Title: Download the Patch: Current Version .50
Post by: Cheetah on September 04, 2009, 01:07:35 pm
Install Instructions:

All patches are being released in PPF format. You will need a clean rip of a Final Fantasy Tactics PSX ISO and a program that can apply PPF patches. I would recommend PPF-O-Matic for Windows:

http://www.ffhacktics.com/downloads/ppf-o-matic3.exe (http://www.ffhacktics.com/downloads/ppf-o-matic3.exe)

Applying the patch in PPF-O-Matic is pretty self explanatory. Under "ISO File" click the floppy disk icon on the right, select the clean ISO you wish to patch and click open. Under "Patch" click the floppy disk icon on the right, select the version of the patch you are applying and click open. Next click the "Apply" icon. Note that patching could take a very long time and even may look like it isn't processing it likely is, a message will appear at the end saying you successfully patched.

Current Beta: v.50

-Script: 100% (untested)

-Text: 100% (untested)

-Graphical:
World Map Locations (untested)
Battle Conditions(untested)
Map Titles(untested)
Battle Statuses

-Hacks:
Books unlocked

Old Betas:

-All releases prior to v.50 can be found in the FFT:C Project thread on the first page.

Excellent! Now we've got 1.3 and a PSX Port of the PSP remake of a PSX game...my mind are brokening...

I wonder though...would it be possible to adapt WotL 1.3 to this, or would it just be safe to patch WotL 1.3 over it?
Title:
Post by: Kagebunji on September 13, 2009, 06:04:39 am
I'm curious, is Onion and Dark knight avaible on this patch too?
Title:

No it is not.

Congrats Cheetah, downloading the patch as we speak, I'll let you know what I find.

OK, I don't know how to put up screenshots, but I'm having trouble with the screen to select your birthday, the months are all garbled; January is 'JanJary" April is "AprilMay" throwing every month after off a month, and than December is "Nope". Anyone else having the same problem?
Title:
Post by: TRC on September 13, 2009, 10:39:42 am
I will check
Title:
Post by: TRC on September 13, 2009, 10:42:02 am
eh, I dont get the same thing.

the months go like this "Month  .Day"

I'm assuming the period is supposed to be there
Title:
Post by: TRC on September 13, 2009, 10:42:20 am
so basically, assuming the period is supposed to be there, it works fine with me.
Title:
Post by: trismegistus on September 13, 2009, 10:51:02 am
Yeah, ixnay on the problem I discovered, it stemmed from patching over a version of the game that had already been patched with an earlier version, looks to be all fixed now. Thanks though.

Will PSP content like the new quest and jobs be added ?
Title:
Post by: Zaen on September 13, 2009, 02:33:01 pm
No. It's PSX game content + Books with PSP text.
Title:
Post by: duduric on September 13, 2009, 08:25:21 pm
I know that, but are there any plans?
Title:
Post by: Cheetah on September 13, 2009, 09:39:11 pm
This project is meant to be a base for other projects to build off of. Likely one such project would be a port of WotL, but there are no plans at this point.
Title:
Post by: Mental_Gear on September 14, 2009, 02:28:18 am
So it's a TacText time-saver?
Title:
Post by: Asmo X on September 14, 2009, 07:12:15 am
Yeah don't add tweaks to gameplay or anything. Keep doing the base patch stuff.
Title:
Post by: Mental_Gear on September 14, 2009, 08:58:54 am
Ah, so it should be safe to patch over this? Wouldn't it just be better to supply us with the TacText file?
Title:
Post by: Vanya on September 14, 2009, 12:07:53 pm
The patcher can load stuff directly from the patched ISO anyway, so it's a non-issue.
Title:
Post by: Xifanie on September 19, 2009, 08:12:07 pm
FFT: C v.50b doesn't seem to have any problem running on a PSX.
I played until the world map fine without any glitch, where my PSX just wouldn't load the world map... I need a new laser lense for my PSX. :(

i dont get it.. whats the difference of normal fft and fft complete aside from the text? and what are the "books"?

does this have a multiplayer? becuase im searching for a fft that has multiplayer and ill play it in psx emu..

or.. a psp emu that can play fft.. so that i can play the multiplayer. =)
Title:
Post by: MiKeMiTchi on October 10, 2009, 04:10:02 am
ffcomplete is all about text edits and translations.
The books? haha. Play the patch to know them. I don't know, too, but those
are lacking with the normal north american fft. Also Generic quotes.

