FFT Vanilla NO DIALOG/ NO Cutscene patch?

Started by hihats, May 28, 2017, 11:28:08 pm

hihats

I have done quite a few searches around this forum, to no avail.

Does a vanilla FFT mod exist with most/all the dialogs and cutsceens edited out?
I have played this game dozens of times over the past 10+ years, I really would rather focus on the gameplay versus button mashing through the story.

I just might go through the event editing tutorials and attempt to do it if it has not been done before.

Thanks in advance!

Lookup Xifanies ASMS, she has a few that will help speed up the process, though not outright remove them.

I don't think such a thing has been made, however Xifanie's hack might help you.  Will make button mashing through these scenes MUCH faster:

There was an (unfinished) attempt at this done by VincentCraven early on in FFHacktic's lifespan.  Note that this is a pair of files you add to your game file and not a .ppf you apply, and they would only be compatible with an unmodified copy of the vanilla game.

Hacks like Xifanie's Cross Skip (that Emmy posted) and a few others like the frame-skipper ASM are what you want to use if you're playing a modded copy of the game, however.  As I said, this is only compatible with an unmodified copy of the game.

Love what you're seeing? https://supportus.ffhacktics.com/ 💜 it's really appreciated

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)
<R999> My target market is not FFT mod players
<Raijinili> remember that? it was awful

Glain

Yeah, I was about to post a link to that hack.  I designed it for the express purpose of skipping cutscenes (and more!) with the start button!

hihats

Wow that is exactly what i was looking for! Thank you so much for the patch Glain. Reminds me of Hoshigami: ruining blue earth, it had a start button skip built into the game.
Here i was thinking i should manually edit all the events to remove the text from the game.
Looks like a really elegant patch, with the ability to skip not only the text and cutscenes but summons or meteors even? Awesome.
Just patched a copy of the game, had the most pleasant orbonne ever ;)

Cheers

You're welcome, and glad to hear it!  A lot of games allow cutscenes to be skipped with Start, and that's what I made the patch to do.  And yeah, you can skip summons, meteors, and any other effect.
