Oh, and lets talk about old games and wallow in nostalgia while we're at it.

I know there's Symphony of the Night but the guy hacking it won't share?

Anything else?

My all time favorites were SotN and FFT.
FF7, SaGa Frontier, Donkey Kong Country series, Mario World for massive nostalgia.

... and those dungeon games like... Chocobo, Azure Dreams, etc. I really loved PS1.
So ur wid ur rival adn u were fighting den wen he beat u ur holy stone glowed and spoke, it told u "Your soul will unite with my flesh" den u tell ur rival dat but ur rival said "No, that's just an ordinary rock"

SaGa Frontier would make for an awesome base for a hack, so too would the FFT:Advance games (if only because of the racial system already in place). If only there were a toolset for hacking the FFTA games, like we have for FFT in FFTPatcher, then I could finally realize my dream of making SaGa Tactics Frontier!
"Dave?  Are you there?"
"Yeah.  I can't get you through the cell now."
"You have to talk through the bratwurst from now on. I'm sorry. I didn't know it would do that."

The worst thing FFTA did was the horrible story, but second was the implementation of races (judges being third).

Limiting job choice = no.

As long as we're wishing for things we could do ourselves if we weren't so lazy, I'd like a rebalancing of FF6 with a more interactive/less menu filled battle system.

By looking on Youtube you can get a few hints on the hacked games there is. Sometime says to what site to go to hack this particular game.
Worked for me...i did not even know about this site till i looked at Final fantasy 1.3 videos on youtube a few mouths ago.
And the same thing for finding Super mario world hacking site.

====

Wy there even had the idia of puting judges in FFA...and limiting job class to each race? I hate the limits there did...
Foget a law, kill and BANG! Instant game over because you used *Attack and killed someone* and this is not allowed. And some rules really kill the magic users...No Magic Color law. Can't use skills that require MP ect..
Mages was the most affected by this.

Try Romhacking.net there are a lot of rebalances and adjustments to at least a few of these games I think.

Not really for re-balance, but I am in the planning stages of improvement hacks for Castlevania 2, Finial Fantasy, and Super Mario World.

that reminds me, I haven't heard anything on your Megaman Powered Down project for a while, how has that been going?

I'm aware of some hacked roms out there.

Maybe I'm asking for something too specific. I actually wanted a community like Hackticks and a 'deep' hack like 1.3 but then again, not a lot of game are deep enough for that level of editing.

There are quite a few pokemon hacking sites and resources, but the hacks are mainly storyline, there isn't any difficulty on "hard" hacks except if they severely limit your options. I'd wish that Pokemon had a Party Level + X function myself, you can't solo the game with just one overlevelled guy (and a few HM slaves) =) I wouldn't really call it rebalancing, but there are quite a few nice visual / story hacks. You might want to check out the Hacking section of this forum:

This is pretty sweet. I always wish the game was fun like the show.

The lack of interaction in the game made it feel so lonely.

'Wish it was fun'? Man...Pokemon was epic, back in the day. My first game was Pokemon Red. It all went downhill after silver though...

And it's not particularly an old game, nor is it rebalancing, but Guitar Hero PS2 modding was abundant.

It's slow. I think what I'm going to do while I continue to study NES ASM is work on the stage design and graphics. Of course all major work is on hold until I get back from my honey moon.

You'd think after so many games that have included the feature now that they'd have more trainer rematches with pokemon in the 80s.  The Gold and Silver remake only have two trainers that get that high:  Red and Blue.  And that's the 80s... not 100s...  Seriously, what the heck is there left to do other than potentially annoying gimmick battles at the 100s?

Collect berries?
Does Heartgold\SS have that? haha.

I never reached those levels in pokemon..
You'd be bored after beating those high level pokemon..

Yes, they have the apricot things in addition to the new berries.  (New berries won't be on trees.)  But... I imagine it'll be too tedious to be worth it.  Each tree will only yield one a day, and what's-his-name will only make one pokeball a day.

Frankly, I'd like to see this done to Valkyrie Profile.

Well, it appears there is a Party Level +X ASM Hack created, but noone is using it. I'd mess around with Fire Red myself but the hack deletes all the scripts by proxy so it seems like too much work to reinsert them =/

I know there was a rebalance hack for Fire Emblem 7/Blazing Sword being made. They like lowered Raven's stats, made Isadora not a complete waste of space and stuff like that.

I don't think it's finished though. The only other one that I can think of would be Tactics Ogre, but I have no idea how that is coming along, because is has been a good while since I have heard anything on it.