Yes, this has multiplayer!! You get to play with AIs!
Oh just kidding.
Title:
Post by: gerger_ang on October 10, 2009, 04:31:18 am
is your joke about the "it has multiplayer"?
or your joke is about "you can play with AIs"?

or better yet.. does this have multiplayer? if not.. what fft have multiplayer on espxe?

QuoteApparently the latest Ultimate Hits Japanese version of the game has the ability to support two controllers in the debug mode. This could just be a rumor I haven't seen it myself, but I am definitely actively try to. So seeing how this functionality could be implemented certainly intrigues me, but as far as how the PSP does multiplayer I can't imagine anyone could get that happening on the PSX version. So it is a cool idea but highly unlikely.

any word on how this is going?
Title:
Post by: Cheetah on October 20, 2009, 03:25:39 am
Update: Waiting for more testing to be completed mostly. There was a big rush and then not much has happened and I don't think it is because we didn't make lots of mistakes. Next release will be paired with Heian's translation of the first book hopefully, so that is taking time but he is making great progress. Frankly I started grad school and am working two jobs so my hacking time has dissappeared, but the hack is at a stage where it is totally playable and will just have periodic updates till everything is done. This will give us time to research and implement things like the music test and other things.
Title:
Post by: TRC on October 20, 2009, 04:08:50 am
cool shit, dont feel pressured by me >_>

real life > whatever the hell goes on here

I was just wondering because I'm like OCD and don't like playing through an entire unfinished project, and I was waiting for this before I do my next playthrough of FFT. Once again I will say don't feel pressured, I've played enough FFT to last a lifetime so this isn't a very pressing issue. <_<

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, dude.
My unemployed ass has lots of time and a severe lack of focus right now.
Except for the week of my wedding+honeymoon I'll have lots of time to work on stuff.
And besides testing you know I can mess with graphics and research data. ^_^

um cheetah, is fft: complete compatible with fft 1.3030? because i've tried patched with both. And i got a lot of text error such as Ramza's Squire become Arc Knight, his skills are messed up, almost every texts are messed up, i assume FFT:Complete cannot be used together with 1.3?

i'm sorry but i've tried looking the other topics in this project but i couldn't seem to find the answer..
Title:
Post by: philsov on October 20, 2009, 02:52:11 pm
not directly, no.

.ppf files only work off CLEAN images.  A tainted image that's already been patched with a ppf, subjected to another ppf, is going to have a metric asston of errors.

The best thing you can do is just download the 1.3easytype:complete patch atm -- the advanced text edits this game has makes them rather... untransferrable otherwise unless you have some more advanced tools.

There will still be some sprite flubs and minor graphic glitches, and you miss out on the vormav 1v1, but you keep the PSP script with the (most of the) 1.3 gameplay :)
Title:
Post by: Cheetah on October 20, 2009, 03:37:55 pm
Orlandu: Like Philsov said they wont work innately together. But there are definitely plans for combining the two. I would even go so far as to say that once the next update comes out that we will probably release a combo patch soon after.

We could really use some more tester input, it would be nice to know how far people have gotten in the game and if they have honestly just not found anything else. Hopefully we will get some more motivating things happening soon to propel the testing to the end stages.
Title:

Quote from: "philsov"- open up a patched 1.3 iso in fftpatcher, apply that patcher file onto a patched FFT:C file.
- steal Dominic's text overlay (found in the 1.3 easytype download topic, first page), and apply that on top of the FFT:C file.

maybe i'll try those. thanks.

Do you need testing of "only" FFT:C or maybe a combined FFT:C 1.3 will do just fine? i will help testing if i have some free times

I hope there will be unique jobs that will be coming and new characters that will be added
if so then it would be greatly appreciated.

That would be beyond the scope of this patch IIRC.
Title:
Post by: DarthPaul on October 26, 2009, 10:04:10 am
Way beyond the scope. This isn't a re-balance, or a redesign it's just translation and slight edit.

Now to check if my version is the latest.

Post by: FMArthur on October 27, 2009, 01:02:48 am
This is excellent work. I've just rediscovered FFT through the PSP remake/port, but combat takes so much less time in the original that I've sort of changed my mind about WotL and the text/translation was the only thing that still made me play the new one. Since I have no local multiplayer opponents and never want to use the new characters, equipment and jobs for various reasons, this patch is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for spending your time on this; you've made me a very happy man. If I notice any problems I'll post here again but I'm mainly just here to say thank you, Cheetah.

