Title: WotL Slowdown Removal Fix PPF (Last Updated: October 23)
Post by: Eternal on September 18, 2012, 12:45:31 am
Apply a WotL ISO- not CSO- with this PPF file using PPF-o-Matic and it will remove all spell slowdown. Credit goes to Archaemic for the original slowdown fix. Use this if you don't want to mess with files on your PSP, and instead just wish to patch the ISO itself. Enjoy!

USE AN EUR ISO!

Tried it on 5.50 Prome-4. Just like the regular patch, it doesn't work.

Gah, thought I replied to this. My suggestion would be to try a different ISO or different firmware. Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

Alright, I'll try a different ISO first. Maybe converting a CSO to ISO doesn't work.

Edit: Now, does it work on NTSC-U version of the game, or is it PAL exclusive?

Use it on the NTSC-U version.

also not working
6.60 PRO-B9 btw

As I stated above, if it's not working, try a different ISO (make sure it's not a CSO) or try different firmware. If I continue to get reports of it not working, I'll create a new .ppf of it and see if that works.

to much of a hassle to try and find a different iso on the net, and i don't know if its possible to convert the eboot version I have (bought on psn) and get it to work, so I'll just stick with the plugin version which works fine for me

Eternal, have you used the original, unabridged version of the ISO? The one still containing the UPDATE data?
The best thing to do is to make a patch for that version, since it can easily be ripped from the original UMD disc.

This way, everyone will easily understand which version must be used. ;)

Let me know, I'm very interested in this patch, but I cannot try it because my PSP is under repair at the moment (my analog stick broke down...).+
Thanks for making it!

Forgive me here, since I'm not familiar with a lot of PSP talk mumbo-jumbo, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I used a clean ISO, input the hex changes Archaemic gave me, and made a .ppf using that. If you could go a bit more in-depth as to what you mean, I can definitely check it out!

I just registered to let you know your ppf version didn't work on the vita with CFE 6.60 TN-A. However, Archaemic's livepatch version does work.

I think I'll create a new version this week and see if that yields better results for people.

Well, I suppose that with "clean ISO" you mean an ISO directly ripped from the original UMD, right?
That's what I meant... patches should be made using a perfect 1:1 dump of the original UMD.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to try your new patch... provided that I get my PSP back!

Funny you say that, because I'm hoping to get it up today. I'll need a tester to test the new one though, since my PSP's battery is acting funky.

I'll try it out as soon as I can since I have some space on my memory card (had to delete some Dissidia 012 replays, man they take a lot of space :P).

Let me know if this one works or not. If it doesn't, please tell me if you're using a NA or a PAL ISO.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I did some investigating with the old .ppf, and it applied to my clean ISO perfectly fine. The offsets were properly updated and everything, so if this doesn't work, I'm at a total loss.

Applied that second fix to a clean NA ISO. Didn't work, sadly.

Yep, doesn't work on my clean NA either. Won't even bother trying the EU version, 'cause PAL already reduces FPS of the entire game by 10.

Okay, next test. Can one of you download the current version of KO PSP? It has the slowdown fix built into it, so I'd like to see if that causes you guys any errors.

(I ask you to try this, because I did the exact same slowdown fix for KO PSP as I did for this PPF, and nobody's reported errors similar to what you guys have experienced. The biggest error reported for KO PSP is it crashing on certain firmware.)

Yes, KO PSP works as well as the slowdown fix attached to it.

Sorry to keep throwing .ppf files at you guys, but can you see if this one works? I think I'm narrowing down what should and shouldn't work.

You're welcome. And I thank both Archaemic for making this patch and you for making this .ppf. Playing WotL with the slowdown was a huge trainwreck.

Works like a charm on the PAL version too! Thanks, this patch is much easier to install. ;)

@Geralt-kun
The PAL version of FFT plays at the same speed of the American one! The slowdown problem only happened with the old television systems (PAL and NTSC), it doesn't happen on PC, hand-helds or HD TVs... and we Europeans are very happy about this. ;)

This issue comes up a lot, especially since it was made the same way I made KO PSP. Your best bet is to try a different ISO, and if that doesn't work, it's likely your firmware.

maybe you can just put the CRC or MD5 hashes of the known ISO that worked with the slowdown fix. that would save a lot of trouble.

I could not get Mark 2 or Mark 3 to work. My PSP shuts down when I start the game. Here are the checksums for the clean uncompressed ISOs from the retail UMDs. Which ISO are you using to create the patch?

