Oh no the Viking wasn't set to type two! That's why the arms are moving like that.

Also looks like R999 f'd up on the casting frames on the female Rogue.

Also Demetrius really does look wierd in game with all that hair being static.

Yeah, I fixed the Viking already. Not sure what can be done about the female Rogue and Demetrius, though.

I can fix the Rogue for you sometime; It's just 1 frame.
Killer Avatar Wiz...The twin has done well.

Just started playing, and I am seeing kinda like brown shadows of old sprites in male viking(lancer), and female sentinel(knight).
Also I extent the ISO.

^^My fail :D

Well I invited the first brigade that I saw, and she didn't have sentinel level 3?, but had sniper job unlocked and stuff.
Also when werewolfs die, they are still standing after.

Edit: more to that Invited thing, it's not only invited, it's every single one of new units that you get(not counting guests).
Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways Battle Logs

Guests (except Delita, due to hardcoding) won't join your party until they permanently join. Also, yeah, Werewolf sprites are glitchy for some reason. I'll have the spriters look into it. :P

Note that Invite won't work on enemy-only generic jobs (such as Commoner, Nomad, and Fencer) and units you do invite will for some reason be glitchy with skills learnt and jobs obtained. Not sure why, honestly. =\

Yeah, but that seems to be with every guy that joinds(Rad joined level 4 elementalist and had that and level 1 freelancer unlocked.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure why. It should have every job UP TO that job unlocked, but for some reason doesn't. Not sure what to fix, since I'm not sure what's causing it.

Thanks for the recording! Be sure to pick up the updated version in the other topic. It has some bug fixes.

Also, when you patch the update, try patching it without extending it with Shishi or anything. I want to see if that fixes the sprite issues. Thanks!

You're best using the update ASAP since without it, you can't get Magicite and thus, the Avatar job is useless. The update fixes that bug and a few others.

This is my playlist for FFT: Parted Ways, I'll be posting more vids on Eternal's great patch at least every other day so stay tuned

It'll also cover any glitches or bugs I may come across because it is still in the BETA stages, but nonetheless this patch is still very enjoyable!

I encourage anyone who wants a new type of challenge besides 1.3 or vanilla to play this :) Enjoy

(Eternal, feel free to slap me on the back of the head if I haven't said anything by Tuesday afternoon.)

If that encounter is Algus, then I'm guessing the contract one is Gafgarion. Hurray.

Also, for some reason, the words "Tonberry Princess" are making me think of Xena.

Doink-doink-doink-da-doink-da-doink-doink. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dF3VTOcbuo)

The contract one is Gafgarion and Dycedarg teaming up. :D

Tonberry Princess is 9 assorted Tonberries with Ovelia leading them.

(Curses, I think I screwed up Xena's intro. I usually have a better ear then that....)

I really shouldn't be up at this time, but given that I'll likely have to stay awake now and then walk like 10+ miles later, today is clearly a day wherein much work must be done. Speaking of which, according to Dome, spamming is apparently work, so....

Ack, spoilers!

More seriously, that makes sense, though. I'm sure Dycedarg is a manipulative/magnificent enough bastard that he'd insert in a "I own your soul just in case I merge with a demonic entity" clause on a contract just in case. In invisible ink. Poor Gafgarion.

I expected as much for Tonberry Princess given the name and how obviously knife-crazy Ovelia was anyway if the ending was any indication. It's always the quiet ones.

Still, it was amusing to imagine a Tonberry flipping over people while ululating and Chef's Knifing them in the back.

Anyway, I'll let this thread get back to actually being about logs for people who have actually played the battles in it.

Okay here is the next part. I apologize in advance for my rant Eternal, it is a pep peeve of mine.

I feel like things start getting a little cooler here, new monsters for the win. However, I'm also beginning to get concerned about the difficulty. Basically the difficulty of PW becomes my main focus for a bit.

I'm not sure why but my Youtube account got upgraded or something so now I can upload videos even longer than 15 minutes. To celebrate here is an epic 25 minute video for Miluda I. The low level challenge continues.

PS: Why would Youtube be uploading my commentary but not the game sound? I'm checking a few of my vids and they are correct on my harddrive but not on Youtube.

Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways Battle Logs
Post by: Cheetah on August 28, 2011, 02:15:53 pm
Back from vacation, but there still might be a small lag in videos because I need to find a chance to do some more recording. Despite the fact that I can now record like epically long videos I think I'm still going to try and fit individual vids in a 15 minute time. Just makes everything more watchable and makes for a steady release schedule.

I sadly wasted a lot of quality video recording time today trying to get part 10 of this video series uploaded correctly. I had to try three different uploads and formats before I could even just manage to get the game audio and my commentary to upload correctly. Note that the audio is 100% correct in the original videos, but Youtube is missing the multiple channels of audio some how and messing up my vids. I apologize to those who already watched this without the commentary, the current version now includes it correctly. Please let me know if there are any more audio issues with the vids. Does anyone have any advice on how to get Youtube to detect the multiple tracks?

