well, calculators have been dummied now, and COULD be used as the blue mage sprite as well. but I was thinking more along the lines of using the Red mage sprite + Cheetah's female red mage just made blue. tho i guess the hats could be altered as well.

What say you?

I like that sprite, but it seems far more suited to a red mage than a blue. Do blue mages even have a traditional outfit?

make 'em look like Quina from FF9 :D
<JoZ> I'm not Wiz. Even if I were, I wouldn't be narcissistic enough to go under an alt and comment on my own team.

Yeah, Zozma has got the right of it.

Although a blue mage in a blood covered chocokin sprite would be amusing.

yes, tithin they do.

It consist of blue armor with a blue mask(kinda like a masquearade party mask) and a red cloak...not to attractive to some...looks more like he is playing dress up. but the FFTA blue mage wears a fucking turbin...so yea D:

external blue, minor flash of red when the sprite is "moving"

I like the hat, but maybe have a few more feathers to indicate the profession. No point in having a mask, it wouldn't serve much purpose.

yeap, its not like he is a black mage and needs to hide his face. cause the black mages endless void of black under that hat would be enough to eat your soul. face included.

Makes you wonder though. wtf is the blue mage hiding under that hat? :O

Actually Zozma I already have a female blue mage essentially done.

http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/viewtop ... sc&start=0

This was later used as a base for Rofakare or whatever, but the design still holds up. My latest thought for blue mages was to do blindfolds instead of zorro masks. The idea being that since blue mages are using monster skills they must have heightened senses much like the animals they are using the abilities of. So they battle blindfolded and depend on their other sense instead. I just thought it was a good way to destinguish them and have them have a trademark appearance (since blue mages have pretty much looked different in every FF game). So I have the female version of this sprite all done, I am just having trouble doing a blindfold for the portrait. I have a design laid out for the male, but it is unlikely that I will get to that anytime soon.

I love that, but the mask is too.. see through.  A darker hue of blue, on both dress and mask would be well suited I think.

Good thoughts Tithin. I don't think I have a preview up with the blindfold version either, let me see if I can dig that up.

PS: Shit the colors in this preview are so much lighter than what they are in Photoshop for me. My computer that I usually do graphics stuff died on me and I having trouble getting my new setup looking right. So yeah the blue should definitely be at least a tad darker.

sounds like a nice idea. i think the ponytail needs to go tho. a bun like the calculator would suffice. but with balmafula around it would be odd to have generics with the exact same hair.

Nope, Balmafula and Meludia are the bases. Did I spell either of those correctly? Yeah I think a bun would look good Zozma. The only problem though is that the bun on the calc is right near where the blindfold should be on the back of her head. That, plus I am rather a fan of the Blue Mage letting her hair let loose a bit, all natural like.

Update: Here is an idea of what it would look like a Calc's head. Very different colors, and the calc's head is incomplete from several angles.

i prefer that actually. plus letting the hair look like balmafula's would take away from her uniqueness or make it seem as tho we copied too closely. i like this look...

Extend the headband a bit and those would look like crazy engineering goggles.

I approve of any design that includes crazy engineering goggles.
