Extending maximum number of character slots? [impossible]

So, is it possible to extend the maximum number of character slots for FFT for PSX? I really couldn't find anything in the searches here.

Not likely ever.
The problem is that there's a very limited amount of RAM on the PSX.
The reason they were able to do it on the PSP is that it has a whole crap load more RAM to support the extra character slots.

Interesting. But I would think it isn't a limitation of Ram... Characters should be stored not in RAM but in disk memory.  I would imagine that it is when actually going into battle the heavy data like Sprites, etc gets loaded into the RAM. Character save slots are simply text data (which is really negligible). But then I am could be wrong.

Anyway thanks for the quick responses guys.

Yes, their base data is on the disk, but to keep track of stats, exp, skills, etc. requires RAM and SRAM.
There just isn't enough to work with on the PSX. That is unless some enterprising ASM wizard were to completely rewrite and optimize how RAM & SRAM are handled.

No problem! ^_^
Ask anything any time after you've already looked it up unsuccessfully! =P
