I recently tried to import cloud into an event, 188 to be exact which is the talking scene after the first battle prior to the battle in Gariland.

After many attempts I was finally successful (I replaced cloud with the male squire on x 4 y 3). I tried some of the other characters facing the screen but encountered the below problems. I had a couple of questions about the process as well.

1. If I change a character to Cloud that has special animation i.e. moving of the hand or croutching, it returns to the default character for that frame of animation. Can I fix this easily or do I need to draw a custom sprite of cloud doing what the original character was doing?

2. Same scenario as above except replacing a female character with a male character i.e. female squire with Cloud. When a special animation occurs a girl in a red dress appears and I don't know who she is or why her sprite is being used. Any ideas?

3. I was hoping to add all the FF VII character to the game, does anyone know of any good sprite editing tutorial sites or if FF VII sprites are already available?

Thanks and any help would be appreciated  :)

well I can answer number 1 for you.

You can't fix the problem easily, and I'm pretty sure you would have to draw Cloud doing that motion and paste it over the original one.

If I'm wrong hopefully someone corrects me.

the problem (on number 1) is that we still dont have full access to the eventchr.bin file which contains all the special animations. there are special event instructions that tell the game which event animations to use as well so another thing would be to change that instruction to call on one of clouds specials which still may not look right for the said scene..

so I guess I'll have to wait a little while then until more information is uncovered about the game.

like this:
ENTD1 - CH1
ENTD2 - CH2
ENTD3 - CH3

not at all.

0-7F = 1
80-FF = 2
100-17F = 3
180-1FF = 4
200- 27F = 5 (PSP)

Almost every story events & battles are in 3-4 , and 1-2 contains mostly random battles.

Love what you're seeing? https://supportus.ffhacktics.com/ 💜 it's really appreciated

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)
