Good to know, now I can close this tab I left open to eventually remember to look into it (but never did oops).
2
Oh, I should look into that. I might have to dump my save off my cartridge though; I don't think I have a late game save handy.
3
Wow, that is an incredibly old version of mGBA. You might want to update; 0.8.3 just came out.
4
Yes hello I have been summoned.

wait why is this thread pinned? This is literally just a repackaged version of my post in another forum on this same board.

E] Here's a BPS file that should patch it. Haven't tested it though.

On the Vita, you can hold down the PS button when in a PSP game and you can switch between linear and nearest neighbor filtering. That's...clearly not linear, and is doing some smoothing, so idk. But you can probably do something similar on the Vita TV.

As for the other patches...not really, no. You need to install eCFW (not easy/even possible on all firmwares), which I don't think will have access to the PSN version. If it does, you can set things up, but I'm not the right person to ask about that. The forums at wololo.net will be more helpful.

Hmm, I've never tried to install seplugins on a Vita, but you need to have an eCFW at the very least. I think files are usually put into the ePSP using an FTP client? wololo.net is a good place to look this stuff up.

Just a note: I think VBA caps out at 10x speedup, so if you've already got a fast computer this might be irrelevant in VBA.

FFTA/FFTA2 Hacking / FFTA busy loop removal
February 03, 2015, 12:44:31 am
This patch will basically just make FFTA use less CPU in emulators (up to maybe 35%, but it practice probably more like 15%). That's about it. But it's great if you hold down fast forward all the time! I've only tested it against the US release (AGB-AFXE-USA, MD5: cd99cdde3d45554c1b36fbeb8863b7bd), but it might work against other regions as well.

Background: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is not particularly well coded. That's no surprise, because most GBA games have tons of errors. However, one specific grievance that FFTA has is that, while waiting for the current frame to end, it performs a busy loop, perpetually checking if the frame has ended. This patch replaces three instructions to call the Halt syscall, which causes the CPU to stop until something happens. This saves battery on real GBAs, and lets emulators not do as much work, so as a result, emulated games use less CPU time.

I actually had a version for a while that was accidentally running at turbo speeds. I could try and find it again or remake it.

There is a thread on the PPSSPP forums requesting support for this, but it hasn't gotten much activity in a while: http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=6450

I've been thinking about signing up so I can reply to it, but I don't exactly have much to say on the matter :?

Certain parts of the game default to their normal size, I think. Shops/Guild and FMVs among those I believe.

Shop/Guild was a bug, that's been fixed. FMVs weren't stretched in the first place, so those are left as-is. Anything else is likely a bug. I'll take a look at this later.

Just reporting, all fine. Screen size and slowdown (but slowdown might be more noticeable when i get a summoner for area skills :) )

Some of the summoner skills will drop frames even with the slowdown fix sometimes, but that's actually reasonable for some of the effects (and happens on the PS1 version too). It's not slowdown per se, though, because it's dropping frames and not delaying too long between frames.

Thanks for the great patch it's work with my old PSP-2000 with 5.00M33-6 + Prometheus 4 but with my later PSP GO with 6.60 PRO-C FIX & 6.60 ME the FFT WotL freeze at Ivalice Alliance page.....

do you have any way to let me play it with PSP GO?

thanks alot

As far as I know, it works on PSP GO, but you have to put the files on the memory stick; it won't work on the internal flash.

the livepatch and seplugins folders go at the root of the memory stick--in the same folder as the PSP folder, not within the PSP folder itself.

If that still doesn't work, try renaming game.txt to game (if it warns you about changing the extension, then that wasn't the problem).

I have not tested this in conjunction with Remotejoy. I could try doing so, but the problem is probably something I'd have to fix, if it's even a bug in my code and not just some weird interaction.

Vriska is a character from that one webcomic that everyone hates/reads, Homestuck.
