Its been a very long time since I have posted here but I remember the only way to really edit the text on the PSP version was to try to match the character length and format of any of the fields you were changing. It has been a while since I have tried any modding or editing of FFT but the PSP tools haven't changed much.

With a save editor I am pretty sure you can add the items to the fur shop (non-poachable though). It has been awhile but I remember that I found a non ideal workaround for the newer items.

Or you could just lower the amount of JP needed to go up job levels and learn skills across the board for a similar effect. I assume you are looking to do this to lower the amount of time you need to grind.

Good to know. I knew about the asm hacks though.

Will most of the FFT Patcher changes you have made work in WotL?

Also Eternal was nice enough to supply me with a copy of his .fftext file for WotL KO because of the restrictions to patching the WotL version. Is there a way to add an option to FFTactext to remove the kanji code for the PSP version?

Thanks! I will download it and take a look at it tomorrow. By the way in your FFTA patch, I think you should keep the laws but following them gives you benefits instead of penalties.

That would be awesome. Easier to work with a base then to start from scratch. I really appreciate this.

Sounds like a ton of work and restrictions. Thanks for the info.

Help! / FFTacText Issues
April 09, 2012, 11:05:04 pm
Since I saw the new mod to speed up the PSP version of FFT I decided to try making a patch for it, however, I have run into a wall with this.

Everytime I try patching anything for the PSP version I get an error.

"DTE for BOOT.BIN 5 failed.
The ISO has NOT been modified."

I have tried this a number of different ways. Used totally unpatched ISO, tried .fftext file with changes and without changes. Imported it directly from clean ISO and tried patching same ISO with no changes and I still get this error. This is the only problem I have before I get started. If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Have been playing Resident Evil Mercs 3D and it is surprisingly fun. Hopefully soon I get my copy of Xenoblade and that will occupy my time.

Edit: Finally got Xenoblade Chronicles and it is one of the most amazing RPG's I have ever played. If you have a Wii you have to get this game.

I agree that MysticKnightFF5's post is a bit much but the US did help Al-Queda and gave them a lot of what they had before they were abandoned and we decided to help other countries in the middle east. Don't get me wrong I condemn all attacks of terrorism but I can understand their hatred for us. Our support for Israel is one of those reasons.

I know that the slowdown isn't as bad on newer PSPs - ones with more RAM, or clocked faster?  I'm reminded of the appalling slowdown on the PS1 ports of FF4, 5, 6, and Chrono Trigger.  Asking the guys at RHDN about the slowdown on those games could yield some clues, along with finding out if UMDs read slower than CDs.

They definitely read slower but even with a PSP running with more RAM and the ISO on the memory card it is still painfully slow compared to converting the PSX version to be PSP compatible. One of the main reasons I don't play the PSP version anymore on my PSP.

Well just got the new 3DS with SSFIV. 3D effects are great and loving the minigames that come with the 3DS as well.

I would definitely be interested in this being a successful project, but I'm not sure if I could be helpful with this. I know very basic hex editing and don't usually have a lot of time on my hands.

The Lounge / Re: What makes FFT such a popular hack?
February 13, 2011, 08:03:19 am
Its a popular hack because it has a lot of potential to play the game differently. Even with small hacks like save editor you can drastically change how u play the game by changing what characters you have on your team. SRPGs in general are great for hacking because they usually have many abilities and characters you don't have access too, that become available via hacking, making a playthrough a different experience each time.

Playing Valkyria Chronicles on PS3. Still playing call of duty: Black ops on occasion and Angry Birds on the iPad when I'm bored.