Edit: When you first come to Lionel Castle, there is a scene where the gatekeeper asks your group why are there before they raise the gate. The screen shifts to your party when the guard asks, but there is no speech (I believe Agrias is the one who's supposed to say something here). The rest of the short scene continues as normal.

Edit2: At the end of chapter two there is the long explanation of the War of the Lions, but when the text ends the screen doesn't fade for a very long time and you're stuck looking at the silly image of mounted chocobo knights in combat for a few minutes.

Thanks for the support FMArthur, though I have to admit that this was a team effort and I don't take all the credit.

That is an interesting observation, I will have to check it out. Do you mind posting that in the "Testers: Script" topic as well so that I don't forget about it?

Hey, this was something I was thinking about recently, thought I'd toss it out to the FFT team, though i have no clue if it's beyond the scope of the patch or even worth anyone's time.

In the game, all the Lucavi's host bodies (ie Folmarv, Wiegraf, etc) have matching birth signs to the demon inhabiting them, ie Folmarv is a Leo, Wiegraf is an Aries. However, this doesn't extend to the other Braves in the storyline who you never fight as Lucavi, ie Isilud holds the Pisces stone, but he's, I believe, a Gemini. I seriously doubt this is a bug, more likely the developers didn't think it to be a big deal, since it never comes up in the game (thusly I wasn't sure where to post this, so I just stuck it on the main thread). Anyway, as I said I don't know if this is something the patch should even address, it was just sticking in my mind as I was playtesting, so there you go.
Title:
Post by: Cheetah on October 29, 2009, 07:01:35 pm
I'm not sure that is an issue and I think it was likely all on purpose. I could be wrong, but I thought that the point of those characters not becoming actual Lucavi was partly due to the fact that they were the wrong zodiac sign compared to the stone. Thus I don't think Isilud was a Brave/Lucavi.

Thoughts?

Right. The stones are the ones with signs, they do not affect the host's sign.

Fully incorrect but I can see where you get the idea for...

The only people who correspond to their stones are Dycedarg (I believe...) St. Ajora (not Alma), Elmdor, and Vormav. Alma is a Leo and Wiegraf is a Virgo. I don't think it was any mistake.
Title:
Post by: trismegistus on October 29, 2009, 09:03:30 pm
Ah, so you're correct, for some reason I thought Wiegraf was a Aries, must've just been a coincidence with the others than.

On all versions there are "leftovers" of a partially working debug mode. It can be accessed by codes.

"someone" i know owns a real review copy of FFT quite early and with the WHOLE and WORKING debug options open.

Options for controlling all, 2 pad controls, pausing for taking screenshots and a lot of extras were in there... and also a bird sight view could be used....

source is here:
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/sh ... sy+tactics (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6068&highlight=final+fantasy+tactics)

from the end of page 1 on.. pictures are gone sadly but maybe web archives might still have them...

i was also offered a copy at 750$ from another user... It was too much for my pocket :P

getting our hands on one of this could really open new things in hacking FFT.

So far, I love the patch, with a few notable exceptions:

Ladd
"Perhaps it is the will of god. Take it up with him" (that whole exchange was just WRONG).
Eagrose
The Corpse Brigade.

Other than that, so far, everything is functional, and to my liking. I'm sure I'll hate argath and forlmarv and loffrey, but we'll take it as they come, won't we? The new generic names are awesome, I just hope that Junk is still in there.

Who would be crazy enough to make such tools? :)

I actually have been working on my editor, Ganesha, a tiny bit. (Very tiny.) The trouble is, I've been away from it for a long time, and now that I'm working with it again, I'm unhappy with the way I wrote large portions of it. So I need to figure out what I'm going to do about that.

It's Vanilla with the WotL text, bug fixes, and a bunch of previously untranslated content from the Japanese version.
It's intended as a base patch, and I'm additionally working on preparing as many NPCs as possible for immediate use by hackers.

So, I've been reading that its not really possible to use TacText on a FFT:C game.  Is this because using TacText to make a small change in say a skill description will "untranslate" all of the skill descriptions?  I'm not really sure how it works yet, as I've only tinkered with it a little bit.

