I so wish it was possible to summon a unit to the battle field!
I like the Controller of the Undead idea.

Throwing out ideas here:
Perhaps a spell like this is possible? If the target is critical it can turn them undead and charm them?
An Invite Undead or Charm Undead seems like a necessity.

In addition to Undead buffs, maybe there could be a very decent Undead only heal as well.
A Turn Undead spell would be cool as well and work for a kinda cool healing combo. You turn the unit Undead then on the next turn cast the Heal Undead spell, healing a lot of damage but taking two turns to perform, and making conventional heals on the target do the opposite. It would kinda make the Necro an unholy healer. Perhaps give some of your healing classes a Cure Undeath spell to counter this.

Nice ideas, a heal undead spell would work, but it would actually have to be a dark damage spell.

Thats why i gave the necromancer soem dark damage, to heal his undead allies and manage to damage the enemy.

Undead charm is already included, and you can use zombify from the necro skillset to turn an enemy/ally undead and proced to heal them with the dark spells

actually, if you set the death formula to cancel undead, you have a spell that heals the undead and also is not capable of dealing damage, call it "Vigor Mortis" or something catchy like that.
"Dave?  Are you there?"
"Yeah.  I can't get you through the cell now."
"You have to talk through the bratwurst from now on. I'm sorry. I didn't know it would do that."

With a little touching up... Well, anyway, I made a portrait, but it could use some work. I need to add some more style to it... but this is based on that picture you put in smash's thread without all the fancyness =P

I used Olan as a sprite base if you wanted to know =P

...you couldn't make him look, well more Lich-Style? Rotten, old, thin, skeletal ... something like that. I always wanted to play a Lich as a party member :)

you don't think i'd be weird for him to keep dying/coming back to life every time the unit changes jobs?

Yeah, unless you can add a permanent status effect the way the main character has permanent immunity to invite no matter what the job (at least, I think he does), then having a lich character doesn't make all that much sense.  A necromancer that is still alive, sure.  An undead lich, not so much.  Eh, an FFV remake did it though...
