have swordskill versions of those type of skills at ma costs. weapon damage + the status inflictions
perhaps something that causes oil status since i have Razele's asm hack that makes oil work properly

however, Triple Thunder, Triple Flame, and Dark Whisper (which has been made to function the same 3 times like the other two) could be made to work
Also, Lifebreak? would it make sense to have both lifebreak AND ulmagest? would you ever use lifebreak when you coudl use ulmaguest?
which would you guys prefer? i was thinking of making a spell that uses the ulmagest effect, called X-Zone, which is a AoE 2, chance at causing death. However that would have to be given to a special unit as it would be impossible to blue magic.
really? it worked fine when i used it in a small hack where i gave reis more dragon abilities...

triple thunder and triple flame would be very powerful for the blue mage's set, dark whisper sounds good to me
ulmaguest has an AoE so i guess they are different. X-zone would be a good idea!

they do the pose humans do with most monster skills where the weird blue knife comes up, except there's no weird blue knife
does't spark hit the caster also? that could be wierd... but i think odd soundwave could be a good addition to mix up the skillset

Heals ~25-50% of hp in a PBAoE 4 Star cross surrounding the caster. Does not hit the caster.
now thats an interesting idea, do we have a formula currently that can do that... i forget? In other games doesnt it heal in the amount of hp the caster has currently?
Yea. So a high HP Ignis with 900HP can use White Wind on her comrades and heal there HP up completely unless...

1000 needles could be converted back to, "Blowfish" like it is in ff6
and make it a set amount of damage. even tho 1000 damage in ff6 would be like 1/10th of the targets hp on lvl99 i think id make it do a solid 400 or 500 damage here?
hmm...I'd say 200-400, 400-500 is generally an insti-kill even if you are high leveled.

This is vanilla PSX only yes? I know that razelle has done an ASM hack to make potions heal a set % of hp. Why not pick his brain for help creating a similar skill?

but dwib, i know how to fix those glitches. the problem is, by doing so the monster wont look bugged but wont necessarily use the desired animation either.
example? I have to create a duplicate of the skill "self destruct" so that bombs dont looks that funny animation they do.
i see! how will they blue mages be able to learn the repaired abilities of blue mage if they are hit by the non-repaired abilities of the monsters?
there is a 4th tier bomb that will have it
some of them u have to watch out for subtle differences. the learnable one will have the magic charge overhead like a normal spell. not many tho. im trying my best not to have to waste skill slots by duping spells
it might be hard to find some of those rare monsters, but once one person learns something like exploder, u can teach it to everyone else right

no, only some spells will have 4th tier monsters. Most of them will be learnable anytime. Some spells will be missable, and some will be as common as .. well a goblin, lol.
mindflare would make a nice blue mage skill,maybe a little cheap,but it would be nice

hmm well use white wind, i dont know what monster will let you learn it tho, perhaps the rare white chocobo. All the skills im 100% certain of using are listed on the first post.
White chocobo isn't a bad idea, however unless you get reallllllly lucky, you won't learn it, short of taming the monster. (only thieves can do that, right?)

hey Zozma, for ur X-Zone skill couldnt u have it as an insta-kill and also causes Jump status so the enemy would leave the battle field?
thats interesting, but death and jump aren't stackable are they, if they were u could be targetted by those kinds of skills while your lancers are in flight....
as for the rare monsters, well that would simply make white wind one of the hard to get skills. i guess if you have a way to confuse the enemy they might cast it. but you cant tame 4th tier monsters
So does the white chocobo class as rare - map only? or is there a chance for it to be bred with normal monsters? Or is it a rare tier4?
there are at least 3 "4th" tier Chocobos btw, however, the other two do not have any blue magic as of yet.
and yes, chances are it will appear only one 1 map (not randomly on that map, randomly on one of the randoms only. so very rare

Maybe some of those "Soul" skills the skeletons have as well maybe?
Maybe they can learn some of the Calculator's old skills to sort of fill in the traditional "Lvl5 Death" or something.
theres no way to do the calculator skill properly.
as for the "soul" skills they are blue magics for the 4 element characters.
thunder soul could be used that way tho if anyone is interested.
Edit: Okay so i have a new idea for X-Zone per razele's idea. its just that its not blue mage-able so it will definately be just one of Balmafula's arch witch skills. The skill will petrify + wall or something to the effect of being unable to remove the frozen CT. I might use "vanish" status as well to show an effect making it look like they are only partially in this plane.
actually, instead of "petrify" it will probably be dark/evil looking
And, Knife hand wouldnt make sense to use as a blue mage because it, like all other monster attack skills is equal to an unarmed human, martial arts would strengthen it but its then just like a barehanded attack.
I could make "thunder soul" blue magic since the 4 elemental specials learn the other soul skills. or i could make "throw spirit" learnable and that would be like a long range physical attack.
hmm...zozma if you edit the stautes in FFTPatcher you can make it so jumo and death are stackable. can enemies even target you if your in flight? i though there was no way to target anything in flight or if you could it would be auto-0% chance of hitting.