Anyway, would it be possible or prudent to release each patch file individually?  For example if release FFTPatcher, FFTacText, FFTorgASM, etc. files in addition to the ppf files in so that people can break things down a bit better?
Title: Re: Download the Patch: Current Version .50
Post by: Cheetah on May 07, 2010, 09:09:41 pm
Opening FFT:C with TacText should make it completely editable. The problem is likely that we used a slightly modified version of TacText the fixed some bugs that aren't fixed in the current public version. I will talk to Melonhead about it.
Title: Re: Download the Patch: Current Version .50
Post by: Timbo on May 07, 2010, 11:09:46 pm
Thanks Cheetah, at the time I posted this I didn't really know what I was doing with TacText and I was going off of problems written about in another post.  When I tried opening up my FFT:C ISO with TacText it didn't appear any different from vanilla.  I don't know if I opened the wrong ISO by mistake or what, but after playing with it more and digging around a bit, I can see that things are working fine.

I haven't however actually patched anything yet, so that custom version of TacText might be just what the doctor ordered.

Did this problem ever get properly solved? Melonhead hasn't been seen around here for months. I also know several people have requested this version of TacText, and to my knowledge never received it. Many personal patches are patiently awaiting a solution, and the so-called workaround doesnt seem to work very often. It never worked for me.

just wondering, any word on the ETA for the next release of complete?

Basically I just need to get my butt in gear and get some work done. I really want to get these books complete, and Heian has made some really good progress so I just need to get it working in game. It is just a tedious process.

Hey guys, nice work on this. I'm playing it on my PSX, and I'm still at the beginning, grinding a bit, haha.

A question: can I patch this versions on a FFT japanese iso?

No, I doubt it would even start. The japanese ISO is constructed very differently.

Oh, I see. Well, I was searching for the differences between the japanese and the american versions, and I found the first to be harder, and with a lot of other different things, like the impossiblity to get the Genji Set (you can't steal from Elmdor on the JP version), the music test, higher job requirements and values to buy some skills as well.

But well, I like the US version too. :) Keep the good work!

Is the additional fight from the PSP version going to appear in FFT: C?

The fight in Chapter 4, after you get Meliadoul on your team, where she is added to the battle as a guest and fight Kletian.

It's been a while since I played the PSP version but I think there were a few more battles w/o new characters (other than the one in spoilers above) that did not have specific new content like jobs and/or items that possible could be added.

I think TacText from v0.466 is the non-buggy version.

Personally I wanted to try to get as much of that stuff in, but there just isn't space for the extra scenarios and battle from what I understand.

I think Raven's made some extra space for events, so that's something you might want to look into.

This project is strictly not about adding any of the WotL content other than translation. If you want the WotL content people should play WotL. I wont do it as part of FFT:C, but others are welcome to do so.

If that's the case I think I might just have a side project to work on. Or an addendum patch as it would be called at RHDN.

Hi all, new to this forum.

What version (I assume US/NTSC) is this patch meant to be applied to? And in what format (bin/cue/ccd, bin/iso, or .iso)?

Thanks!
Title: Re: Download the Patch: Current Version .50
Post by: Xifanie on April 16, 2011, 01:39:21 am
Yes, only US/NTSC. There is no PAL version for the PSX at least, and not much of us can actually speak Japanese. ;P
.bin (.cue doesn't matter), .img and .iso are all valid... AS LONG AS THEY ARE MODE2/2352. Not all programs will rip the game correctly. Some will not preserve the CD structure. Well I assume you can already play on emulator; if you can, just patch.

Thanks a lot - such a great improvement to the original experience!

Before I found this patch, I was stuck with playing the game with a browser open to a text copy of a fan translation, it was that intolerable. Great work!

I downloaded this patch a couple days ago and I have to say I'm having a blast! It's surprising how much a new translation can offer new perspective into the game. I'll probably always prefer the original translation (for some reason, 'The Order of the Northern & Southern Sky' just seems so bland to me compared to the Hokuten and Nanten Knights) story wise, but when it comes to the actual grit of the game, spell names and such, this is so much better. Fire 2/3/4 always grated on my nerves. ;)

I just wanted to thank everyone that has worked on this patch. FFT is my favorite game hands down and you've rekindled my interest in it.

What changes to the game does the current FFT: Complete, version 0.5 make, other than the WOTL translation, the new intro and (some of) the story books being unlocked?

Is the list from the first post of the FFT Bug/Glitch Discussions thread (http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=3721.0) up-to-date? (I'm asking because that post hasn't been updated since November 13, 2009)

You should have read the first post. The download for FFT Complete is at the very bottom of it. It's called fftcv50.ppf. Just click the link and it'll start downloading.

