I get this every now and then when I try and use Shishi's just after closing my iso, or if I forget it's still running. Do you have the iso being used with some other program?

Help! / Re: Story battle with the patcher ...
May 08, 2012, 07:56:09 pm
Increase the level of their job, that should give them access to more of their skills. To do this, check out the ENTD of the battle you want to work on and go down the the Jobs Unlocked tab, the number to the right dictates what that job level is, so just increase that.

Another roundabout way is to reduce the JP costs of the skills you want them to use.

Spriting / In-battle Weapon Sprite Finder
May 07, 2012, 09:32:21 pm
So there's a pretty clear listing of the menu icons for equipment, but as far as I can tell there's nothing for the actual sprites that show up in weapon animations. Until now! This is still a little rough, but I'll explain it as best I can.

This is intended as a guide to recoloring battle weapon sprites to match their menu icons. This list was compiled using the WEP1 sprite sheet from shishis. To the best of my knowledge the first palette line determines the colors of the swing animation. The second and third line mystify me for the most part, I'm not sure what they do but they may be connected to a few anomalies I found while cataloging everything. Now to the meat of the list!

Replacing the palette will recolor all the items in each list, this also applies to items that have been altered to be other weapon types.

The FS Bag, Monster Dict, and Holy Lance are the only items that come out kind of weird. They seemed to take part of their coloring from a separate palette for reasons I can not fathom. If you find any inconsistencies let me know and I'll fix this up.

To make it run as that use 160019004300

1600 is the Defeat All Enemies condition
190043 is run Event 0043
Oooh awesome, I'll give this a try.

Edit: That worked like a charm. That's fantastic.
I'll keep the Olan scene in mind once I've learned more.
7
Yeah that's it. I mean I'd have tried something similar but I didn't see any random encounters to use as an example in the battle conditions editor.
8
I see. That makes sense.
Would it be simpler to just remove the conditions instead of her death being an instant game over? Sort of a "defeat all enemies, by the way you have a guest too" that sometimes show up in random encounters.
9
Well I'm just concerned with getting the condition itself to work for now. I'm really just trying to take baby steps and learn how to do this. I figure I can use the two or three lines surrounding her death around into what I need it to be so I'm not to worried about that.

Help! / Victory Conditions Editing - Save Miluda!
April 22, 2012, 12:44:24 pm
So to put it basically as possible I'm trying to change the victory condition on Miludas second battle to be Save Miluda instead of beating her. Using the battle conditions editor has led to some amusing outcomes. After reading the tutorial and using my limited understanding I used the editor to change 06008500000019004300 to 05008500000019004300 under the belief that Miluda living through the fight would meet the conditions. However since the battle began with Miluda being alive it was an instant victory instead. I didn't experiment if starting her off dead and then reviving her would postpone the auto-victory.

I then tried the victory conditions for the very first battle and it ended with what Ramza says right after that, then it warped me back to Magic City Gariland.

I also tried using a fight that would be similar, where you first save Mustadio which lead to the conversation you have with him immediately after the fight.

I'm not sure where to take this from here.
11
Good point. I hadn't thought about all of that. Its intended use is more situational than anything. Considering the status equipment I'll change what a lot of those items do in my own patch to make it less insane. I've also made magic charge times really short so the elemental avoidance hadn't occured to me.
12
I'd like to be able to use Equip Change without it eating up turns to add a little more flexibility to some characters.
I did see this mentioned before but I don't know if it ever came into fruition.

Edit: Rather than making another topic I figured I'd just use this. It'd be great if we could access the fur shop from the start of the game.
13
That Zodiac compatibility hack is exactly what I was looking for. I'll try this out after I get some sleep.

Oh hey this looks pretty nice in game. I was kind of worried about the purple but nevermind that. I think darkening the boots and gloves is good too.

Help! / FFTPatcher's ability names
April 19, 2012, 06:38:17 am
Is there a version of FFTPatcher that uses the ability names of the original game instead of WotL? Or possibly some way I could just input it myself? It's daunting when I have to go comparing ability names all the time just to be sure I'm doing things right.

It's probably fine if it looks right. They wont stick out much if the coloration isn't dark enough. If you're dead set on the eye thing you could probably do something with the portrait without sacrificing any measure of gestalt in game. I'm glad I could help a little.
