For now, though, I suggest you continue repairing bugs and tweaking the game to ensure its playability at any rate.  A fancy new character redesign, cross-the-board or just for Generic characters, does not sound like what Tactics Plus was meant to do.  It was a balance/hard-type patch that retained the flavor of the original game.  And so far at least, it's been doing just that.

This.

@Barren: Your Lancer was 100 JP over the cap, so I replaced his Level Jump 6 with Level Jump 5.

@Reks: You had three bards with Magic Song, so I removed Magic Song from the one with White Magic secondary.

Barren vs. iamBQB

Reks vs. Angelus

Anyone else need teams tested? Let me know.  :)

I've got some free time to run exhibitions again, so I don't mind doing them.

Well, I've always been a big Rafa and Malak user (and Reis, too). Mainly for DD runs, but I use them for some storyline fights, too.

Quote from: Ciato on May 29, 2012, 11:49:12 amUSB2 is a good example there; half of my party died before I moved and then I killed the enemies with Fireball in like two turns. The Loremaster is definitely the MVP; I love the conceit of the class. I'm using a Ghaele, a Loremaster, a Gunspinner, a Brawler (because who doesn't love Sabin?), and a Mystic Knight. The high unlock prereqs were definitely worth getting for these classes. Brawler feels like the worst and it's the easy one to unlock which is fair. Also of note are the two people with Champion/Valiance secondary; it's a nice revival secondary. My level is 26-30.

Definetly agree that Loremaster is very very strong. Fireball/Ice Storm/Meteor just destroys everything. Torero is also pretty strong, especially w/Terminar. Personally, I'm using Ramza as a Vanquisher/Blitz, Loremaster/Divine Magic secondary, Torero/Pillage secondary, Alchemist/Strategy secondary, and Agrias as a Holy Knight/Mysticism secondary. I haven't had to change the Loremaster since Chapter 1, (and the Torero ever since learning Terminar), but everyone else I'm changing at times.

Just got Rafa and Malak myself. Rafa - just wow, she might just replace the healing duties of my Loremaster. Wild Healing is really fun to use. Haven't done any battles with Malak yet, though.

After milling through FFT+'s DD for a good while, I decided to try this patch.

And I love it!

It's been a total blast. Seriously, I'm loving all of the changes to the classes and items and etc. It's like playing an entirely different game. At some points, I had a hard time deciding what classes to use for some of the story battles, because they're all good in one way or another. But I, like others here, was also stuck at Golgorand for a little while (damn demagogues), but I managed to beat it eventually. My guys are kinda powerlevelled, though (they're all around 35-36), and I'm at the end of Chapter 2. Is that bad?

Got a question though, and I don't know if it's been already answered, but when do Phantom Vials show up in shops? I've been meaning to try one of my generics as a Tactician. I'm guessing they show up in Chapter 3?

tl;dr version: CCP is quickly turning into one of my favorite patches.  :)

EDIT: Answered my own question, heh.

Oh, and one more thing - is it me, or is Terminar stupidly OP for Chapter 3? Went into UBS and 4/5 of my team got dropped by two Terminars before I could even move.

Putting DD run on hold until next patch comes out (hopefully with fixed existing fights and more DD fights).

See you guys next season.  :|

Wow, Horror is both annoying as hell and fun at the same time. Easily my favorite floor in the DD in this patch! Hard fights all around.

Question though: Is there supposed to be a Sinogue in the Impure King + 3 Apandas fight? Seems odd that there are Sinogues in the other three, but not in this one. Working as intended?

And that's what happens when you make a team in five minutes and not test it at all. Very one sided match; not surprised of the outcome. To be honest - this was expected. Maybe I'll have a shot in the underworld, though. Not a single Kagesougi, though? Meh.

Really close match. If Leif had gotten a timely Berserk hit or two I think that he would have taken game 1.

Weird match... Lots of charm and sleep shenanigans.

Otabo, I'm coming for you. :D

Yeah, and it'll be a quick win for you. Two Holy users = GG. I'm not expecting much.

Thousands of HP can still be wilted away with the proper ability.  However, we're looking at a total face-melting experience if monsters like Skeletons--with oppressive health stats as they are now--suddenly get over thousands of health with which to trigger their favorite reaction ability or cast their favorite magic.

Status will still shut that down, though. Now if ???? skeletons were immune to status (stop and don't act, in particular) on the other hand, then that would be a problem.