USA
Size: 418873344 bytes
CRC-32: 0d6a3d9f
MD5: 18d1169cefed2d5ed77a599694f2f871
SHA-1: 5120ff66f78cfd31f6e90d8ef4be8200eca563f7

Europe
Size: 418873344 bytes
CRC-32: 0f7ae43c
MD5: 4b97913c0423b879a9321febaeb4892a

Try using the EUR ISO, since that's the one I used to make the patch. I didn't realize it was EUR until recently, however.
Title: Re: WotL Slowdown Removal Fix PPF (Last Updated: October 23)
Post by: inScythe on November 14, 2012, 12:18:48 pm
use the following program to calculate CRC, MD5 or SHA1:

http://www.ov2.eu/programs/rapidcrc-unicode

the one i have is a PSN-rip (original from Sony servers):

Region: USA (418,873,344 bytes)
CRC: BCE7BCA5
MD5: eba780c3bac9504af6205139a8cb7139
SHA1: 6a81ef6273e155af0044e03561e06e98de9565c6
Title: Re: WotL Slowdown Removal Fix PPF (Last Updated: October 23)
Post by: Eternal on November 14, 2012, 12:28:21 pm
CRC: 3C5E4BA6
MD5: 4b8813be82798c000e5bc110ff56c85a

Note that, again, my ISO is an EUR ISO. So if you're attempting to patch the US ISO with the patch, it's not going to work. I'm attempting to locate a decent US ISO to fix this problem, but in the meantime, people will have to use an EUR ISO. (The file name of the ISO totally lied and it wasn't until much later when I opened it in UMDGen that I was able to tell it wasn't US).

This was exactly what I needed, thank you!  It allowed me to patch the ISO for use on the Vita.

Might I have one request though?  Would it be possible to convert the unstretch.live into a .ppf file as well?  The version that worked for me was version 2 of the slowdown fix, if that helps any.

If you can't be tasked to do this, would there be a small chance of you to lead me in the right direction to do it myself?

Again, appreciate the file!

Hi, I've been trying to use your patch on my PS Vita WotL and I've had no sucess so far. I'm a computer newb, can't work through all these different formats... ISO, etc. Could you please give me a step-by-step tutorial on how to apply your patch? I would be most grateful... Can't take these slowdowns anymore.

My apologies if this is beyond what the board likes for replying to topics past their last post, but I'm having trouble with this.

I'm attempting to get this to work on the US version, but am not having any luck. I can get the EUR version to work on an appropriate ISO, but by default I prefer US. Has anyone managed to get that port of it working?

Thanks for the welcome!

That's the one I've been attempting to apply to my US ISOs, but doesn't seem to do anything at all. I'm sure it's not just my ISO, since I've been using them from multiple sources (SElf Rip of the UMD, Self creation of the PSN version, and one acquired through other means).

Hello!  New forum member here.  I would really like to play this game on an emulator (PPSSPP) with the 1.3 patch from insanely derpy and with the slowdown fix.  However, the slowdown fix using LivePatch doesn't work for the emulator, and the slowdown fix ppf doesn't work when patched onto the ISO along with the 1.3 patch (before or after the 1.3 patch is applied), even though I have confirmed the slowdown fix ppf does work fine when patched onto the ISO by itself.

My question is, how can I go about getting the two ppfs to work together?  Or how could I successfully combine the two patches together?

I made a patch for the retail USA UMD. I tested a few battles, and I did not notice any slow down. I tested Gaffgarion and Agrias's sword skills, haste, blizzaga, and some summons.

Your fix is CONFIRMED working with US ISO.  It has been tested in the following environments:

PSP 3000 (CFW 6.35)
PSP 3000 (CFW 6.60)
PPSSPP v.0.9.1 (WINDOWS)

Interestingly your patch maintains multiplayer compatibility with original War of the Lions and has been tested in the following environments.

PSP 3000 w/ Speedfix + PS Vita Original
PSP 3000 w/ Speedfix + PSP 3000 w/ Speedfix
PSP 3000 w/ Speedfix + PSP 3000 Original

I'm really interested in this too. After playing it on the PSP I can't play it without the unstretch patch, but PPSSPP doesn't support seplugins. Not to mention the display scaling on the android version of PPSSPP is terrible.

I don't know how the slowdown patch was converted from livepatch to ppf either, but I would totally love to see whatever arcane science that created it worked on the unstretch fix too.  :)

Quick question: Can the patch be used on multiplayer (Melee, Rendezvous)? Either if I'm the only one who has it or both me and my partner have it? My friend has an spanish patch for the game, can the patch be used on the .iso if it already has the translation patch, or will it overwrite it?

And by the way, tested the patch from the original post on my PSP 3000 with 6.60 PRO-C, and no problems so far, works as advertised.