Part 11:

I now have a successful, if time consuming, method of getting the sound working with my youtube uploads. I recorded quite a few videos today so I should have some regular release again for a while. Sadly it doesn't appear that I will be able to use the latest version of PW. I will keep testing difficulty, and when things start becoming too hard with my starting team I will probably start over with the latest version.

Can't record my gameplay at this particular PC unfortunately. I'm currently at the Riovanes battle string, and Velius still seems to be That One Boss. Definitely enjoying the class changes though.
Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways Battle Logs
Post by: Eternal on September 23, 2011, 07:02:38 am
The difficulty in that particular fight comes from the Behemoths. Try Frogging/Disabling/Berserking them to make them unable to use their very powerful skills. They'll hit hard when Berserk'd, but you won't be taking AoE damage, and you can dodge their attacks. For Belias himself, using a Flame Shield or Yang Armor is a good choice. Glad to hear you're enjoying it! :D
Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways Battle Logs
Post by: obsidiandawn on September 24, 2011, 03:02:38 am
Yeah I had to change my Tactics, pun intended, to bust through it. I'd been building Ramza as my lightning bruiser, with Attack Boost, Vehemence, and Doublehand with the Blood Sword to keep his HP up. It completely stomped until I got to that fight. I ended up Petrifying all of the Behemoths, with my party all wearing items to keep Velius from throwing Don't Act on me, and then it was a cakewalk.

Did the battle on Riovanes Roof change? Elmdore doesn't have a Muramasa on him, but it said that was a stealable weapon in the PW thread.

I was going to comment on the crossdressing Freelancers in Gariland, but I see you're already going to take care of that. It's still funny nonetheless.

It's pretty late in the game, what with PW 2.0 in the works, but I thought I'd post my impressions of PW 1.0 as I work my way through it!

Gariland - Poisonous clothes?

Having not read anything about PW prior to starting, this is obviously the point where I discovered that I'd better get used to being poor for the forseeable future

Mandalia - Didn't really have much difficulty here; Freelancer seems nifty (I like First Aid) and Alchemist is about what I was expecting.

Sweegy - My reaction to Gerard = OH COOL!  However I was a little dismayed to see the Lamias (argh CCP) and kinda had an "Oh s***" reaction to the Werewolves.  Ended up Taming one of them, so now I gots a Werewolf of my own.

Dorter - By this time I'd opened up Sentinel on a couple of my generics so I put them to good use here; this battle didn't give me too much trouble though it was slightly time-consuming.

Sand Rats - I basically blocked them all in the house and sloooowly whittled them down with Bio/Poison and Algus taking potshots from the top of the walls.  Not being able to take the Time Harp off of one of the female Freelancers made me sad, though.

General Impressions
You've managed to make Yellow Chocobos even *more* annoying, somehow.  *slow clap*
Maybe I'm just bad, but it seems like early battles involve a lot of sandbagging and playing super defensively.
Good job on making Freelancers actually have some useful skills compared to their vanilla counterparts!
I always liked the Alchemist/Chemist but with money and items in short supply, I'm not sure that I'll be using them much.
Sentinels are really really cool so far and I could see them being useful all the way to the end.
Scholars are nice, but I've always been a fan of mages; Poison is actually useful for a change!
Good job in general on making buffing and debuffing actually matter!

I've opened the Devout, Magus, Brigand, Shinobi, Berserker, Barbarian, and Sniper classes but I've not really had a chance to explore them in-depth yet.

Post by: Eternal on October 16, 2013, 03:43:48 pm
PW 1.0 is so unbalanced, haha. But yeah, I definitely designed PW 1.0 to be focused on buffs/debuffs and playing defensively.

Which is funny, because the only thing I did to Poison was made it last longer and more accurate. :v
Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways Battle Logs
Post by: Lady Ladile on October 16, 2013, 06:03:45 pm
Well, when you're playing defensively, Poison seems to be a good way to whittle the enemy down until you can reliably take him out.  In vanilla, Poison was such a booger to land that it wasn't worth the effort  :)
Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways Battle Logs
Post by: Lady Ladile on October 29, 2013, 10:34:22 pm
I've been busy, but I've managed to make it to the beginning of Chapter 2!

Up until Ft. Zeakden, I hadn't really had very much trouble with any of the other fights.  I was able to clear the Thieves Fort, Lenalia Plateau, and the Windmill Shed all within one or two attempts, mainly by playing defensively and letting the enemies come to me.  Ft. Zeakden wasn't really *hard* so much as really really irritating since I wanted to steal Algus' goodies before dispatching him.  After probably 5 or 6 tries, I finally won by luring him on top of the fort and blocking him in in order to steal his stuff.  I had one character with First Aid and another with Esuna to clear any instances of Berserk or Disable that he happened to hit anyone with; once I had taken what I wanted, I simply beat him down while his buddies were stuck on the ground and helpless to intervene.

General Impressions
Sentinels are still pretty dang awesome.
Poison continues to be useful.
Holy crap there's a lot of equipment options.
Still digging the emphasis on buffs and debuffs.
