Impossible to add new units in PSP FFT?

Can it be done? I was following a tutorial in the forum and then got stuck at the part where you use CD Image to extract the bin files. I extracted it but only got a lousy UMD bin file. If I can edit the bin files that means I cant assign sprites that I add right?
