So that's why I suddenly got ten subscribers and jumped in views. I was wondering what was going on there! :V

Incidentally, I think I might start recording those again, after I finally finish up this godforsaken project.

FFT+ / Re: Most useless special unit in FFT: Plus?

Now I'm probably terrible to ask about this (if you've noticed, my LP is War of the Gods, so my party is set up to tank and destroy,) but I find Mustadio to be useless, due to EVERY CLASS EVERY ABILITY, and just his general shittiness. He's outclassed in every way by Beowulf, who has range and swords. Now it might just be my bias, but I goddamn love swords, and when I'm going up against Level 140s after the first Lucavi, I don't have the time or patience to deal with Mustardio's lack of use.

I will admit Dome, I nearly did an acrobatic pirouette off the fucking handle when I realized that Ninja/Chemist couldn't be used to break the game, because I could only throw three bombs. Clever play.

I beat FFTA without negotiation grind on my first playthrough.

It was still simple. Negotiation grind is mostly because I DEMAND RAMZA NOT SUCK

I DEMAND IT

Rundown:

I'm enjoying the whole "I don't know/care about stats" thing. It's entertaining, and I like this edit. However, we've got some srs problems.

Blind is like the best effect EVER in this game. It's pretty much a free, one-turn per enemy concentrate, that lasts FOREVER. I tanked through a good bit of the game (eg: 300-some AP) with just Blackout on two archers - Marche (known as Ramza) and some viera girl who was an assassin.

Game falls into the similar pattern after you do the negotiation grind. Get Cinqueda, do Wanted! (Giza Plains) to pick up Steal Weapon and Steal Armor, and then start making loots. However, the loot tables here are royally fucked. I'm still running into Leather Garb on quest enemies at level 15+. Once I grinded Montblanc from 1 to 11 (took about 10 minutes of a mission), he became useful again, although waaay outshadowed in damage by my Nu Mou and Ramza. A large problem is how shops open -they don't. I'm just past Cheetahs and the fucking store is selling one greatbow (without sniper skills) and that's it. At level 15+, that's not good at all. Fix that up.

Thief is ridiculously overpowered. With Ramza having 3 levels in Soldier, 5 levels in Archer, and 8 levels in thief, his base stats are crazy. 212 WATT/206 DEF/167 MPOW/182 RES/126 SPEED. Literally the only thing meh in that set is his speed, but Viera already outclass speed in every way.

Which brings me to my next point. Nerf the Viera speed. The White mage in Viera can double turn a Bangaa of the same level. This should not be happening in general, but when the mage class is moving before Ramza and his 126 speed, that's a problem. Hell, the only reason I outspeed them is because my Viera started as an assassin.

Eternal knows my grievances with the MP system. 10% is not nearly enough for these purposes.

Holy Blade needs to cost waaay less MP. The reason it costs 32 was because it did 2x damage, and you could bring that up to like 4x with the Justice Badge. However, here it would only be 2x with the Justice Badge, as Holy Blade's only effect is adding blind, but with damage.

That's all for now I suppose. Lates.

He wears a blue cape in every sprite except the concept art. I have no idea why, to be quite honest.

Celdia's Complete Patch / Re: CCP - Battle Logs
July 08, 2011, 08:54:14 pm
Alright, battle log. Elmdor, here we go.

Restarted: 12 Times
Save States: Countless (Ramzor needed to steal on the FIRST try. Other than that, no.)

Pre Battle Set Up:

Battle opened, and Elmdor almost ALWAYS went four spaces forward and cast Flowing Strike on Agrias and the Sentinel (My Ghaele with Champion sideset. Ghaele is fully mastered, Champion has all the Action Commands. And Equip Shield.) When he didn't, I reset. RNG Scumming is NECESSARY if you plan on stealing all of his items. All of them. Gallows (Warlock with all Red Mage Actions) goes next, because of her Running Shoes. She teleports into the corner directly to her left, and casts the Ice elemental Warlock ability, which takes 5 turns to take affect. I then would proceed to wreck Lede and Celia, because they wanted to cast some spell. (They never actually got it off, I'm just that awesome.) Celia tries to cast some spell, and Lede Shadow Stops Ramzor. With Ramzor stopped,  Memories (Lapidary with all Action Speechcrafts) would go. She has teleport, so she ports to the line of Sentinel, Agrias, and Ramzor, and uses Emerald, negating stop and any other silly effects that Celia and Lede could use. Immunize not only negates the effects for the future, but it removes them if you were affected, which is why I love it so damn much. With that negated, it's Ramzor's turn. He proceeds to slam C&L for 240 damage, thanks to Attack Up and having the Holy Avenger equipped. He used Burning Blade, hitting them both, killing Lede. Then, the Ice Warlock spell hits, blasting Celia. Unfortunately, only then does Lede turn into an Ultima Demon, and after Agrias goes (Hitting Lede with Flowing Strike, praying for a frog. Spoiler alert: it doesn't proc.) Celia turns into one as well. Then it's the Ghaele's turn, so he goes and bonks Lede for 180 damage, killing her. Then Elmdor goes, but he does what he always does: Flowing Strike. Thanks to Immunize, nothing procs.

Hits Agrias for 114 damage, though. Thanks to C&Ls newly demised state, Ramza goes once more. He nicks Elmdor's accessory with countless reloads of savestates, and cuts Elmdor's damage down a notch. Then Sentinel bonks Elmy, because I want to be able to oneshot him once i steal all his stuff. This works marvelously, until Elmy decides "Lolaggravate", and Blood Sucks Agrias. Compliments to Cel for making Bloodsuck even more annoying. Undead, Berserk, AND Blood Suck? Ramzor steals his shield, and Sentinel uses Remove Disease to get rid of undead. Elmy proceeds to kill Gallows with a wack to the head, and I ignore her for a bit because i don't need her right then. Sentinel teleports to Elmdor and tries to whack him, and misses. Ramzor goes again, steals his helmet this time around. Sentinel and Ramzor just chilled together, cause they were like total bros. Just one diagonal square across from the other. Ramzor opened his mouth to say something to Sentinel and...

Then Elmdor kills him with a Flowing Strike to the face. I kinda shrieked at that point, because he had killed my main status remover. Fortunately, Memories is next, and she uses Speak Of The Dead to revive both Sentinel and Gallows, who were in the perfect position to proc without hitting either Celia or Lede. Some pointless shit happens (Agrias attacks him cause of Berserk and misses horribly), and then Gallows ports up once more to shoot off a Heal spell, restoring a fuckton of HP. Ramzor's turn, steals his armor. This is the point where Elmy's completely out of MP, so he Blood Sucks Agrias. Again. I just ignore her, it's too much fuckin' work to fix right now. Gallows turn, haste ends, and she readies an Esuna for Agrias. Elm's turn, he tries to smack Sentinel.

Sentinel says "Oh hells no," and Hamedos him in the face. 70ish HP remaining. Memories does more fucking around, teleports out of the way so she doesn't get hit with a Blood Suck.

That would totally blow. Ramzor's turn once more, and he steals Elmdor's sword. Elmy now has nothing, because I stole everything.

Pics, or it didn't happen.

And then it was Gallows turn, and she hit him with an Eldritch Blast to the face.

That was my entire Elmdor 2 fight. It was a huge bitch to steal all his shit, but oh god it is gonna be SO WORTH IT.

I'll go get Xifanie's palette editor. It'll probably make it easier. Not for this sprite, considering I've checked, and it only ports properly to like three spritesheets.

I think it is because I managed to eviscerate the palette with my amazing color coordination abilities.
10
Well, Twin's helped me out more than I will ever admit outside of a court of law, so I'm using his base now.

The palette began getting screwed around ten minutes in, and then I did what you said, and it ended up murdering most of the sprite.
11
Considering I cheated just a bit, I might be able to do it. It'll take me like a month, but the vague bit of spriting expertise I have (RPG Maker Spriting was the coolest thing ever), I'll probably end up being able to either make it or utterly destroy it.

Besides, it is based off another sprite. Head's ripped straight from FFTA2, with mild additions to make it more FFT-esque.

Also, the first Illua large was like 300x550, and was ridiculous.

Leapin' Leptons Batman, I've decided to make this not a living hell on myself!

Edits: Changed waistcoat to Agrias. Also messed with the legs to make them look more natural. Got some new, better looking shoes. Messed with the right arm color to make it not look so stated compared to everything else.