So am I to understand that this version does not have translated Sound Novels? I patched my copy of the game and finally managed to get the novels unlocked, but when I go into them, all the text is a hot corrupted mess of Japanese and Latin characters.

Is it currently possible in any way to play the sound novels in English on the actual game?

No, it is not. But it is a longterm project elsewhere. It won't come about any time soon, as all parties involved are chin-deep in other works as well, but we do hope to accomplish it in the end.

I have just completed your War of the Lions Translation hack Cheetah; I am ashamed it took so long to get to. I wanted to remember why I love FFT so much and it did just that. It had been years since I replayed FFT normally and it was a joy all over again, especially with the beautiful War of the Lions translation.
While it may not have the accolades of having all of the extras of the PSP version, it does have the flair of War of the Lions put into its PSX content package. Well done Cheetah! The extra efforts you took to get everything lined up right (the spell quotes, the unit messages, the victory conditions) were noticed and highly appreciated. Your attention to detail skipped no beat.

I'd say there's no shame that several portions of your plan had to be cut because in the end this is a complete translation to War of the Lions. You have inspired me to replay the PSP War of the Lions again with this and reignited my love for the game and Ivalice. So thank you very much Cheetah!

Thank you so much for the praise LD, and I'm sad that it took me so long to notice this message. I will take credit for doing a lot of the organization on this project, but much of the work was done by others who I feel probably don't get appropriate credit. I think I will probably need to generate a true credits for this project. You inspired me to look back over the original goals for this project, and I have to say that I'm pretty satisfied with where we got. My biggest regret is that the sound novels didn't get completed. But let it be known that these are still being worked on in a couple different forms, and v1.0 of FFT Complete is still a real possibility.

Having played TO PSP and getting a better feel for the style, I'd like to rewrite the spell quotes for 1.0.

Well, if there was to be a 1.0, it might be better to just wait on TLW and then throw the WotL quests into it, then use the FFTC other images from shishi as well as the xml to fix the spacing for the intro dialogue, and use that as a base for FFTC 1.0

MUCH more is easily doable now than was when FFTC was in production. And as most people know, I also have 3 of the 4 Sound Novels working in game, and are currently in beta phase, being bugtested/grammar tested and whatnot.

Honestly, if you took the images and such from FFT:C as well as the Tactext stuff, and then redid the offsets for the events (I have a program for this) to match up to TLW, threw in the bonus scenes from TLW, and added the WotLese back in to those scenes, then FFT:C would really be complete.

You'd only be missing DK/OK, and the multiplayer missions at that point.

The only 2 hurdles would be:

1) Getting the last sound novel (Enavia) finished translation (Cheetah, yell at Dunan more!)
2) Someone would need to make an event for Luso to replace the Ashley Riot one I did for TLW. (I would do this as long as I knew the effort was going into the other things I've mentioned above, as I have too much to do to work on another patch aside from the 3 I'm working on)

It's all really straight forward stuff. I already have the attack.out & worldmap built to include all the extra scenes, plus not derp anything out order wise, and it's been consolidated to remove all setup events. We even have the opening and intro movies from WotL working. Most of the wait on TLW is to do with a few small things, like 1 final reorder, fixing the numbers for the bravestory scenes, fixing a few grammar issues in the new character bios, and finishing up NG+.

I mean at that rate, the project would more likely become FFT:C - TLW Edition. However it WOULD fulfill everything this patch originally set out to do, and it really could make it 100% complete aside from the OK/DK stuff (which IIRC Choto was working on) as well as the multiplayer stuff (ya'll on your own here)

Just thought I'd pop in and say Thank You to all the people who contributed to this translation. I've just started Chapter 2 and everything is great. I made a few personal edits to fix some of the errors others have pointed out in this board that weren't yet included in v.50. At first it wouldn't let me, but I went to the "sound test comments" in the quick edit of the latest Tactext and deleted those and then it let me patch it. I haven't noticed any glitches yet, and the translation is really growing on me. I have to say that I can't go back to the original. Thanks Cheetah!

Link is broken. 404 Not found. Is this still the definitive version even though it apparently isn't finished or should I just use the downloaded ISO?

Thanks a lot.

I am so glad this patch was made. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this patch! It makes Final Fantasy Tactics even more fun to play. I think it was definitely worth the effort since the translation in this patch is much better, in my humble opinion, than the vanilla translation. Again, I thank you all very much!

Hello.
I thank you immensely for this patch as I prefer the flowery language of WOTL, but I don't have the opportunity to play it.
