Quote from: "Mental_Gear"Anyone excited for FFXIV? I hope they don't make it TOO solo-friendly.

Um....frist we should wait for the XIII to come out before talking about the next one...this will probably take about 4 more year before we see FFXIV...
(I hope this will not be onligne only like the XI...or at less make it free to play  :( )

QuotePersonally, I find Guild Wars to be the best MMMORPG because:
1 - No need for grinding/farming
2 - A real storyline
3 - We can try different builds as we wish (like the reset concept)
4 - Great graphics

No farming? and can reset wen you like?
and ACTUALLY have a story? Looks nice.
But sadly that game you need to paid over time. (if im worng correct me.)
Not that this matter anyway.
I can paid for any onligne game if i wanted to.

But ending up paying 250$ for a game that will never be free even if you paid 500$+ overtime...
Thats the lame thing about paying MMO's. And the special item that can only be buyed by buying points is even worse. I see some people buying 30$ worth of point each WEEK...
In the end , he paid more that 1000$ just to get the special items in game...
The most i will ever paid for a MMO is about 80-100$ nothing more. (Unless thats an VERY good MMO that i did not find yet...)

I'm mentioning FF14 here BECAUSE IT'S AN MMO - and they did say that they will make it more solo-friendly than 11 was.

If you want it to be free to play though...just...don't bother hoping. No chance. The best you could hope for is it using microtransactions instead of monthly fees so you could 'play' a very limited game for free.

SolidSnakeDog: Guild wars and its expansions are one time fee games. After you buy the game and buy the expansions there is no monthly fee.

Only now? After they're working on around their 30th FF (no joke), spawned a cash raker (KH), whored out FF7 and made 'Super Smash Bros FF Edition' (Dissidia)? Wake up, they're just like Micro$oft or Activi$ion - at the end of the day, their only goal is money.

How much do you make every month, by the way (if you don't mind me asking, of course)?

I see! Even better! I will look into it.

Right after Square Enix made an Onligne FF (AKA FF11) I started to hate em.
But now there will make an OTHER onligne and using FF 14 form it? Now i am just pissed. <
Anyway. I don't care about Equare Enix anymore.

(Has the colonel in MGS says)
Square Enix! What have you done??
You ruined the Final fantasy's classic gameplay!
You have created a Final fantasy paradox!

They should just have called FFXI "Final Fantasy Online" and left the numbering to the solo, console games.

Although that would have been nice, XI was in a package of sorts with IX and X.

The producers of IX, X, and XI wanted to make a nostalgic and classical game (IX), a game that took advantage of the then-new PS2's technology (X) and a game that gave its players an internet experience (XI).

So basically, they created these three games to give a certain experience to the players, while not considering the backlash of making XI so different from the others.

Ah, I knew IX was meant to be nostalgic, and X taking advantage of the PS2 (just read the game's description on the back of the box), but I didn't know they already planned for the next one to be online.  But, yeah, didn't really sit well with lots of people.

Edit: Well, FFXI is well made, as most Final Fantasies are, its just..boring.

Well, there's this La Tale, but I heard it's just as slow as Maple Story.

Inb4moralfags:

I wish I had a legit copy of D2: LoD.
I'd sooo play online, but then again, players in official servers are often dicks.

I play a Double Swing Barbarian post 1.10
So ur wid ur rival adn u were fighting den wen he beat u ur holy stone glowed and spoke, it told u "Your soul will unite with my flesh" den u tell ur rival dat but ur rival said "No, that's just an ordinary rock"
THEN WHO WAS STONE?

Most MMOs out there take shitloads of time to level at higher LVs, so take it or leave it

I myself have a Level 113 Ranger (Bowman) in MapleStory
Just cause the Ranger skills were badass (Arrow Rain anyone?)

What the f...

You got to 113? I was just 52 when I quit. Was a Paladin or something.
Jesus. How did you level? Party Quests? Don't tell me you had the patience to grind all the way!

It's a bit different if you have friends though.

MapleStory not an exception

I wanted to go to at least 120 but...it got too laggy and too many spikes so i quit

Crazy shit. Must've been fun.

I got a bunch of friends too but they're focused on leveling. We want to do some adventuring/exploring too but we know that MMORPGs rarely reward that.

Sigh...i wish i had some RL friends playing some kind of MMO at that time.
Guess my best friend in game i had was in Dofus. And an other one good one in MS.
The 2 of em was loyal to the begining to the end. (Till i stopped playing)
I had fun till there was nothing left to do but leveling.

FFXI or DDO are the two best MMOs I have ever played, FFX! was pay-to play and DDO used to be but it's free to play now, other than that though i would have to go with FlyFF followed by probably Fiesta. At the moment though, none of these matter since FFXIV is on its way out soon. ^^