Comparison is below.
12
Balmalfu was the base for like two minutes before I said screw it and abandoned the very idea of having a base.

Give me a minute to increase the size in Inkscape.

EDIT: Done. Attatched.

OH GOD FIRST IS TOO LARGE
13
So, I decided to try my hand at spriting. For a first sprite, I rather like this first bit of Illua.

Crits? I already know that the shoes look horrid, but I couldn't get the look I was going for (Shoes underneath pants).

Base was Balmalfu at first, and then I just kind of ditched it. I do not look forward to trying to make the rest of these sprites without a guide.

Perhaps "Official Sprite Discussion Thread"?

That's what seems to go on here most of the time anyways.

Hell, Sprite Help Thread would work just as well, considering it's a toss-up between "LERN2SPRITE" and "Generic Discussion".

Honestly, I'd love to sprite if I could muster up the bloody energy to do it. Considering my depraved sleep hours, I'll probably start spriting sometime next week.

War of the Lions Hacking / Re: Sprite Editing

I am intrigued by this thing that you have suggested.

I could look for them, but I finally got everything to work perfectly, and balanced my game. Ramza's Squire class is now unique, Cloud got a damn sweet buff, and I have Beatrix as a starting character.

I could not be any happier.

Also, I managed to break my copy of FFTPatcher. Yes, it still patches, but the instant it begins it shouts "LOLERROR" and rants about Value not being able to go over 103. I looked at the details, it appears my FFTPatcher likes to Turn It Up To Eleven, and Patch to 103%.

And fixed it. It appears that the problem was that I was patching the ISO before I re-inserted the rebuilt fftpack.bin.

That was a dumb move on my part and I feel dumb for posting about it.

Help! / Re: UNIT.BIN
June 30, 2011, 10:16:21 pm
Here's how to do it, in a few simple steps:

Step 1: Open up UMDGen.

Step 2: Find your FFT: WoTL ISO, and open that in UMDGen.

Step 3: Go to "USRDir" (For the US Version), and right-click and extract fftpack.bin.

Step 4: Create a folder somewhere. Name it whatever, you'll need it soon.

Step 5: After that, open up FFTPatcher. Click on the "PSP" tab then "Utilities".

Step 6: Click "Extract fftpack.bin". Choose the folder you created as the extraction point.

Step 7: Open up FFTEVGRP, if you already have your sprites inserted and such. If not, use Shishi's Sprite Editor to insert the sprites.

Step 8: Use these guides if you're not sure how to insert custom sprites/create custom characters.

Step 9: Once you get the two sprites necessary ([NAME]F.bmp and [NAME]P.bmp), open up FFTEVGRP, and load up the UNIT.BIN and WLDFACE.BIN files, located in your handy folder under "EVENT".

Step 10: After you finish inserting the sprites, save UNIT.BIN, WLDFACE.BIN, and WLDFACE4.BIN over in the EVENT part of your handy folder.

Step 11: Open FFTPatcher again, if you closed it. Back to "PSP", then to "Utilities" and select "Rebuild fftpack.bin". Put it somewhere you can find it easily, but in a different location then the original fftpack.bin you extracted.

Step 12: Almost done now! Open UMDGen again, open your ISO file, back to "USRDir" (Again, for the US Version.), and delete the fftpack.bin in the ISO. Then, insert your fftpack.bin.

Step 13: Done. You have inserted your own custom UNIT.BIN and WLDFACE.BIN files! Congratulations!

That's usually how it's done.

WoTL on an ISO. I'm using Virtuous Flame's CFW 6.35.

From what I've searched, I think it has to do with Battle.BIN. I just repacked my FFTPack for the fourth time, and now I have to go fix up multiple skills.

God dammit Ramza, Cross Slash should not do 150 damage for free.

Alright, I have a problem. No, it's not with FFTacText, FFTPatcher, or Shishi. Hell, I've done all that, and it looks quite nice. I've got the Custom classes, abilities, names, and all that. I have a different problem. I patched both WLDFACE.bin and UNIT.bin, but the characters still look like their base sprites in the menu and Battle screen. I can't show screenshots, mostly because I'm using CFW and an iso to play, but how do I fix the sprite appearance on the menu screen?
