The maps have been organised into three categories: small maps, medium maps, and large maps.  Map size is determined by how large the map is *and* how far away the teams start from one another.  A good chunk of the maps have been edited in some way, courtesy of WKW (White Knight Wiegraf).

FFT Arena / 1.40 Spreadsheets for Testers

This is mostly for those that will be testing 1.40.  Refer to the following link for colour-coded changes: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=11382.0.  Everything is subject to change prior to the release of the patch.


- Elemental skills will be more widespread, as maps that offer only one or two different Elemental skill panel types will be increased to 3+ Elemental skill panel types (I'm talkin' about you, snowy maps).

- "Old" Oil is being reintroduced; that is, Oil will have its function changed to doubling all elemental damage on the afflicted (will still expire after elemental damage is taken).

- Silence has been removed, and things were balanced accordingly.  It simply has no place in Arena.

- Speed alteration skills, such as Quickening or Slow Dance, have been either removed from the game, or had their Speed aleration properties changed.  Now, the only way to modify a unit's Speed value is by giving them equipment that does just that.

- The Jump skillset formula's CT calculation has been changed to: 21 / Jump.
3 Jump = 7 CT
4 Jump = 6 CT
5 Jump = 5 CT
6 Jump = 4 CT
7 Jump = 3 CT (the cap)

- The maps that are considered broken in some way are in the process of being tweaked.  Not all changes may be implemented for 1.4, but at least the starting position changes and minor edits will be.

- There are two new statuses: MP Poison and MP Regen.  These are their "WIP" names, and will most-likely be changed in the future.  Check-out the statuses spreadsheet for more information!

Anything in blue is a new value, and is considered to be a buff.
Anything in red is a new value, and is considered to be a nerf.

- 007 Inside of Riovanes Castle: Flatten out the upper portion and remove the torches

- 077 Zigolis Swamp: Change the "poison marsh" property to "marsh"/"swamp" to remove its HP Poison property
- 081 Grog Hill: Have the teams start together on either side on the highest elevation part of the map
- 082 Bed Desert: Remove the structure beside the 1 panel bottleneck where the ruins are; remove the ruins/boxes/stairs from where the one team starts
- 083 Zirekile Falls: Duplicate the bridge and place the duplicate side-by-side the original (becomes 2 panels in width)
- 093 Broken Down Shed-Wooden Building: Remove the stairs, and raise the elevation of that side of the map to be the same as the rest; have one team start in the back portion of where the stairs used to be
- 097 Inside Castle Gate in Lesalia: The terrain will be "labeled" so the blue targeting panels will make sense; some inner "walls" will be built in-front of the gate to prevent the units from getting back there
- 098 Outside Castle Gate in Lesalia: Cut out the grass areas on the side, and make on top of the gate in accessable
- 104 Beoulve Residence: Remove the bed, and widen the bottom-right portion by 1x2 panels
- 107 NOGIAS: Flatten the highest elevation area and have the teams start together on either side
- 111 MLAPAN: Scale down the high elevation part of the map to match the progressive elevation of the hill on the one side
- 114 END: Reworked - it's disc-shaped with lava in the center; teams start on either side of the disc
- 115 Banished Fort: Raise the flat part of where the one team starts (near the fort) and turn it into stairs to match the stairs on the other side; chop the bottleneck side of the map off (where the ramp is)

The idea to create a separate discussion thread for 1.4 was thought-up by some regulars during CT5's latest stream.  I've rummaged through the balance discussion thread from page 78 onward (October 15th 2014 +) and compiled every relevant balance suggestion.

This tool, created by Xifanie, allows for you to make teams and setup matches between different teams already saved in the tool itself, or teams you choose to import.  It also gives you guidelines to follow, such as for staying below the JP cap, not using more than two types of items / skills, etc.

- Female Mystic Knights must be put as "F Mystic Knight", and their skillset as "F Spellblade".

- IMPORTED UNITS THAT ARE FEMALE MYSTIC KNIGHT / FEMALE UNIT WITH SPELLBLADE MUST HAVE THEIR SKILLS REINPUT!

- Microsoft Excel is required in order to use this tool.  I use an unregistered version of Microsoft Excel 2010, and everything in the MCG works fine.

- Make sure to enable usage, content, and macros, which usually pops-up near the top of the window if they are for whichever reason disabled.

- If you're experiencing a "run-time 1004" error, unprotect your sheet by right-clicking its tab at the bottom, and then select the appropriate option.

- When importing teams, make sure that you're copying the team from a universal text tool, like Notepad, before you paste it into the "Import" field.

- The MCG will not calculate JP totals for units that haven't been assigned a gender.

- A setting in the MCG has been enabled to allow any RSM to be put in any slot (example: PA Save as a Support).  This is so Maintenance can be set as a Movement, since we have not yet developed an ASM hack that changes its hardcoding.  Regardless, please put RSM in their intended slots.  Thanks!

- Some equipment information (such as bonus PA, MA, etc) does not display.  This is due to a conflict that happens between the MCG and an ASM hack we use that lets us have access to many more item attributes to use for equipment.

I made an ability named "Fire Blast". All it's supposed to be is a regular weapon attack but with the fire element attached to it. So far, it works perfectly for every weapon type except guns. I was testing it out earlier with my patch's strongest gun and this is what happened:

Instead of dealing the 256 damage it's supposed to, it instead deals that measly 16 damage. Below is a screenshot of the ability in FFTPatcher:

Help! / FFTPatcher Random ENTDs

Hey, everybody.

I was wondering if somebody could tell me at what point through the story I encounter each random battle ENTD? I have a rough idea of when I'd encounter a handful of them, but I need specifics! Oh, and I'd like to know which of them are low-encounter-chance ENTDs, as well.

Example:
Name; available at: Chapter _ - ______; non-rare/low-encounter-chance

If some kind soul out there could supply me with a complete list, I would be eternally grateful.

"DTE for JOBSTTS.OUT failed. The ISO has NOT been modified."

This occurred while I was editing the ability descriptions in QuickEdit. Cure 1 to Frog were fine, but as soon as I edited Death, this came up while patching the ISO. I also tested Flare and Haste, and the same thing happened for those two, as well. Do I need to make the ISO bigger? I have made plenty of changes in FFTacText;  everything's been peachy up until this point. Thanks in advance.

Help! / FFTacText Freezes During Patching Process

Hello, everyone.

I have been trying to patch a clean FFT ISO with my numerous changes in FFTacText, and it seem to patch correctly until it gets to one spot. It just freezes up there... I've let it do its thing for up to 15 minutes and it still doesn't move. I attached a screen shot to this topic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
