Two-fer!

Gaelic Storm.  Usual set is fiddle, bagpipe, drums, guitar, vocals, but they're all very talented and do triple drum spreads while dipping into flute/harmonica/accordian instruments. I saw them live first, and honestly half+ of their studio music is overproduced and slow, but stuff like this is AWESOME.

And then as an extra bonus because I saw them in chicago they whipped out some of the girls from the local irish dance academy!  Pretty cool stuff too.

Edit:  Striking similar to ELO's Fire on High, if you're interested :)

A decent Gaelic Storm studio song:

Axis of Awesome - 4 Chord Song
.  The only thing you need to have a pop hit.  Especially when its in the chorus ~_~

Just another rebel plotting rebellion.

As the puppeteer pulls His strings,
The fragile doll spreads Her wings.
To dance a ballet as He directs
That is the Curse of the Marionette.

Controlled by a hand far, far above,
Forbidden to care, forbidden to love.
Forever shall She mime what She cannot know,
Until the day She loses her illusory glow.

Propped up on a stilt where wine once stood,
The Marionette is, once more, only wood.
Her glossy eyes have lost their shine,
Her silken hair, turned to twine.

What a fate awaits the poor little doll,
Who dances and runs but cannot stand at all.
And the puppeteer is applauded at the end of every show,
But the audience's joyous response the doll can never know.

I am but a doll on an endless stage,
Dancing for others whilst I slowly age.
My puppeteer sits far above,
Hiding His face behind a white glove.

And when I have aged to nothing but wood,
I will be tucked away in a closet where a doll once stood.
Then, as I gather dust and the world passes by,
I will be forgotten by the vast, blue sky.

Nice playback, this is impossible to sing such voice with not opening mouth at all, besides these three "cool boys" aren't just able to sing it, they better join Hannah Montana and leave Metal alone, this only hurts my ears. And think before calling people idiots.

Them singing it isn't the point of this video or song.
The point of it is someone else singing it, and actually making the song bearable.
The video is there because that is the real video. The person who made the song uses the real videos of the songs he remakes.
The video matching to the singing isn't relevant.

I like the lyrics to this song! But the music just doesn't appeal much to me.
It could be because I'm on a sonic binge lately. xD

Hey Samurai, that As I lay Dying song is fairly tits.  Does the rest of there stuff sound quite a bit like Dethklok?  Because I can't seem to find any metal I like more than them, and they're cartoons.  Do you know of any other metal that has poppy melodies and guitar oriented solos.  It just seems like everything that's as heavy as them is just repetitive crunch.  Over the last couple years Dethklok has reawakened my love of metal, but no other band can sate me.  Care to recommend anything?

Samuraiblackbelt

most of As I Lay Dying's stuff from the same CD as the one I posted sounds quite alike musically.

dunno what exactly what you mean by "poppy melodies" but as for guitar oriented solos I could give you some.

a few suggestions:
Ensiferum
In Flames (amazing guitar composition, their guitar players are amazing.)

if you like power/speed metal:
Blind Guardian (incredible guitar in their later stuff, but they've been around for 20 years so there's quite a bit of "later stuff")
Hammerfall
Iron Maiden

in general ask Bastard Poetry about heavier metal, I like power and speed metal for the most part.

I just found out about this recommendation website called tastekid.com.  I did a search on dethklok and I got several recommendations.  I haven't had a chance to go through them all yet but there is one that really stands out to me.  They are called Insomnium and their song Down with the Sun is pretty Klok-like.

Here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K003TNG40P8&feature=player_embedded#!

How do I embed a video directly into the post?

@ Jack of All Trades, Insomnium is one of my favorite bands. I'm glad you discovered them!

I also HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Opeth, Martriden, Dark Tranquillity and.. well, before I go and list off every band that does quality, melodic* metal, just go back earlier in this thread to check out some of the links I've posted.

* "Poppy metal" is a rather cheesy way of describing what I call "melodic metal." I think that's more what you had in mind. Bands like Opeth have the brutality of death metal, but without the furious, seemingly mindless crunching of many death metal bands.

Thanks Bastard, I can't wait until this weekend when I can fill up my Android phone with all of this cool new metal.  I use the word poppy because it means more then just melodic.  To me it infers catchy pseudo-pop melody.  Pop is the worst adjective for a genre as it truly has no meaning.  "Musician's" (yes the quotations are intentional) like NSYNC, Brittany Spears, and just about anything dominating the pop charts, are all just super catchy (not for me mind you) inter genre'd songs.

To me Pop music is died in the 80's along with Pop Art.  When I think of Pop, I think of David Bowie.  I think of artfully catchy things.  Not to be confused with what's currently in the top 40.  So, no disrespect.  I really do need to get away from that word, because I can pretty much guarantee that its going to offend most Metal enthusiasts.