QuoteIf I wanted to make a suggestion, I'd recommend changing the emphasis of the Summoner to one where you can deal status effects across the field.  It'd be expensive and tricky to pull off, but that's where Precision or Half MP come into play.

I disagree. We already have Skeletons and Squids that do that. Skeletons especially - accurate to very accurate (at least from my observations) sleep across the entire map? Too strong. Granted you need Monster skill equipped, but still. Squids' slow across the map, although isn't guaranteed, can still be strong if lucky with the slow procs.

Doing that would make Oracle & probably Sage useless.

Yeah, I had to do those battles quite a few times to boost my Elixir stock (I'd been saving them all game and haven't used a single one) just for DD, because I knew for a fact that'd I'd be using them down there.

Sounds promising. Hopefully, you'll add more enemy units to those few fights I mentioned above, as well.

Ok, I've been hanging around in the DD for a good amount of time now, and I thought I would share my opinions of it as it is currently. Overall, it's good, it's just that some of the battles down there need to be buffed. I suppose I should go floor by floor.

NOGIAS

Two good battles here to introduce the DD with just the right amount of difficulty. This floor is just fine as it is.

TERMINATE

Can't say anything here because it's bugged. That Cleric + Soldier fight could be good if done right Hope there will be more of them.

DELTA

Earth Squad is perfect as it is now, but something needs to be done with that Holy Knight battle, though. He needs actual ???? stats, status immunity, or more enemy units on his team or something. Right now, he doesn't even deserve to be in the DD, he's a complete pushover - especially for being on the third floor. He definetly needs to be buffed or something to help him; you could probably send only one unit in and be able to beat him with ease.

VALKYRIES

There is one thing about this floor, and that is with the two battles with Olan and the Onion Knights - in one of them, they start off facing your team like in other battles in the game, and in the other, they start facing away from your team. The Olan in the former is definetly more aggressive than the one in the latter, too. Just found that to be a bit weird. Could use a slight buff, too - perhaps more Onion Knights? Or Olan with real zodiac stats maybe? Dragons themselves are fine as they are. Red Mage, IMO, needs Maintenance, unless allowing players to get a second Genji Gauntlet was intended.

MLAPAN

One fight is bugged. The other is okay; it has potential, but could be harder. Engineer should be a boss unit or something to make him stand out from the other units, right now, he might as well be just like one of the generic archers.

TIGER

The concept of this floor being "the undead floor", is nice. Ghosts definetly need to be buffed and need more units on their team. Fell Knights are fine as they are, IMO. That undead Algus though, yeesh. He's annoying. But fine as is.

BRIDGE
Squires & Bombs fight: Bombs are fine as they are currently, probably could add an Explosive or two, though - two bombs and a grenade; just doesn't seem complete without an Explosive to go along with them. Might as well have the whole family. The squires, however, need some help. They don't have any reaction abilities, and feel like just plain old generic units. Perhaps they should get Teleport 2 like the bombs have? That would allow the Bombs to be even more deadly with their usage of monster skills. They just need something to help them out.

Morbols: Teleport 2 Morbols are nasty. But perfect as it is currently.

VOYAGE

I'll admit, the monks are pretty damn hard. For where it is located in the DD, this battle is at a great level of difficulty. Even fully prepared teams can lose to this one. Some of the fights on the higher floors could stand to be something like this one. Are there any other fights on this floor, though? Seems this one is the only one I could get.

HORROR

Lives up to its name. Perfectly fine as it is now, IMHO. In fact, I've had more resets here (and in Voyage) than any other floor so far.

END

Not there yet, but I'm sure to be surprised to see what's lurking in here (other than Elidibs, of course).

DD as a whole, is at a good spot, it's just that some of the battles need tweaking to have a bit more difficulty, at least to match up to some of the other battles in DD.

1.3 was good until the Onion Knight patch, then it just started getting ridiculous, IMO. Main reason why I stopped playing it.

QuoteAnother thing about Ghost-Type enemies.  I noticed the typical damage for a Wind Soul (Bone Snatch) is 250 (50*5) at Lv99, where my roster is now, but it deals 330, or 25% extra, against a Gust.  I'm not sure how to take this.  Either the Ghost series of monsters has hidden elemental weaknesses or Wind Soul deals extra damage.

Could it be that floating monsters weak vs. Wind thing going on? I had the same thing happen with Rafa and Diamond Sword vs. ghosts recently.

Submitted a team. Probably will get knocked out first round considering I only tested it against 1 team.

I haven't tested mine at all. XD