You can't target the unit individually whilst in flight, but you can target the panel where he will land. I don't know if the death counter ticks down whilst in flight though.
and i just thought jump was a status, and thats why they have it not stackable with anything. have you tested out the targetting thingy? because it would really make X-zone more realistic if it moved them somewhere that u couldnt reach them
im pretty sure that if your in flight you cannot be targeted. Jump is a status just like death if you make so they can stack they can stack on each other but since jumps affect is to avoid all attacks in the air it wont be affected by death

You notice the unit's information does not show up? The unit appears dead, but as far as targeting it has completely disappeared, so you can't revive it. This may be useful.
hah! quite interesting, the description of X-Zone could be, "severs the unit's soul from its body, preventing it from being brought back to the world of the living"
but can you "Death" someone that is in flight?
i am assuming you can't becasue you can't even target units in flight i think. maybe having death sentence expire while in mid-jump would be possible, although their dead sprite would probably fall back to earth i'm assuming.
hmmm.. well this X zone thing sounds doable now, i could probably use transparent as a special effect as well to show a non targetable state
Hmm, to me transparent makes me imagine the unit is a ghost. Maybe you can make use of the evil/dark-looking status to represent the unit's soul missing. I haven't taken a look at this status effect myself to see exactly what it looks like, so take that suggestion with a grain of salt.
i believe transparent would add a lot to the overall effect.
okay, for certain reasons i wont be adding "thunder soul" or "gigaflare" to this list evar!

Okay so another "blue magic" the 4th skill for mustadeo, im thinking of making a special gun that will be the "materia blade" item. to prevent that ugly glitch with bows. so his 4th skill will require it but you can get the gun if snipers drop it as treasure.

just to let everyone know, pertaining to blue mages. I have chosen to ditch blue mages as an accessible class altogether.
Instead im creating a secondary black mage that will feature the 3 other elements + Doom, Charm, and Ultima(2).
yet again, i am giving 2 more special charaters (they will have the normal squire job, however, will be the only ones with this "generic" job "Sage" unlocked.
their sprites? 10 year old girl, and 10 year old boy (havent named the 2 kids yet
sage can only be unlocked by having a certain level as the sage job, therefore its impossible to get this job unless its already unlocked thru ENTD

Im still thinking their jobs over, however, because they are chapter 1 characters although they have the status of generics.
What about spillover JP? I mean, if the two characters use that job enough, everyone will be able to have access to them. That's a lot of spillover, but it's still possible.
as far as i know its impossible for spillover jp to get you there since the only way to activate the job is to have a certain level in itself
then again bloody blade might know as he has trained using a former patch. i sealed off mime and calculator requiring lvl8 in each of those

Well, if the kids stay in the Sage job, they'll gain JP. And since it's technically on the job wheel, the rest of your characters will still gain JP in it, until they get enough JP to unlock it, however much that may be.
hmm well if the requirement is lvl 8...
but im considering making them have lesser magics anyway or perhaps getting an asm to block spillover
It might require ASM, the job wheel has a mind of it's own.

the required jp in my patch for lvl 8 is about 9000 jp so if they are set to lvl8 its going to be a looooong time before any of your normal characters spillover that much jp.
i think starting them at lvl5 will even cost a great deal of jp so if you really train hard enough perhaps its a little reward for wasting so much time lol
If you make the requirements both lvl 8 mime and calculator, wouldn't that block any spill over possibilities if there are no guest/ally mime units?
i just assumed that you couldnt activate a job with spillover if it requires levels in itself to be activated
however, if one manages to actiave the mime or sage by spillover somehow then you must have spent a very long time playing
mime requires lvl8 in EVERYTHING including itself and the only reason for this is to make all random hume enemies have a larger amount of learned skills for whatever they are.
