yea so i just got a psp about a month ago for about 15 dollars, so i figured i would by a ton of games and ran across the final fantasy series which i havent played for a few years after my disappointment with ffx-2.  then all this new ff's came out but i thought they all were online play, so i've bought ff, ff-2, ff-4, ff-7 crisis core, fft, and dissidea ff. because i'm just a finatic of the game and i wish i knew more.  long story short i started playn fft then had to start over because i let my machinist die cant remember how to spell the name even thought the game is on right beside me.  but i was wondering could the psp version of fft can be hacked and if so how to i where can i find the simplest instructions and what kinda hacks exist.  and.....i might need a few details on the events and stuff the whole 411.  Glad to be a member also cant wait to see how deep the bunny hole goes....

well see that's the thing i dont know what options are available and what i'm thinking about im not sure about like the sprite thing can i make tidus from ten a character on my game, can i make weapons or what can i do?

Well, depending on which version of the game you want to hack - PSX or PSP - you have a variety of options. The PSP version is a fair bit more limited but if you plan on hacking the PSX version, the sky's pretty much the limit. It becomes a bit of a Catch-22 in that we can't direct you unless you have an idea of what you want to do and if you can't tell us what you want to do without knowing what's possible, this wont' really go anywhere. So feel free to dream out loud, so to speak, and then we'll be able to give you an idea of whether or not what you're thinking of can be done.

Making a Tidus sprite - assuming there isn't one already being worked on somewhere - would certainly be possible given enough time and effort. As for 'making weapons', you might need to elaborate a bit on what you want to do with that. Can you make a new sword with different attack power and status effects on it? Sure. Can you change the graphics of how a weapon looks when a unit swings? Within some boundries, yes. Can you add a wholly new weapon to the game without first removing another? Sadly, no.
